  1. Last time he went for face to face meetings the first thing they did was discuss his contract extension and permission to buy drones. He came back with that all signed and sealed so no reason to expect anything different this time. He is NOT going to India to be sacked or step aside so remove all notions of that. If Vs were to remove him it would be like all the others and someone else would do the dirty work. If they wouldn't do it someone else would be temporarily parachuted in to do the deed.
  2. I was just thinking that when reading his latest waffle he really never sees the error of his ways yet from the stands it's loud and clear. Full on denial mode he's in again now, didn't need strikers, loads of options, swaps around after studying opposition then bizarrely says he just concentrates on what we do...... Too many options again now for his muddled approach but it's entirely predictable. When Dack was in his pomp it was all tailored for him, similar with AA last season now it's been BBD this season. Take them away and hes no idea what to do it's just change the front players around every week hoping to catch the opposition out. We didn't need any strikers but there aren't really any in the entire club apart from Vale, surely it wouldn't have hurt to get another in.
  3. Ahh the old Chorley bus station. You could smell it from Wheelton 🤣
  4. I think the system has worked this season and still is all we are missing is some balance across the front line and goals obviously. I really feel if he alters it much we'll start conceding bad goals again it's this system that suits the back line and midfielders. That's why we have stayed in the mix and not been losing 0-1 every week like last season. Yes there should be a plan B and there should be a target man and another striker of some sort on the books. For me it's yet again come back to recruitment and squaddies over horses for courses. There was opportunity to get real back up and plan B but his default setting has always been mix and match. In his element rotating and swapping about the forwards, an excuse to use everyone and just hope something works. Imo if he starts faffing about with the whole team and system things really will go up in smoke. Was always going to be the case this season that if we do finish in the top 6 we'll have to grind ourselves there. Possession football and 433 would never have done it though.
  5. When posts start with 'I've heard...' it's usually best to scroll on.
  6. It doesn't need slicing it just needs telling as it was in factual form not rewriting to suit your argument. Mackay didn't have those funds available for more than 5 mins, you've no idea whatsoever how it would have panned out had he had a season or 2 to go at it. Fact is his drawing power couldn't match the spending power so he wasn't sacked on results really. Previous evidence of getting into the plays offs 3 seasons on the bounce with not much. Plus the players he was trying to bring in would suggest he'd have had a damn good go at it. The main difference for me is the man was bold and ambitious way before Jack put the coin in. He was never happy to rest on his laurels and prattle on about journeys. He demanded the team punch above its weight, that has been missing here since the days of Allardyce. It isn't back yet despite the lofty position.
  7. Don couldn't spend the money and attract players that's why he fell on his sword. At least he tried, if TM had that money he'd tell Venkys to spend it in India instead and him and Swag would spread a million around the squad !
  8. Not strictly true it wasn't all results based he was sacked because one of the biggest names in world football had already been sounded out and said he fancied the job.
  9. They really need to be sensible with any new contracts dished out to this regime because it only delivers when it's under a bit of pressure. One year rolling deal makes 100% sense, no more talk of journeys and all that crap. Just heads down season on season and drive it forwards stop putting feet up on desks in a comfort zone. Otherwise backwards we go...again.
  10. - 'one good season in four' -
  11. When you consider we are the 10th most successful club in the country and probably one of if not The most successful town club.
  12. As long as Suhail backs up Stevie and Tony's words then that summary i can see being terrifyingly close to the scenario.
  13. It'll just be a stupid lack of communication again probably, god knows how many it takes to organize stuff like this. When the leaders are so clueless though it's bound to filter down. The point here is there's already the ST holders bring a friend offer so a lot with be going on that instead of full whack in the DE. Perfectly understandable.
  14. The evidence of the utter clueless nature of those paid money to operate that fiasco presents itself on almost a weekly basis. Now with half a brain they might have offered some further incentive to those who bought those double decker tickets.
