That’s hindsight though. I’d say at the point we signed them both they had very similar reputations - that’s what any salary offer would (or at least should) have been based on.

Both defenders, at clubs with similar wage bills, with similar number of championship appearances. I just don’t see why we’d have offered them different terms.

Coventry’s wage bill (21-22 accounting period) was about 60% of ours so his salary would probably have been relatively low. Coventry had just finished 12th and us 8th so I doubt we offered him a huge pay rise either.

In our last set of accounts the three executive directors remuneration totalled £491,033. That leaves around £10 million unaccounted for (as you’ve said some of this will be GB, JDT etc etc)
