Great pundit, mind you. Even if I don't agree with everything he says, at least he's outspoken and opinionated, unlike all the dullards on BBC who are stealing a living.
-
For me, there's no such thing as "natural level". The idea that teams should know their place or be entitled to success based on their catchment area, supporter-base, stadium size etc. is snobby and elitist. A club's current position is exactly where they deserve to be.

Barnsley (h) - the Cauldron Of Hate part 2?

Perhaps, but I'm wondering if having Armstrong up top encourages us to keep on the deck for Dack/Holtby, as opposed to lumping it to Graham at the first opportunity. -

Alternatively, I would swap Graham for Armstrong, as he, Holtby and Dack linked up pretty well against Huddersfield (was it?). -

Point but he's too immobile to play wide and I don't think he offers a lot centrally. -

Wasn't Reed another young player who Mowbray threw under the bus? -

My team would go a little something like this: -
That's a good point. Although most of our youth players will end up in the football wilderness, there are some who could do a job for less money than the "squaddies" we have now.
-
If I remember rightly, Mowbray's WBA side were known for playing good football but were also a soft-touch that failed to mix things up and win ugly. Sounds exactly like us, except for the "playing good football" part.
-
Pretty much. Why fans choose to put football managers on a pedestal is beyond me. Now and again you might find one who puts the club's needs before his own.
-
Correct me if I'm wrong but Steele and Leutwiler are the only goalies we've paid for.
-
I know, right? Such a bizarre post. "I love the manager who's the complete antithesis of Mowbray... Let's give Tony some more time, eh?"
-
If he's expecting the fans (or rather the owners) to swallow the twaddle he's coming out with, then yeah he's not far off. Not in the same league as the fork-tongued Glaswegian, of course.
-
All valid points, but we got our business done early on with Downing, Johnson, and Gallagher. There didn't appear to be much hold up there. The fact we passed on Bauer and had no Plan B other than a kid from Man City, is probably a damning indictment of our manager and his recruitment staff than anything else.

This one is entirely on the manager. We know you don't need to break the bank to get promoted.

If Dack has any ambition, he should be looking for a move. A player with his talent shouldn't be attached to Mowbray's sinking ship. I think Lenihan's injury history might prevent a move just yet, and Travis is hopefully still flying under the radar of most clubs. -
Thanks. That would underscore the point we're trying to put across, which is strikers are a softer sell when it comes to loosening the purse-strings. After all, it's easier to quantify a striker's worth than it is any other position.

Usually @chaddyrovers is quick to post the stats. What gives?

We're still allowed something from the drinks trolley. GET BEHIND 'EM FFS!!

Yup, I don't think you're far off with that theory. We're not in the situation where the manager is given a budget and told to get on with it, apart from a few peanuts here and there to manage turnover. Whenever a key player is identified that costs a few bob, the manager has to go petitioning to Pune. I think the last time we spent anything like this on a defender was Scott Dann back in 2011.

"I felt an equaliser was coming... but we weren't making any clear-cut chances" He gets bored of his own b*llshit after 30 seconds.
-
If the criteria is that he's a good youth coach and an ex-Rover, Jason Wilcox fits the bill.

"Turgid" means swollen, or a bombastic style of writing. One of those misused words in football. Just say "shite". -
Pardew's a good short-term fix. He would also be the polar opposite of Mowbray in terms of personality and tactics.
-
Tbf, any rumblings of discontent won't be emanating from Mowbray's powerbase.
