Blackburn End: Waggott Out
wilsdenrover replied to BlueBro's topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
‘The greater danger for most of us lies not in setting our aim too high and falling short but in setting our aim too low and achieving our mark’ Michelangelo ‘Fuck it, it will do’ Steve Waggott (I may have made up the second one) -
In their predicament any point is a good point.

I’m sure he’ll point out where they’ve been going wrong.

There’s nothing unexpected about TM playing someone out of position. -
How can you believe in a strategy but only hope it will ensure success? 🤔🤨

Thank you, did they divulge the exact date even if you’re not able to reveal it? -

I’m not sure that’s quite true - whilst we may have always needed to generate our own transfer funds I don’t think we’ve had to sell in order to pay the bills. -

Sorry I should have been clearer. A date for going to court to get the next transfer of funds cleared (not to get the restrictions lifted) -

Regarding points 4 and 5. If we sell a player, what’s to stop the Indian court saying that money should be used to pay the bills (and therefore refusing to sanction more funds being sent over)? -
That’s far too sensible a suggestion.

TNT will be broadcasting 52 matches a season That leaves a maximum of 113 Saturday 3pm kick offs. But who gives a fuck about tradition/match attending fans when TV companies are throwing more and more money around.

An ambitious manager at an unambiguous club has only one ending. -
Yep, compared to other sports, cricket has a lot more scope for group discussions - of course ultimately the captain needs to make the final call. Let’s hope we see some improvements (and a win) on Wednesday.

Very true

I could probably live without them too.

I also get the criticism of the referee’s decision - he’s had a shocker. But Haaland had a shocker too (that miss) but it didn’t get mentioned at all. I can’t remember the last time a pundit stated anything which wasn’t obvious to anyone with even just a passing interest in football.

Agree re Curran. I really do think it boils down to Buttler not being a good captain - he doesn’t seem to be able to react to conditions etc.

Match of the Day 2s analysis of the City Spurs game… Plenty of criticism of the referee decision at the end - no criticism of Haaland’s mistake (missing from 10 yards). Plenty of praise of Tottenham even though nearly every one ended with the phrase ‘it didn’t work but’. In my opinion, this highlighted two of the problems with the modern game. 1. Where at all possible, blame the officials - possibly understandable from managers but indefensible from pundits (maybe it would help if it wasn’t such an old boys club) 2. Style over substance - if it looks ‘right’ (who decide this?) then it doesn’t matter if it works or not.
