  1. Most of us were cock a hoop when we signed Gallagher under the hapless mess that was Coyle and he did ok for us in a shambles of a side run by a clown. Have we come so far in that short time that in the absence of anything better we should be turning noses up at having him back in this squad on loan ? Not for me, he adds something a bit different and we'll be a bit stronger if he comes so it can't do any harm. In other news Burnley linked with Crouch and Vokes going the other way, now that's a shite piece of business Crouchy is a proper busted flush at that level now.
  2. Sky Sports 'sauce' are usually less credible than Nixon, he fills tiny columns they have to fill tv 24/7 zzzzzzzzzzz
  3. That doesn't look good if true what the hell has it got to do with him it's the managers call, unless.....
  4. They let you plug your laptop into the pub tv screen ? Fair play ... ?
  5. Last thing you do is go and chuck a massive 5 year contract at someone like Dack with his rep for getting distracted easily. Softly softly year on year is the best approach nice little extensions and pay rises when they are earned in fact we should deal with them all like that. If he wants to go he'll go and if someone offers out of this world money then we can't compete anyway but other similar clubs we should be able to match the wages and ambition but if not let him go and move on. He's good we don't want to lose him but we also need to evolve so we don't totally rely on him which we had begun to but seemed to have altered things recently so we don't as much.
  6. Perhaps a heavily weighted appearances type contract which is why they are freezing him out. There are ways around it like offering the loyalty bonus if you see your contract out or the club sells you where you get a lump at the end and a bit less per week. Got to be careful we don't end up in Leon Best territory with this though if there is actually anything in it.
  7. He won't be breaking any structure if he comes on loan with them picking up half the tab and it would be a nice shot in the arm to finish this season strongly. After that who knows...
  8. Agree with the above on the scattergun we seem to get managers planning for very little or nothing to spend so they are rooting around the lower end then all of a sudden there's money or money for decent wage loans and freebies. Then we've had guys expecting a healthy budget and lining up one or two good un's then being told no, also had a few with good players sold from underneath them. Bowyer had all three scenarios probably because he was here the longest until Mowbray. I think the trick is keep getting assets developed then when you inevitably lose one or two for good money there is still book value in the squad so the bankers don't panic and a bit can be reinvested even if the ownership turns the taps off again.
  9. Hopefully they forensically analysed where every penny was going and advised that it all should go into the football side of things not pockets.
  10. From what I've seen the Boro fans are a mix of gutted and apoplectic at him leaving although a lot of it could just be being used as a stick to beat Pulis rather than genuine Chapman leaving angst. Nowhere near the levels of hysteria on here as when super Downing left though....... ?
  11. The audit definitely appears to have been a turning point but again I think a lot is down to Mogga by the simple fact he's the most experienced and best qualified gaffer since Allardyce. I think they got lucky with him nothing more nothing less but maybe the advice from some with experience was get and experienced boss even if it's from the scrap heap and one from your favourite suppliers who've let you down time and again. Having seen Boro through a transition and laid foundations for Karanca then fought fires at Coventry alongside his success at West Brom he knows the score off t5the pitch as well as on it. Whatever happened they've had some proper football orientated advice from somewhere and they've listened so along with the Mowbray pitching up it's going well for a change. Once they get the right wind in their sails then you never know they could suddenly take a real interest in pushing it on although you always fear a big set of sales again at some point to cover running costs since the last lot !!! So important to not waste ANY window if you want to continue to build though.
  12. Last bloke to try and bring those over her got busted, no prizes for guessing who...
  13. Better than Graham though surely ? ?
  14. Wide striker as well, been before and continually linked, holidayed with some of our lot in the summer, oh also agent connections supposedly as well. Got to be a goer that one and TM wouldn't have to alter anything to accommodate him.
  15. I'd definitely be very wary on the BA noise the club put a few smokescreens out last time allegedly chasing a few names whilst really they seemed to be working quietly on some other bits like getting AA permanent and a few nailed down to better contracts.
  16. That Boro forum seemed to suggest they were inserting a buy back clause but surely they wouldn't get away with both unless the fee is a pittance.
  17. Buy back and sell on ?
  18. Steve looks like he could sink a few to be fair... ?
  19. Finish the season strongly and maybe a loan or two with view to buying In the summer is a large factor as well that's why some of us were getting tetchy with the old 'as you were' attitude that seemed to be creeping in, a foot off the gas it's ok we'll stay up midtable plod when a little push and effort could see a top 8 finish and interesting end to the season. Most would be happy with the midtable finish don't get me wrong but we are trying to rebuild the club on and off the park so every bit counts. Strong end of season and prospect of one or two good ones signing permanent or some good players coming in wets the appetite and surely would help ST sales as long as they don't do anything daft with price rises. If they did all then then slashed the prices we'd be cooking with gas but that's probably too much to ask in the current climate but something incentive based would help.
  20. The same agent who was allegedly set to bring Gallagher in and move his other client Nuttall out might not be happy though although i'd put money on that little scenario happening ahead of anything else.
  21. Ha ha don't worry it's a gentle dig somewhere he seems to get off doing to it everyone else ! Back to the transfers we seemed to enquire about a lot of decent players in the last window but not much concrete got done once fees and wages were known. If you want to move a couple out but are coming under scrutiny then drop a name or two in you might enquire about to deflect the flak a bit, tried and tested method. Not that i'm saying that's the case here but it's all speculation until someone arrives holding the shirt up and long shots usually are just that. Fingers crossed though.
  22. I'm sure that's happened in the past after all an enquiry is just an enquiry until real numbers are placed on the table. P.S Don't worry about the 'opposites' .. ??
  23. A scatter gun approach to forwards is more exciting that the one we've had with mids for years !
  24. Someone has finally found that war chest he buried in the garden a few years ago after an all nighter at the poker tables.
  25. All down to who's doing the recruiting really, Hughes had his rabbits out the hat moments with Nelson and Samba but Allardyce spent on Givet and big wages on Salgado as well as getting in a few others with the Warnock sale money.
