  1. I don't see Kompany being at Burnley for another five years, but they have sensibly protected their own interests by getting him signed up. To me, it's a case of us hoping that other clubs pursue alternative options. An offer from a more ambitious club, (ie most of the Championship), and I think JDT will be off.
  2. ⬆️ Hey, he said it 😂😂😂
  3. Let’s hope not in terms of the head coach.
  4. ..........which mean't the square root of diddly - squat to us.
  5. How are those "twists and turns" coming along? " If anyone says JDT might leave I'll squeam and squeam and squeam!".
  6. More interesting for what he doesn't say, eg "The work begins now for next season".
  7. Agreed. I'm sure JDT will be weighing it up in the next few weeks, and no doubt be seeking assurances from the club. Even if another club doesn't come in for him, that doesn't necessarily mean he won't leave. He left Malmo without another job to go to. We can only hope he stays and we build on this not great but encouraging season.
  8. Agreed, JDT's answer certainly suggests he might leave. Very non - committal.
  9. Failing to beat the likes of Brum and Hull in the run in........ Every club can go through the fixtures and cite hard luck stories. We finally got our act together when it was too late.
  10. I can think of no greater irony than that performance and result. A fantastic comeback and four goals, exactly at the point when it was too late. Hopes : we keep JDT and the recruitment department gets it's act together, (with a reasonable amount of funding from the owners). Fears : JDT leaves or is not sufficiently backed, and we're back to square one.
  11. I agree that January’s fiasco has been a key factor. However, I think the “project” / jam tomorrow mentality of the club also plays a part, and I don’t see that changing next season, no matter who the head coach is.
  12. I think you could be right. If he goes to Chelsea or Tottenham, he gets the instant reward of bigger bucks and the possibility of competing for trophies. However, he also risks lowering his chances of getting the City job, because both those clubs will most likely chew him up and spit him out, and his star will be lowered.
  13. Yes, that would be the final slap in the face. It was clearly time for Mowbray to move on, but I think we’ve discovered the hard way that what we described as a “Mowbray death spiral” is actually a Rovers death spiral, (8 points from 10 games).
  14. Preston's players won't have the same mentality as the fans. It will be immaterial to them that their result potentially affects us. If Preston lose it will not be their fault that we have failed to qualify for the Play Offs. We should not be going into today's game relying on others.
  15. There’s a huge difference between “not arsed” and not at all hopeful. If it was still in our own hands (klaxon) I would definitely be more nervous / excited. Even just relying on one result would be grounds for a bit of hope. As I stated before, it’s interesting that some supporters still feel genuinely hopeful. I really hope their instincts are correct.
  16. In reality, it means Burnley have ensured they can demand a decent wedge for his services.

  18. I agree re - the luck, but you have to make your own, and we just don't threaten the opposition's goal enough. It would make no sense for us to win that game tomorrow after such a wretched run. I find it genuinely interesting that there are two trains of thought here going into the game, and really hope my gut feeling is wrong.
  19. It’s barely registering that we have a game with me, because I just can’t see everything falling into place. Had we got into to this position with a good run, I’m sure it would feel different. Im totally relaxed with very low expectations, but I’d love to be pleasantly amazed.
  20. Can Alan come out of retirement tomorrow, please? 😉
  21. One key difference is that the game didn’t matter to Barnsley…….
  22. Draws would do in the other two games, if we keep our end of the bargain. Highly unlikely that all the boxes will be ticked, imo, and it should never have come to this, given the position we were in. Here’s to the mother and father of twists and turns (klaxon).
  23. End of season awards night. We wouldn’t want anything to delay the Summer holidays.
  24. Me. I remember it being generally good natured, (as you say, a good job they'd already won it! ), but then a few darts and coins started being chucked at us. I remember we were let out of the ground first in order to get a head start.
  25. if they’re good enough for Eric Morecambe……. 🙂
