Fair points but can't keep trotting out the same lines every time we end up spanked when we really shouldn't it's as if we should just be quiet let the season peter out, finish 12th then celebrate. There are frailties that crop up every now and then that need addressing and TM his staff and the players will go through it all and analyse it also probably have a bit of a moan at each other as well so let the fans get it off their chests.# Always going to be anger and disappointment after a defeat like that but it shouldn't be mistaken for hysteria I don't think, just wait till we lose three on the bounce then it'll come ?

You do wonder what goes through the mind of these clowns going to all that time trouble and expense then skitting their own player. No matter what your opinion on it on a match day you should be behind them but the way his signing has been handled and publicised etc it was only a matter of time. The blame here lies elsewhere and like has been discussed on here the guy needs pulling to one side and be told bust a gut every time you get on or you won't get on. The pussy footing around him has been a bit ridiculous when you consider how some of our home grown have been handled. This is exactly why he should be in the U23s for a spell as well as giving him some games and a chance to restore a bit of confidence it takes him out the spotlight and away from the minority of pitchforks being sharpened.

Maybe Beno will end up there at this rate......

Salford City and Orient are paying some of their lads 3 /4 grand per week and I know a lad who's on that at a league 2 club and he's barely a first teamer. Armstrong was on 20 grandish at the toon and took a pay cut to come but I think they added an extra year to the 3 on offer to swing it, assuming he'll be on 15 grand here. Brereton will be on something approaching 10k if not on or above that it's blind naivety to assume he'll be on sub five grand per week. Despite recent austerity measures we still pay decent wedge at Rovers and don't forget they had to lure him here. 3 or 4 grand per week for a possible 7 million signing ? get out of town,,,,?

Looking at the bigger picture of his tenure so far you've got to include the whole package of things he's brought to the job and for me the main reason for that is his experience something we just haven't had under this lot. He's probably only done some sensible things a lot of others similar to him would've done but that was alien to this club and its agent led revolving door policy. Also key to it is he's seemed to have backing right through the club from top to bottom for some reason, another thing no one else has had not even Bowyer. He's used all his nous to press the right buttons or he has the right connections but going off the 'whole package' and looking just at the team stuff then yeah i'd probably describe him as an upper midtable manager, tactics, signings etc and I think that's where we'll finish so there's probably a correlation. You could say he'll have reached his ceiling then but he does have a promotion on his cv but as fans of some of his other clubs will testify too he seems to enter mirky water after a few years but maybe with the backing and grip on the club he has here he might improve on that.

More Armo's less Beno's in the future please !

It's not easy to stop terminal rot inside a club although you get one or two who might contain it briefly but Mowbray has seemingly eradicated it and not only that but started brand new growth from a clean base. Not an easy task even with a bit of money, plenty examples around so he must have something about him. A director of football in the making here if he fancies stepping back a bit in the next year or two ? As for Clownpants...... come on get a grip ?

We were very nearly men under Mackay so nowt new apart from the eye watering sums of money a wage bill lol Oh and the breaking up and selling off of the recent version which no one in their right mind would rule out again by next summer if the overdraft is maxing out again in India.

Agree on the wastrel bit but that was mostly down to the vermin trying to run the show . I'm all for signing young players like that for a bit of money even if they have to flit between the U23's and first team squad in their development. But when you are talking these sums of money over the next four years or however it is structured it really needs to be balanced against the first teams immediate requirements and where you want to be at the end of this season and next. That's where it falls down a bit a Rovers now with this signing.
-
Maybe there's personal reasons or something it's odd he's not been in the squad after being a regular but again highlights a transfer window just gone, a reluctance to do anything but only 1 proper RB on the books ! This attitude of it's ok we've got a few round pegs to chuck in a square hole if need be soon bites on the arse it'll end up the same at CB & CF before the season is out.
-
But Burnley always said they'd sell out a ground like Ewood every week if they were a regular Prem club like we used to be .............? Like every other wind and piss myth give it enough time and it'll be blown out the water, i'd love to meet some of that lot I used to come across years ago now.
-
Why compare to someone like Austin ? You saying that someone like that is the only possible alternative to Brereton ?
-
The first instalment, hefty signing on wedge, years wages and possibly a loan fee/deposit will all have gone on the years budget and that won't be an insignificant amount.
-
He can out think a few in this league and that means we'll get some good results but he also gets rinsed regularly and he really needs to drop the old pals act in terms of not upgrading regulars if he gets the chance.
-
We have a right back on the books so why aren't we using him at right back ? Simple things like this help undo us frequently.
-
For the umpteenth time this season we fall to bits when Graham goes of and for the umpteenth time we have a set up relying soley on the Graham/Dack axis. We need a transfer window and some money to address this.................. and maybe a lightbulb going off in a mangers head to use the backing that might be offered to him.............
-
Rodwell is a bit like Mulgrew in as much as he's a nick it off the toe type, usually reads the game well but is found wanting against pace, movement and aggression that's why sometimes you just need a rock at the back to block/clear their lines without actually thinking about it. This is the Championship though boys and girls and this is what it is it's a crazy league at times full of good but very inconsistent players that's why a lot of them spend their careers in it.

Square pegs in square holes ....... ??????
-
500 Rovers fans slung out after one bloke starts a Brereton chant and gets hammered by a swathe of foul mouthed Neanderthals who still refuse to get behind him yet......
-
1500 I think

I'm not going down that road but i'm certain there have been transfers announced as whole package deals when big figures have been banded about although i'm not saying it's been here but it probably has. Like a lot of other things in football it's the smoke and mirrors dress things up as it suits scenario. Nobody actually knows except the club accountants and the agents but they probably should announce every deal like that including signing on fees and agents fees seeing as we want more clarity in the game. Maybe someone will figure out when our next set of figures gets released. Probably isn't the case in the BB signing I was just trying to fathom a bit more sense to the 7 million figure but i'm more inclined to go with they've committed to it over 4 years as seems to be the talk down Notts way.
-
It would take a weight off his shoulders if they did that maybe although on the other point the overall value of a deal including wages isn't unheard of but yet again it's the reporting of it. Dress it up that way so it sounds like a glittery signing and statement to the buying side and pacifies the selling clubs fans a bit, I believe it was similar with Scott Dann coming here.
-
True but i'm still finding it difficult to believe they'd commit to a 7 million guaranteed fee plus possible add ons for a kid like this despite todays silly market price wise compared to the past. Tends to go against everything Mowbray's trying to preach.
-
So it could possibly be a 7 million pound deal over 4 years including wages ? Might sound a bit more realistic if that was the case.

@Biz Things change quickly in football the min he has a good game or notches the roof will probably come off it was similar with Davies, Grabbi, Wilcox etc. For now though he'll just have to chalk it off as character building i'm afraid and hopefully IF he can actually hear these 'swathes' of hecklers he thinks i'll shut you up and ups his efforts a notch because that is needed. Most fans are giving him the benefit of the doubt in the ground at the min so as long as it stays like that he'll be ok.
