  1. The worst case scenario is nothing happens and we are left hanging by our fingernails. If they are going to get done good style then that isn't good news either financially but at least we know what's coming. If it's a storm in a tea cup then it needs sorting out as soon as possible before we regress and end up in a similar situation to a decade ago. A word of warning, the last demise began in similar fashion with taps turned off and various factors taking the blame whilst those at the club glossed it over and the owners said nothing. All after a steady coach had got the team moving in the right direction, had spent a few quid on some decent signings, put a bit of value in the squad then had the rug pulled. Will things return to normal or come summer will GB be told he needs another 15% budget reduction and needs to bring in ten million pretty sharpish ?
  2. No chance they'll pay him off no chance whatsoever just look at the Mowbray situation. Unless he has something stipulated in his contract then he'll have to walk or get another club to come to an agreement with Rovers.
  3. Boro being bottom is about as daft as Preston being top, neither will finish anywhere near their current positions. This is a tough one today.
  4. The most puzzling thing with Ennis is they gave him a 4 year contract to lure him here yet he wasn't even fit when he came.
  5. You can always buy tickets from the ticket office up to kick off and beyond.
  6. They are another club who slashed their STs once over in order to rebuild their fractured fanbase and get others interested. They are also drawing from a city with 3 or 4 times the population of us and many other championship teams. Big city clubs get bigger gates whatever division they are in i'm not sure why anyone is the least bit surprised at that.
  7. True and there was nothing wrong with Filan at that time but Brads pedigree was way more. If Leo came in with a similar cv to TK when he arrived it would be no contest but as it stands, 1 cap aside, there isn't much between then and Pears has the half season Championship experience giving him the edge. Iv'e a feeling Leo will turn out a good buy in the long term though but it's a difficult choice for JDT to make right now. Not as difficult as last season though when he had a pissed off long term number 1 expecting to come back in.
  8. Again no real comparison as Brad had been a top level keeper in the Prem and abroad and was very experienced. Whatever our feelings from the clubs point of view Pears has established himself as number 1 in the last 12 months. So they won't take replacing lightly i think they were looking at it longer term but it's all down to him hes recovered from cock ups before.
  9. We are on slightly different levels than one of the Prems top keepers coming in for a record fee to replace a steady but average one.
  10. From the big turnover and profit the VH group makes and given it isn't a listed company we've no idea how the accounting looks for it. You'd have to be in cuckoo land to think these people would just throw that amount away for no reason unless there was at least an ounce of method in their madness.
  11. Been saying this for years and i think a few things happening recently have added a bit of weight to it.
  12. Firstly they can't get the location of the fixture correct, next they interview Coar. I stopped reading at that point.
  13. Lets just remind ourselves that the current issues have nothing to do with FFP. There is no money to input to fall foul of the rules at present.
  14. Or an opportunity for the ownership to put nothing in whilst we try and tread water whilst hoping there is another one blooming to sell next.
  15. It's inevitable.
  16. That really is wishful thinking, especially if we end up in league 1 again first.
  17. JDT will do that unless he gets told otherwise.
  18. It's always been my assumption that the plan is to give Pears as many games as possible to get value into him then he'll be the next off the conveyor belt. Of course his form will dictate that but the idea that Leo is just waiting in the wings to step up in a 'not if but when' scenario i reckon isn't the case.
  19. Pears had a new contract so he'll have had a payrise so those 2 on the books were suddenly costing more. I think they'd have looked to loan Pears had TK stayed as number 1.
  20. If it's a court case then it's surely got to be about the VOL stuff, which some believe isn't related to our budget cut. Who'd be remotely surprised if there isn't something else lurking in the background.
  21. There'll be a veil thrown around that you can bet and which meeting is it, the one about tax fraud or the one about overseas money ?
  22. It's pretty obvious numbers wise with the 60k a week hes basically been told he can't re-invest those big earners dropped from the budget. I think we all saw that one coming from ten miles away.
  23. I dread to think what level of debt props up the whole empire but they'd come out of it fine whatever happened money wise.
  24. Not listened to it yet but iv'e always had quite a bit of faith in Broughton because he is an actual football guy and compared to the dweebs we've had here like Shebby (rip) and Senior the guy is on another level. Lets face it being a bit hit and miss in the transfer market is nothing new and they are trying to get blood out of stones these days. He's the face of the football operation now though and i think with a normal budget and bit of spends him and JDT would make sweet music here. Trouble is we are still owned by rich cretins and run by unambitious downgrader Waggot with possibly a new fly in the ointment in the shape of a new Venky hatchet man.
  25. If you weren't a Rovers fan and not familiar with the hysteria and suspicion of this ownership and just looked at it from the outside ? You might conclude that the budget cuts are here to stay and their input is now permanently reduced so they've appointed a trusted finance man to.... See how to get their input into the club under a new structure navigating Indian rules and liazing with Waggot to avoid FFP. Get the club to maximise its own revenue by whatever means necessary to ensure it doesn't go bust and make them look bad. So it's all about survival and i think now we know why Waggot recently alluded to that, maybe not only survival in this league but survival full stop. No of it is good news and again the best course of action is to get the club up for sale then hopefully we can all wash our hands of each other. Only way this club can generate income outside the Prem without massive owner support ( like half of the others in this league) is by trading players, putting up ticket prices and selling or remortgaging fixed assets. Time to strap it it's going to be a rough ride unless this geezer can find a way of getting 15 million of VH group money a year into the club again with their blessing.
