  1. Can’t quite believe that there has been no priority placed on getting a goalkeeper in. Ignoring the fact that Walton and Jayson aren’t good enough in the Summer we will have zero first team goalkeepers. Mowbray will almost certainly be looking to keep Walton though. At least we’ll also need a new centre back then too. Or will that just be Williams’ chance again?
  2. The club isn’t doing nearly enough. Saying “nothing will work” isn’t going to cut it I’m afraid. We seem to have reached a point where those at the club agree with you though. So it’s just a case of milking the existing fans for as much money as possible.
  3. One thing that hasn’t been mentioned about last night - I don’t think - was the absolutely guy-wrenching feeling of sadness and almost shocked-grief that occurred when QPR scored literally just as the minute’s applause for Tiana Thompson came to an end. I can’t remember the last time I felt that disconsolate. Not shouty or bawling but just genuinely upset to the pit of my stomach. Nobody knew what to do for the following minute: some quiet, victimless, booing, but mostly muted silence. This isn’t meant to sound insincere or even pious, but it almost encapsulated for us all - certainly for myself at least - a microcosmic version of the feeling of loss and grief. I’m just glad we were able to do the young lass proud by going on to win.
  4. Happily for you, iFollow was a fiver. Unhappily for those able to attend, people at the club are determined to put up barriers in the interests of ‘value’. Even if you would like to see more fans in the ground. (So please don’t slight the locals watching on TV or online when that’s how you watched). Meanwhile, while we fall out about it, there remain thousands upon thousands of empty seats and nothing being done to address it. Not just at Rovers. It’s all about supply and demand. What is the price point to get the ground two-thirds to three-quarters full? Get people into the ground, turn them into fans, get the merchandise and food sales up, but more importantly get some momentum and energy into Ewood Park.
  5. We are a million miles away from where we need to be as a club. No efforts, or not enough efforts, are being made to grow the long-term sustainability of the club - i.e. new fans, let alone demographic challenges - everything is short term.
  6. Not captain, no. But ambassador? Abso-elliott-lutely!
  7. You really don’t want to pull at this thread. They were counted among the 11,505 even if they weren’t there. The original point that you have drifted listlessly away from is that £22 and taking it off the TV didn’t have the effect those in charge hoped. The conditions on the evening are simply an additional negative factor when someone is sticking two fingers up at you. Meanwhile we don’t have enough revenue coming in and still don’t have any plan to try to grow the volumes and instead just think increased prices are they way to go. If we got promoted, I’d expect prices to go up even higher.
  8. The whole boardroom in-fighting was the issue. Just think of Singh hadn’t come in. Kean might still be here!
  9. Cheers @DE. Friedel did play for a top side! Then he went to Spurs.
  10. Well it was certainly a factor for some season ticket holders who weren’t there. Are they not fans either then. Sick to death of people blaming fans on the attendance debate.
  11. Oh absolutely. We don’t know how lucky we are (despite having the piss taken out of us for 10 years). Funny that he is embarrassed by fellow supporters not turning out in numbers, yet not embarrassed that “the club” cancels the TV coverage (while offering online PPV for £10) in order to try to compel fans to shell out £22 each on the last game before the first post Christmas pay packet, on a freezing cold and miserable evening in January. And all because of a freak 5-0 win for the first time in almost 20 years. Well it didn’t work - just as experienced fans knew it wouldn’t work. Looking at the ground I’d be surprised if 11,505 was the real number. Blackburners will not be forced into anything. They are a stubborn bunch who do not take kindly to being slighted. The current administration is completely ignorant of this and don’t seem to care. But yeah, it’s all the fans fault. We have been here for a hell of a lot longer than this lot and longer still after they leave. If we are doomed when Venkys eventually pull the plug then we are certainly not going to have lots of fans around as part of any legacy from this bunch. Everything rests on promotion. And even this may no longer be enough.
  12. If it’s that bad, John, push the boat out and get that central heating on!
  13. Another 8 or 9 points and we’ll be safe I reckon. In all seriousness, once we get to that point we should be letting our hair down. Players like Rankin-Costello and the like should start to be given time. We aren’t going up while this fella still thinks Bennett is the answer to whatever injury we get, just because he’s prepared to play anywhere. Just about got this three points tonight after a poor second half where we just got weaker with every substitution. Thankfully we did enough damage when the attacking formation was deployed in the first half and Lenihan and Adarabioyo just kept doing what the needed to. We absolutely need a new keeper mind.
  14. “Right lads, Benno is on for Rothwell“
  15. 11,505 tonight. Second lowest of the season. Cancelling the red button didn’t improve anything.
  16. Should have been JRC on for Rothwell.
  17. Going to be a tough 45 minutes with 10 men.
  18. You can’t watch Saturday 3pm games on iFollow - have you confirmed that is the case for midweek? In any case, fans are already in social media offering to stream the game, so it’s lose-lose-lose. Club doesn’t make money, fans don’t watch, Sky lose subscribers. “We have very few fans to make money from”. A poor (although I suspect unintended) comment that could have come out of our chief exec’s own mouth. It’s not about milking the faithful but growing the numbers. This guy is slowing wringing the golden goose’s neck.
  19. Good point. I’ll be honest, I missed that. So denying Sky coverage, which people have already subscribed to expecting red button coverage, and making it PPV instead?? Nothing to do with getting fans back in the ground then and all about the coin. Fans really are there to be milked. Thoughts @Paul Mani?
  20. There will be lots of folk out there tonight who can’t get to the game - including season ticket holders who have been short changed. It seems that the club is more than happy to allow overseas (and tech savvy) folk watch but not local fans. For 3pm games there is an excuse but not when the facility is available. It’s just churlish. It’s not even part of a positive drive to increase attendance. They are more than happy to get some ifollow revenue though. If I was a QPR fan I’d be livid.
  21. So we should just refuse all games then.
  22. Assuming that’s all adults that’s £2k - wow that’ll swell the coffers. So we get paid less than that for a televised match? As always though there is no real attempt to get fans in, just find some new penalty and then blame the fans lack of commitment. This lot need to start working with fans rather than against them. Such contempt. Still no thoughts on the times when the club move fixtures so they can be televised because of the extra revenue? Who do they think is watching then, just the neutrals?
