For me there was no downside to agreeing to pay the £10 million ,you would likely get half back if you sold him to a parachute club anyway and even if kept on and not prem standard (which I don't believe he has had a proper chance to prove yet) he would be an asset if we went back down which in all probability we would. If O'Brien goes through then O'Brien and Thomas are 2 signings that are better than anyone we have signed in January in years. They won't have been cheap deals and O'Brien and Thomas give us a far greater chance of maintaining a top 6 position than Zeefuk did.
