Why has it just been requested? Why wasn't the request made at the end of the season? Why wait until the transfer window is open to request funds? Why are the players due back for pre season training yet nobody at the club knows what budget they are working off this season?

It would have been £6 million on this season's books,many teams could have paid that without any trouble.We might have got a little bit more in the summer but not a massive amount so I don't agree we would have sold him for much more.

Yeah and the administrators sell anything they can for whatever they can so although it would be nice for Venkys to be forced to leave while in admin or assets are all for sale and most likely not for market value

I'm certainly not saying it is value, but he had one team willing to meet the low asking price so I think it is being optimistic in the extreme to think that loads of clubs would have been in for him in the summer willing to pay much more than what he was sold for. What would have changed between January and the summer

No I don't think we got a fair price.I think it's a price that prem clubs wouldn't have gone much higher with, without him being tested against better opposition

Yeah but only one club willing to back up any interest with cash so I personally doubt we would have seen much more money for him if we waited until the summer He needed a move and to play with better players for his talent to be truly recognised imo.Clubs obviously had doubts about him before his move to palace or we would have seen more clubs putting cash on the table in January

Jude had a way way bigger reputation than A.Wharton and had loads of clubs willing to pay that fee for him without even one full season under his belt. Scott fair enough but still had more appearances than Wharton,more goals, more assists and had been involved with the England under 21s.I obviously believe Wharton was and is the better player but at end of day.... He was available for a very good price but it was only palace who paid the money for him

It wasn't a fair price for his talent but we would not have got much more without proving himself in the premier league. At the end of the day he had been performing well for us ,had shown his talent but yet hadn't yet even had a call up for the under 21s and only 1 club put money down for him and that was palace.

Fairly surprised with Brainthwaite being left out and Dunk in.Plus Southgate said Quansah is on standby list .Can only presume Brainthwaite looked poor in training as he had an excellent season,The goalkeeper and him have a club relationship and will know each others games better and he is left footed

He didn't even get into the under 21 squad with us , under 20 squad he was in Even when he moved to Palace he was initially called into the England under 20 squad , and then got pushed up to the under 21s when Mainoo got called into the seniors

They have brought/bringing Park in as head of recruitment which was Kimberley's role All these scouts that have left joined the summer Broughton was appointed, presumably he would have had a say in the process of appointing the recruitment team.So no real surprises to see more follow Broughton out of the door

Agree with the England under 21 bit but it was always going to take a move and him playing with better quality players for him to be truly recognised, different story if Venkys would have paid to bring in better quality around him but the players around him were only getting worse

Not recognised enough to receive an England under 21 call up though ,and even after a prem move it took Manoo being drafted into the seniors for Wharton to get pushed up from the under 20s The initial post I responded too on this was the suggestion he could have got an England senior call up while playing here in these Venky owned times

Again he hadnt even received an England under 21 call up while here so I think it is fair to believe that his talent wasn't being recognised elsewhere

I disagree it was many clubs . Many clubs in the premier league couldn't put £6 million on this year's books ? Everton, Newcastle...who else? Everton wouldn't have been paying more than palace anyway and it's widely reported that Newcastle's recruitment team felt he didn't have the stamina they wanted Many clubs could have paid that fee with no ffp concerns
