Wrong! It's obvious that Jeffers possesses real quality. But I would not argue if you were to say that his daft mickey mouser head is full of crap. -

Very similar to the last 2 seasons. It'd be nice to start before December sometime. -
Yet another travesty against t'big club. It was almost as savage and gut wrenching as Durkin disallowing Sherwoods goal at OT in 94/95 season........ the little git was the only person including the entire MU team, the entire crowd and in fact the whole country who thought Shearer had fouled Keane!
-
Hmmm the old green eyed God stuffed us just as it appears to be stuffing WHU. Fine player and good captain that he was Sherwood was never European Player of the year though was he? If he had been then he'd have been on similar money I'd wager. Treatment table / glassback / Wots fave's are another issue.
-
He's certainly looking a lot older all of a sudden.
-
Correct. Long way to go yet but those streaky 2 points gained in the 4th min of injury time might end up being very damaging for us. Still very funny to see West Ham fans doing 'Geordie' impressions after the match.
-
Any more info on that? Must say his head must be well screwed (scouse attitude?) cos from what little we have seen he should be vying with the splendidly improved Derbyshire in partnering Benni. His talent is way in excess of our other strikers.

[Archived] Mark Hughes - Good Choice ?
thenodrog replied to Ste B's topic in Football Messageboard Archive
If Hughes goes to one of the big 4 then we cannot complain and it would have a flip side...... It will mean that he has carried us to success above our station. Similarly if one of the big continental clubs comes a calling although that is less likely imo. If however he does a Lucas and goes to a rival club that offers more filthy lucre then I will be seriously p1ssed off. Alternatively we should remember that Graeme Souness's first 3 years in tenure were a resounding success so by that yardstick in another 2/3 years we may well be calling for Sparky's head on a platter. -
Why on earth would he ever want to do that? That is unless WHU pay up his contract / have already written in that the deal is null and void if they go down.
-
Did West Ham actually own the player? I thought he was on some sort of loan deal. Must say it's typical of recent Lpool dealings. As with Neill and Bellamy ..... 'if they think they can get owt for nowt then they are there with a bucket'.

Big point for Wigan tonight at Watford. 10 men for 70 mins and 1-0 down but they still managed a draw. It now puts them 6pts above the bottom 3 with a vastly superior goal diff to the Hammers.

It seems Maclarens strenuous denials that (in desperation no doubt) he had rung around the senior players to ask them whether he should bring Beckham back into the squad may have been just more hot air from the nincompoop! http://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/tm_...-name_page.html Somehow I cannot imagine the likes of the great managers of my time messrs Ramsey, Shankly, Clough or even todays Ferguson, Wenger or Mourhinho, never mind the lesser lights of Allardyce and Hughes ringing their own players who to ask who they should pick to play. The man is NOT a manager and never will be as long as he has the proverbial aperture. -

I know about that requirement Jan but if the RFW and Big Sam can pick and choose whether to be interviewed by the Beeb thereby breaking their contractual obligations then I guess all others could do the same. I wonder if PR type chappies will end up being employed to represent clubs? If so I might apply. -

Strange that so many managers still speak to the TV camera's directly after a match. Even stranger that their chairman allow em to. I'll wager Sam n RFW's lives are so much easier now without the beeb shoving mikes under their noses and goeding them to overreact. Whats more when they do choose to speak (Sam last week) people are more disposed to listen. -

Judging by attendance figures I think it's already started Fife! -

I do think Heskey played a big part. All he had to do was follow his shot that hit the post and make sure that he followed it in. He'll never forget that mistake as long as he lives..... and especially if Wigan get relegated on goal difference. -

Balancing out the big club affect is the reason that I am so in favour of the introduction of video refereeing for important incidents. -

It's not often we agree Gunner! Which in itself is testament to Maclaren's mangerial ability and the FA's criminal ineptitude. -

Simple fact is that the only England manager to win anything was the only manager who was not a 'YES' man and who ignored internal politics as well as the clueless press and media hacks. -

Well I must have no chance cos I'd drop at least half of them from the squad (A cole, Owen and Lampard) and the rest would start on the bench with the exception of Joe Cole and Wayne Rooney who would be amongst the first on the team sheet. Scholes would be invited back and Gerrard could watch Nolan from the bench. Less to do with ability and more concerned with ego's, personalities and attitudes. Stuff the FA, Stuff the press and the media, stuff the agents, managers etc. Just build a TEAM who are willing to play and sweat blood for the team and not a collection of big heads who are simply playing for themselves and who appear now so completely detached from reallity. Tell you what if our first team played that lot every week we'd qualify for Europe no prob! But it'll never happen.... -

The never ending Lampard/ Gerrard debate...... Never play the pair of em but drop either and it will galvanise both. -
Sorry to rock the boat but imo David Bentley is nowhere near England material yet. Let him develop further and then if he gets a chance with Maclaren gone he will be better equipped to take it..... ........ alternatively if we are planning to sell him soon then a cap or two would see his value soar.

Maclaren makes Old Turnip Head look like Alf Ramsey for goodness sake! The gin and tonic brigade at Lancaster Gate have fcuked up big style yet again. Maclaren simply does not and obviously never has had nor ever will have the necessary abilities for the England post. His qualifications are not just unremarkable they are non existent! I would even suggest he will have very few fans amongst the Boro faithful. I said on here when he was appointed that the press and media would treat him like a a lamb to the slaughter in quick time. Mark my words all the sh1t that he is lined up for will end up destroying him, and his new bird, and his estranged family. He needs to question whether his personal ego trip is worth it? Lets hope somebody sets fire to his girlfriend in a chippy and he resigns ...... it really would be for his own good. -

And thats the ONLY reason that he got the job. The man is the worst motivator that I have seen in the Prem since Santini, perrin and Kidd! btw....... And that Woodgate is an absolute disgrace! He looks like he lives in cardboard city! What a pr1ck he looks with his rats tails hair style. England players should wear jackets and ties when on international duty and thats that.
