  1. I remain unconvinced he's not another Bowyer. Pulls results out of the bag when the pressure is on, gives fans false hope of a playoff push, then crumbles.
  2. With Chris Brown up front?
  3. Holtby is a bit of a wanderer, so I can kinda understand bringing on Bennett to keep our shape. Although we'd be singing a different tune if Derby snatched that equaliser. Small margins.
  4. You're slightly mistaken. Peacock played LIKE balls.
  5. This purple patch won’t last forever. It’s what the manager learns from it that will be key. I suspect at the moment he’s fighting every urge to tinker, but he knows a good thing when he sees it. Let’s hope it lasts and he doesn’t revert to type as soon as we lose.
  6. With the exception of recalling Evans, every decision he's made has been called for by the fans. No one said it's the "XI that the fans wanted" btw. Strawman.
  7. Whoever plays at left-back would be considered a weak link. I'd rather have a player of Downing's ability and experience filling in at the moment as opposed to the alternatives. If he has a complete 'mare, then obviously we might need to rethink that.
  8. It would be madness to scapegoat Rhodes for our failure to get promoted but we looked a better TEAM with King/Rudy leading the line. It’s notable that Rhodes was on the bench when we turned over Swansea and Stoke in the FA Cup. Goal poachers are a dying breed and strikers are expected to contribute more to the team’s overall performance than just hitting the back of the onion bag. Experienced bosses like Strachan and Lambert had his number. Rhodes would’ve been a fantastic supersub but at £8m there was no justifying that.
  9. It's a myth that Rochina was a fancy dan with no end product. 5 goals and 4 assists in 19 apps isn't a bad return. That was his record in 2012/13 when we actually played him.
  10. In Souness' darkest hour, he had Gresko in centre-midfield and Matteo on the wing. If you needed further proof that he had completely lost the plot.
  11. Obviously there are cognitive biases, but it's not like the manager is any better. Some players he picks come rain or shine, others get thrown under the bus (usually the younger ones).
  12. You don't drop one of your best attacking players because he had an off-day. Rothwell should be one of the first names on the teamsheet.
  13. Currently GK coach for the Bangladesh national team.
  14. You might be right but in the current market £10m is peanuts to take a punt on a player of Dack's calibre. When you consider we've spent £7m on Brereton... who looks a million miles off Championship standard, let alone Premiership. :/
  15. It would take promotion to keep Dack, and despite the giddiness of four wins in five, we know it ain’t happening. I reckon he’ll be gone next summer to recover the dosh Mowbray spunked up the wall.
  16. Hopefully Mowbray will pick the same XI and keep the momentum going. We all know,it's the hope that kills you supporting Rovers. Derby are in a bit of a slump but take nothing for granted in this division.
  17. The forum archive only goes back to 2003. Could be wrong though.
  18. Don't forget Tugay at £1.3m, Lucas Neil at £1m, Samba £400k, Nzonzi £650k...
  19. Ben Benson. He sounds like a Marvel character.
  20. Is that in-between clips from 300 and Gladiator? ?
  21. It's a topsy-turvy league. That's why it's difficult to build any consistency, doubly so when you chop and change every week.
  22. Interesting comment from Stoke site: A bit OTT, they were just miles better than us at the basics. They won the majority of first balls and pretty much every second ball. Always been majorly impressed by Lenihan and thought he was a monster at the back for them again today. They used the ball well and had distinct patterns to their play, they knew when to just put their foot through ball and when to commit players forward in attack. Nothing special but they were very well drilled Read more: http://oatcakefanzine.proboards.com/thread/292243/bradley-dack#ixzz66mwTrV7n
  23. People say the same things every time Evans has a couple of good games and they're still high on euphoria. Usually happens around the time his contract is running out. He's a tidy player on his day but more often than not he's been anonymous for us.