  15. 'We shouldn't have been in the top positions anyway, nobody expected it' That's the get out of jail free card getting regularly aired on twitter and faceache and whilst it might be true it doesn't give him a free pass to blow it. If we do end up in the top 6 it's a fantastic effort we have to give him that but finishing 8th or 9th rather than hailing it an improvement on last season really it would be another clusterfuck. All eyes will turn to the January recruitment and what most could see coming with the reliance on BBD and the fact the lad was out on his feet. Many will then turn to blame the owners instead of those whose everyday job is to manage and recruit and had done well enough to get us there in the first place. I have no doubts Mowbray and co would have been delighted to have been given 5 or 10 million to go for it. Also i have no doubts that knowing that was never the case they've told the owners they can do it for shirt buttons on players coming in from their pals. All eyes on not putting themselves under anymore pressure and getting those new deals in summer. Back to the comfort zone of being development squad again rather than serious promotion chasers.
  16. A club who couldn't possibly find anyone else. There are no strikers anywhere else in football so you've got to collect kids to try and make into false 9s. Lets be honest even if he was fit he might still be learning the Rovers way so there are no guarantees we'd have seen much of him anyway.
  17. He has attributes but we don't really use them, never have that's why he looks a shadow of the guy he was years ago. How many teams play with a guy his size in that position ? It isn't pioneering it's just a waste of a lad who should be causing problems in the box with his physical size.
  18. Get him to run around a lot, then give him a contract extension.
  19. I really hope those in power aren't even thinking about it until May It's a dilemma as with so many likely to depart (and some of it is down to the manager) it's going to need a steady hand to rebuild again. Other side of the coin is it would be an ideal opportunity for new blood and much needed new ideas. Although there has been a fresh approach and its been good but the same old dithering, over loyalty and muddled thinking has finally crept in again. All we are short of is more genuine goal threat in the opposition box - quite important for a promotion chasing football team. Then there probably wouldn't be much argument against him sticking around a bit longer. Potentially massive upheavel in summer if he did go though and all the backroom lot had to be replaced as well. Be no surprise if they just gave it to Venus instead 😲
  20. The mooted two year contract will take him till his 60 and his pension fund will be looking nice by then. Can we really see him wanting the hassle of another gig right now when he can coast another 2 seasons here ? I agree he'll likely be the one who decides when he's finished at Rovers but it won't be in the near future. Load of departures in summer, wheeling and dealing with his mate Parko bringing more youth in. No expectations next season after the summer turnaround. Doddle, he loves it here.
  21. Exactly but it'll fall on deaf ears of those who don't want to know. I'm no fan of the owners but they have provided several opportunities to sign another proper forward since last summer. Those running the team have looked clearly identified a few but decided to bin it off when they haven't come off. They and they alone have made the call to just get a few bods in and leave it at that and continue the mix and match policy hoping something comes off. Things could look a lot better if and when BBD and Dack are available but it might well be too late them. Smart management would've taken some kind of insurance policy again when we were in such a good position. Even a cheap lump who can just go in the middle and cause problems would help. Might score one goal only but it could be a bloody important one. To never have that option in the ranks is ridiculous in this league if you seriously want to get out of it.
  22. They could have found a striker on loan from somewhere had the desire been really there. No point beating around the bush or throwing names around because they decided on utility men and hope for the best. Just plain facts i'm afraid backed up by various things the manager himself has said. It's their call.
  23. Maja who was virtually signed last summer until he flunked the medical. A few months later we can't afford him but we could afford Hedges.....😂 Our plonkers have been pulled again in favour of utility men.
  24. How do we actually know there was no money available from the owners for the right guy ? Come on, Markandy, Hedges, Giles, Zefuick..... how much for that lot in wages fees and signing on plus agents ? It's the first time in ages hes been able to do a decent amount of business in Jan but all he wanted really was squad players. He said so himself he wanted multi positional types, the types he's obsessed with. The types that never solve what is really needed. I'm convinced if he wanted 20k a week towards a loan signing striker he'd have got it. All too easy to continually pile everything at the owners door when Mowbray and his gang usually just do what they want. He's gone yet again for the safe options of people he can rotate and try and blend in wherever rather than try and tailor the play to serve a front man.
