  1. I’m all for a bit of Walker Trust bashing but in 1996 the world record transfer fee was £15m (Shearer). In 2006 it was £43m (Schevchenko). In 2016 is was about £100m (Pogba). They just didn’t care was the problem.
  2. Socks schmocks. In the modern game it’s not just the damage done but the intent. If there was no intent and no damage then fine.
  3. Can’t have helped though. Even worse now it has been rescinded.
  4. Amazing how a freak 5-0 can suddenly change our recruitment priorities! Nothing has changed in our defensive unit, we are just as weak as ever, with one injury away from meltdown. Meanwhile we have plenty of players - including the youth ranks (JRC, Mols) - who haven’t yet been given a chance at right wing before being automatically dismissed in favour of a punt in the transfer market. Why exactly is Mowbray so reluctant to buy defenders, despite his previous pronouncements?
  5. You reminded me of a post on Facebook earlier today. Basically some bloke saying Bennett was past it but also qualifying his stance in that he wasn’t a hater like “other fans”. When other fans are called haters just for saying a player is past it. The irony is completely lost on some folk.
  6. Sheff Weds can point to at least 4 reasons why that’s not true. Still we’ve been on the receiving end of similar injustices and I’m sure be will be again!
  7. Who was it that suggested Marshall coming back? https://www.lancashiretelegraph.co.uk/sport/18173781.stoneclough-landed-former-blackburn-norwich-winger/?ref=fbshr He looks well short of Championship fitness but looks happy at least!
  8. Someone’s going to be disappointed!
  9. Who is leaving to free up the cash though?
  10. “You can’t bring players in who don’t know how we play, the demands, don’t know the lads, and we’re going to win next week because this player is great.” This is why Mowbray has to go for us to progress. He talks utter nonsense. It all sounds like the aim is to make “project” take as long as it can.
  11. And he was in the right position to gallop on to it.
  12. Yes. I was going to say...
  13. Just watched the highlights. Have to say I’m made up for Gallagher.
  14. Great to get 3 points and a big win but Mowbray must learn from this. Playing attacking players and not playing Bennett and we could go places. Same as we all said last time!
  15. Personally I think he is playing under the wrong manager to develop those attributes. He can’t tell a defender from his elbow. And he was one!!
  16. Imagine if we had Downing and Mulgrew but they were 5 years younger.

  18. There are plenty of problems with it. Putting a man whose motto appears to be “think small, think slow” given equal billing with Jack, for one. But the main thing I see it as is two fingers at the fans given that it will have been ordered when Mowbray was coming under significant pressure again due to a run of poor results. Even Kean didn’t dare get a flag of himself made and that’s saying something. Or presumably he just didn’t think of it. What happens when Mowbray leaves? Throw it away? There are a significant number of former managers far more deserving of a flag that the current incumbent. That said, this fella could lose 20 games in a row and wouldn’t be sacked so why not a flag. And some think other managers wouldn’t want the gig here... it’s the best job in football!
  19. Sick of reading these statements from Mowbray. He seems to think everyone is as happy as Chaddy to whitewash over his huge financial mistakes and pretend that we are paupers. Even if he were right, it’s precisely because he has paid out big money for two duds that clubs put their prices up. - He says we have no money and then spends big. - He brings in a low priced one and talks about what a “massive bargain” he’s got. Would it be any surprise if other clubs turned around and said “Piss off Tony”? He talks so much crap he’d be better off joining the ranks on football messageboards than being a football manager! Stop talking bobbins, have a proper plan, select the players you want (in our price bracket) and quietly get deals done EARLY rather than this charade of trying to get folk in cheap at the end of each window when in reality clubs know how desperate we are and have started to fleece us.
  20. It’s astonishing that you can’t read this back and see why you making this part of a defence is absolute nonsense. ”I’m going to ignore the thing that totally undermines my (and Mowbray’s) point but still make the point anyway”.
  21. That’s really sad news. Poor lad. Here’s hoping for a follow-up ‘not as bad as first feared’ but it certainly doesn’t look good.
  22. Oh yes, well spotted. No strengths!! Gah!
  23. Bit like Mowbray didn’t have a choice and little old Rovers have resurrected his career to the point of him being “the best we could ever hope to get”. Just think if Mowbray ever left. We’d have to shut the club down.
  24. Two of those strengths are what he “likes” to do, not what he actually does. One is a threat, so not even real. The last is that he doesn’t tackle! Why oh why did we throw FFP at this lad?
