  1. Actually vaguely remember that from childhood I think it was before a game v Carlise Utd though no idea if we won it or not, crowd was probably only about 5k sadly.
  2. If they are doing it yearly it maybe needs one name from the glorious past and one more recent at a time as a bit like boxing you can't chuck all your favs in from the modern era all at once. A lot of huge name fighters are long retired before they get inducted, keep the interest going.
  3. It's the thought that counts and at least they are trying something although the lack of transfer activity doesn't really send out a statement of intent for the second half of the season. I expect the problems of lack of capable CH cover and the over reliance on Graham both of which have cause problems and probably cost a few points up to now will re-emerge. That will likely see the season peter out to a respectable midtable finish which seems the total of the managers ambition this season or those above him despite what noises they make sometimes. Plus points are seeing how the youngsters progress and maybe blooding one or two more which is nice to see for the regulars and part regulars.
  4. That defender lad we used to have who always filled in capably would be handy right about now wouldn't he !
  5. He'll be scooping it off here ?
  6. I doubt he's been all the way over there midweek just to pop into the museum.
  7. A lot of things have gone on in Zurich involving Rovers, Venkys and er....others ! Lets hope it was a planned constructive meeting and not Barry and his mates slipping under big sis radar again if indeed it was anything to do with Rovers at all.
  8. Good effort at least it's something along with the cat B pricing I hope it gets a few more in, a win or two first would be a nice incentive.
  9. They're all on x box live sadly, if they ever start a World Cup for football games on that England should win it hands down. Go outside ? Nah you might as well ask them to go to the moon the response would be the same ?
  10. Yes they'll certainly go for Cat A with this thinking Boro will bring 2k plus but I wouldn't be so sure they're a funny lot to call a bit like us. Last odd k'o tv game I remember against them was when scumbag was in charge here and Mowbray In charge of them on a Fri evening, they brought 690.... anything could happen but i'd expect about 1.5 from Boro but you never know. Can't say i'd blame Rovers for no ticket initiative in games like this as the impact would be minimal and more a case of tempting regulars who might otherwise watch at home than re-engaging the masses. Said it many times before that you need attractive fixtures at traditional kick off times to do that or big local derbies.
  11. Point 1 might well be connected to point 3 perhaps when it came to the last window.... ?
  12. There should be a Hall of Shame as well, that would be well stocked.
  13. I'd never ever want to throw a game but I suppose we could get Kean back in charge for that one off........
  14. They knew best on a lot of occasions and cocked a deaf un in ignorance on a lot others no doubt. They are trying to make up for it though Or it's just handy having this oversees loss maker on the books to hide a few profits from the tax man and play around with........
  15. It's an ongoing thing so Tugay will be in it soon enough and for me Brad edges him out for the first event given his achievements here,
  16. Tin hats in the post and be with you soon ?
  17. I agree 2-3 million should be enough for a big club to bounce back but it needs combining with the right management, Sunderland have just shelled out 4 million on 1 guy I think. Bolton played a blinder in getting Parkinson who'd gone close with Bradford so knew that league inside out and TM played a blinder in getting probably the best player in that div in Dack plus the club held it's nerve with some high earners. Not sure all that will apply to Ipswich all depends on who's steering it imo and of course if Evans will find a few quid or go damage limitation.
  18. Which is why I worry a bit that we are now in the growing the team to sell phase again (disguised as stability) and hoping it over achieves and pulls off the miracle but if not fine there'll be plenty to sell to plug the finances again. And the re-investment from that is already here in the shape of you know who.....
  19. Ipswich are doomed I think whoever goes in there save for a fire fighter like McCarthy ? Bit like we were a few years ago and Bolton under Davies/Gartside they seem to have owners content to fence a few quid through the books to pay the bills and keep the lights on but either baulk at or can't afford to do anything in terms of proper investment, accounting tools in short offsetting a bit of money from elsewhere and avoiding tax. Unless they get that investment or a takeover they could well be the next Charlton or Bolton I think they'll need a major turn around on and off the pitch to bounce straight back.
  20. Tom Cairney was good but he was lazy so his boss got it right preferring to build his side around the dynamic Jason Lowe.......
  21. Part right, all good gaffers have a plan and I think TM has but no way ever should you rest on your laurels or shoulder shrug and say it's ok we didn't expect too much this season anyway. Realistic is one thing but complacent is another, remain ambitious at all times, That doesn't have to mean promotion it just means try and have the best season possible not settle a midtable plod. To be fair I think he's trying to do that as you can't complain about the way they went about the game from the off on Sat but it's some of the players mentality I worry about and he's almost give them a free pass by pledging his loyalty to the regulars this season. Lets hope they don't switch off now the window is past !
  22. Never knew him Super as Atko until his midfield conversion and probably not even till long after that when King Kenny got the best out of him. I always thought his name was F###in Hell Atkins not Mark.
  23. I was never that impressed with him tbh although bad luck with injury but even on a good day he was best of a very bad bunch.
  24. Berg as well although he lacked in height compared to the others but excellent reader of the game.
  25. Ewood just needs the Riverside stand redoing with a smaller capacity and as close to the pitch as the JW that would help the atmosphere no end it would contain what murmurs there are out of there and give the BBE occasional noise something else to bounce off, like most other grounds in other words. Team needs building first though, I hope Tony isn't saving these mythical surplus transfer funds in a Post Office account to donate to the building of a Tony Mowbray Riverside Stand !
