Quite so. That he was a bargain and TM's best work is beyond argument. Nobody denying that are they?

Yes, there is a difference between being the best footballer and being the best player.Read my post above. You'll find me agreeing with KHod that Dack is the best footballer at the club. But he's not the best player is he? In fact he didn't even make Top Three. Perhaps those who made that decision didn't read the stats! You would never say Robbie Savage was ever the best footballer but his energy and total commitment often compensated for whatever shortcomings he had.
-
Don't be literal!

Well here's a question for you, if he's performed similar to his League 1 campaign his transfer value must have gone up mustn't it? Why does everyone except Biz believe his transfer value has plummeted? Why are we convinced we wouldn't get the £15M WBA reportedly bid for him last close season? And its only a few days since he massively underperformed at Norwich and that was hardly the odd game out. I think he's disappointed for much of the season while displaying flashes of the brilliance he showed much more consistently in League 1, which, in my book, makes him less than we thought he was.
-
You say Dack is the "best footballer at the club" and I agree but he should then win Rovers "Player of the Year" shouldn't he? But, despite the stats, we all know he's under-performed in comparison to his natural talent. Or, more worryingly, he can only show that sort of form in League 1.
-
Yes, 2 years older than Daniel Loader, an 18 year old who debuted for Reading aged 16. Did you see his goal this weekend? Brereton has done nothing that good the whole season. By the way, Loader didn't cost £7M.
-
It was Dack and it was a disgrace. When fans decide on the basis of that display that "Brereton is a player" I'm just staggered. Can't head it, can't trap it and won't try to regain a ball he's lost. That wasn't the only example from him. This is football not ballet ( for which he isn't strong enough). As for Dack he has been coasting for weeks if not months. What's the manager doing about it?

2018/19 Season Reviews/Conclusions

He's a slow learner, an over- cautious man. That's the worry. -
You are a very optimistic man! We need more and bigger change than that!
-
So much better. Well done all !

We are in terrible trouble if the summer transfer window doesn't go well. Upfront we were powder-puff lightweight, hardly put in a challenge as their defence took the ball away. Some attractive approach play but moves broke down when we got into the areas that matter. Only one shot on target the whole game! Stood and watched in some instances. If you're playing a better team surely you at least try to play a pressing game and deny them space and time? Wouldn't have happened with Hughes in charge and Todd on the park. We need 5-6 players ready to go straight into the first team and they should be big, tough bastards with a mean streak. Very sorry for the 600 who spent all that time and money getting there.
-
Its a while since Dack was inconsistent.

Could be cash!

A sage!

Hats off to them.

I keep asking for your's but you won't give them! I asked you two specific questions above and you responded to my post without addressing either! That's why every discussion with you just goes round and round to no purpose. If you don't think Brereton is a waste of money what is it about him that you can see and I can't see? Simple.
-
Yes. It implies that certain individuals are good enough but need competition to get the best out of them. I would argue that they simply are not good enough and competition wouldn't fix it. We would end up with equal mediocrity on that basis.
-
There's no pressure on us, we should go out there and play and try to ruin their party. Big chance to show what we can do on a big stage. No fear....

Quotes from you: "I never once said it (BB's transfer fee) couldn't have been spent more effectively." "I don't think anyone at Ewood could argue they've seen enough of him to say he can't head a ball". Its all negatives isn't it? Pure avoidance technique. Has anyone at Ewood seen enough to say he can head he ball? If you never said the money couldn't have been spent more effectively, does that mean it could have been spent more effectively? Like wading through treacle with you.
-
Well,(strikes Theresa May mode)---- now I know what you don't like, when will you tell me what you do like? There's nowt nuanced about me saying "waste of money" is there? You know where I stand. As Brereton's form has been disappointing, you've become more and more vague.
-
Well what exactly did you argue? You're becoming very "nuanced" on the topic. Hard to know anymore. I know where I stand, it was a waste of money. You?
-
Jesus, Biz, it doesn't take a genius to see that "of" should read "or". Your last sentence is ridiculous. Glad to see you admit now that the money could have been spent more effectively, that wasn't your attitude earlier on. "Hindsight" I guess!
-
Further, since Brereton has hardly played at all, we could have done just as well without him. But if we'd spent that money on, say, 2 good defenders, wouldn't we have been much better off?
-
Nobody has ever said that (as per usual!). For my part I've simply said he can't or doesn't head the ball. Is that a fair criticism or not? Its certainly a strange aptitude to lack for a tall striker costing £7M at such a young age.

Biz very generous to the usual suspects!!!!
