  1. They are letting Mowbray do what he thinks in necessary so why not someone with a credible plan for promotion. If we take your post at face value, you’ve just suggested that Mowbray is a puppet. I.e. that he is only here because he does what they want instead of what is necessary and somehow he is the only option because they will only employ worse. How is that any kind of positive argument? If this is where we have ended up: that Rovers fans are happy, or at least accepting of this situation, then we may as well give up now. On the above basis, we are in no different a position than when Kean was in charge and the only reason there aren’t protests is that Mowbray is a nice guy and doesn’t have links to certain agents.
  2. Let’s be honest, Leutwiler is here because he is more than happy to be number 2 and won’t be knocking on Mowbray’s door pestering for his chance. If anything he will say exactly what Mowbray wants him to hear. https://www.lancashiretelegraph.co.uk/sport/17644806.jayson-leutwiler-outlines-aims-signing-new-rovers-deal/ Gallagher is a centre forward. Playing him out wide to be a target for this woeful cross-field ball that we play has done for him. Racked up the games without being given the right kind of opportunities. Allardyce would have got him those 5-10 goals already, never mind by the end of the season.
  3. So much wrong with this game today. Did they all just become bad players?
  4. Number one, number two and gk coach. The triumvirate of the non-outfield role. We binned off the wrong tine. The worst part is that this isn’t even hindsight and there is no likely change in sight!
  5. That’s a very succinct way of putting it. Football is a cut-throat business... except at Rovers when Desai thinks a manager is a nice man.
  6. As far as the Brereton debacle goes, the buck stops with Mowbray and his coaching staff. Being played out wide has destroyed any potential this lad might have had. He’s 20 years old and has been saddled with unfair expectation from day one due to a ludicrous transfer fee. He has then been ‘protected’ by not being played, then played out of position, then dropped. This has done him no favours. Sadly, in a world where the manager is beyond reproach and who singles out his own players, it was only a matter of time before he bore the brunt of frustrations (although from what I’ve read elsewhere this is now being over-played - maybe to protect Mowbray and deflect on to fans). This lad will now likely go on loan but if he does I can’t see him returning. This may well be Kevin Davies all over again. Sadly, this will happen again and again just with different players.
  7. We CANNOT have a non-performance for this one. If we see a half-hearted display, conceding early, and Mowbray doing his “what’s going on?’ dance on the touchline and I think the crowd will turn.
  8. He was brought in for one reason and one reason only. It was actually a shrewd move and allowed Mowbray to take rest games and, combined with a rotation policy. However, it worked at that level - because everyone in the squad was top end League One quality. Sadiy, not a lot has changed. Leutwiler is still here but the reason for that is no longer valid. We still have a substandard number two, not pushing our number one and both coached via a laptop. Our rotation policy continues (when Mowbray can find excuses to do so) but doesn’t work because we don’t have a squad of players that is top end Championship quality. We are still relying on half a League One standard squad and have downgraded one of last season’s worst defensive/goalkeeping units.
  9. It’s not a good sign at all. We know what some of these players are capable of but nobody is standing out at the minute. This is not a happy camp. Mowbray singling people out won’t help. He needs to start looking at his own approach. If the players are not doing what he is asking then there is a reason for that and there needs to be clear-the-air talks - and fast! http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/50995928 Since there is no danger of him being sacked it will only be Rovers (and the fans) who suffer.
  10. Ah well. It could have been worse. We could have been drawn away against Burnley. I wouldn’t trust Mowbray to motivate his side for even that one.
  11. “I want success this instant” - what a slur on your fellow fans! Assuming you are actually a Rovers fan.
  12. A wistful smile...
  13. Based on both goals the players look to have completely given up. The lack of effort to get back and put a tackle in for both spoke volumes.
  14. It’s the Harry and Mash show again. Defending the indefensible straight after another poor result. Players are now playing better than they used to; despite us only being able to come up with one player who has (arguably) improved under Mowbray. Travis is playing “better” despite becoming a more negative player - and this is somehow a “positive“. Mowbray is still the best man for the job! We are building for the future! Meanwhile, the reality is that we lurch from good runs into bad runs based on Mowbray deciding to tinker and we are about to begin a turnover of Mowbray’s own playing staff so he can have another go. This is a scenario not enjoyed by unsuccessful managers anywhere. His time would be up at any other club with any ambition. A new manager needs to come in now to be able to decide who we keep and who goes during the Summer.
  15. Never seen the Facebook groups so up in arms. Has TM finally lost the players?
  16. Did anyone see their goal? The players tracking back might as well have been wearing GoPros for Sky given the preference to watch than to make an actual challenge!
  17. Hopefully it’s the middle and not the first 20%.
  18. This is a consequence of Mowbray giving him a new deal last Summer and his nobility in “keeping players happy”. I’d have liked to have had a look at Hilton with Fisher on the bench. If not now then we are never going to see him in first team action. Leutwiler being our number 2 is part of the problem with our goalkeeper situation.
  19. We’ve just been spoiled. Flowers, Given, Friedel, Robinson, Bunn. But we’ve paid for it since mind. Brown, Kean, Eastwood, Steele, Leutwiler, Walton. Raya isn’t really in either list but with the right coach and number two, could have been in the first list.
  20. If that’s true we need to slash the scouting team and put the savings towards FFP.
  21. Williams? But only when moved to centre back. After that I’m really struggling.
  22. Attack-minded players appear to be the root of all evil for Mowbray. Compare and contrast with the approach of Damien Johnson...
  23. A cup run could do wonders for what looks like depleted confidence just now. Saying that, all those extra games would mean even more tinkering. I’m sure I’ll get stick for saying it but I’m rapidly losing interesting in this season.
  24. Mowbray needs to stop signing attacking midfielders. He doesn’t use them properly and we already have enough of them in the squad they just get used out wide. Mind you, he can’t use strikers properly. Or wingers. Or full backs. He’s ok with defensive centre mids - bit of a forté really. If he won’t bring in defenders then we need a goalkeeper and a goalscorer. Both will have to be loans though.
  25. If you think Walton is adequate then we’ll have to agree to disagree.
