  1. I absolutely agree! Can't wait in fact!
  2. How is this relevant to anything? I can think of dozens of players who were never considered nice guys eg Keane, most of Leeds most successful team ever(!),Rooney, Djouf, John Terry? Opposition players were terrified of Samba and rightly so.
  3. Beautifully put Den!
  4. By and large modern footballers are a spoilt lot, too much momey, too much time on their hands to spend it, everybody idolising them and they are often only kids away from home. Not surprising how some go off the rails. That is where management comes in. We had it, we threw it away. In any case, Rovers new owners at that time didn't discriminate between those who had the right attitude and those who didn't. Nelsen, Salgado,Emerton were all decent blokes as far as I could see but it made no difference. Let's keep the blame where it truly lies eh?
  5. Got rid of anyone else any good too till we got relegated. Only took one and a half seasons! Paid good players to leave so we could replace them with rubbish. The worst era ever gone through by Rovers fans in our long history, the deliberate dismantling of a Premier League team so the rorts could get underway and still people say "yea, that player had a bad attitude, we did well to get rid" Unbelievable.
  6. See you soon in another guise Jim! That's my guess anyway. Not Theno's style but definitely is Jim's! Would be astounded if those posts were from a genuinely new poster!
  7. Not true, we could change the manager couldn't we? That would be a start. Inertia is not going to help.
  8. [quote name="Speedie Dived" post="1575390" timestamp="1442315821 If Venkys are here in 5 years time, we might not even be in league one. Complete absence of stability then?
  9. Naughty sleight of hand there Parson. Tut,tut! Bowyer is NOT in his first few months as Rovers manager is he? So how is that comparison relevant?
  10. Parson, I admire your steadfastness in the face of coming disaster, but cannot share it. There is NO reason for optimism at all re Bowyer. He has done nothing to convince me he can improve. On the contrary, he seems to have learned nothing. In particular, we are not set up to be difficult to beat. We go behind in almost every game and then try to chase the game-----and fail.
  11. Parson Blue---still confident that GB is the man to keep us in this League? Not that that is the summit of achievement for me by the way.
  12. In fact that long throw got us quite a few points. What Allardyce did was to maximise every strength we had. Absolutely necessary when we were short in many areas because, as you say, the funding had run out. I hope you weren't one of the fans on here demanding more attrctive football? Attractive football is winning football. I will never forget that 2-1 home victory over Spurs who had outclassed us all day! Samba up front terrifying their keeper, those were the days!
  13. Ha! You can't pick cherry-pick, you have to take the inevitable relegation that was coming when he left us for Newcastle as well! What happened to all that momentum in the 3 years about which you rightly enthuse? Everyone? Not me. Not Theno either as I recall. Sam was the perfect fit for a club like our's. The Paul Ince debacle showed we were only ever one bad appointment away from disaster. Not a risk worth taking as I said at the time.
  14. Sam! His sides always got better season by season, Souness' got worse. He was a short-term proposition was Souness. Who needed hindsight for that one?
  15. Didn't it go bankrupt?
  16. We can concentrate on the League! Staying in it that is.
  17. There's always aomeone worse off than yourself!
  18. If you think incompetence is solely the cause of our plight then that's up to you. Plenty do not.
  19. Strange post that one Rev.
  20. No the doom-mongers, nay-sayers, conspiracy theorists etc are not racists just Rovers fans with a brain and a memory.
  21. His appointment would be just about it for me I'm afraid. At my age I haven't time to wait for the these clowns to sell or get something right.
  22. While the London media comments are all about Hanley's 'dive", the most telling comment I've seen comes from the last line of the Independent's report: "The next permanent manager must focus on the fitness of a side that, on paper, looks a decent match to anyone in this division." When Hughes was here we had the best specialist appointments money could buy. The result was that we were the fittest side in the Premiership, never mind this 2nd layer league. At Rovers we always have to maximise our opportunities, with Venkys we are always hanging on.
  23. As many have said on here, its the hope that destroys you.
  24. Great result, we have had a miserable season but this is something to celebrate. Time now for Venkys to get key appointments right or sell. Personally prefer "sell".
