  1. Sorry Simon but I think that you have got a badly skewed outlook on this.... 1. EVERY player at BRFC is playing under the terms of a contract that has a sell by date. Amoruso quite legally exploited the situation far more than Neill and I'm sure that you will see many others doing likewise. 2. One of your favourites Craig Bellamy ripped us off too if you want to view it that way. You can be sure that he'll have had a massive signing-on fee in one way or another cos just a day or two later and we could have demanded twice as much for him. Bellamy's quite legally 'done' us for a few million so whats the difference? No wait I'll tell you........ Bellers lied that he was going nowhere! 3. The difference between Neill and most others who have left is that Neill has been quite open and above board about his intentions whilst still continuing to play out his contract honestly, professionally and without any shenanigins that we see employed freqently in these situations. This is happening all too frequently....... Either I've managed to educate a few on here over the years OR I'm losing my touch!
  2. Bloody odd that...... they havn't mentioned that goal that he scored against em last year in the fa cup.
  3. You really must have a tiny intellect if you really believe all that shyte. 1. BRFC and Neill have both conducted their business superbly. We were not ready to let him go in summer as we had no replacement. He was contracted until next summer so we played him every game and he responded well and in a mature and responsible manner..... No histrionics, no tantrums, no training ground sh1t stirring just solid professional performances from him. 2. btw Neill IS a professional player i.e. he plays for hire or reward! And like 99% of all professionals will sign for the club that rewards him most. Can you manage to get your head around that concept Oscar? How else do you think we signed him in the first place from Millwall or has that never even crossed your mind? Now that his contract is coming to an end we have been able to negotiate a profit from the original deal...compare that to the behaviour and morality of Barry Fergusuon! Furthermore why are ANY of the players at BRFC? .... and I include Dunn in that! Do you think that we are paying less than Bolton offered him? If you do then dream on. One word: brainless Q. Whats got an IQ of 3500? A. Entire lower tier of the Blackburn End ..........So exactly what reaction did you big brave numpty's expect ffs? If you must know I was calling you far worse!
  4. Or at least until West Ham up the offer to us commesurate with the amount they are willing to pay him! I've said before on this thread that we can afford to play hard ball re:Neill. Somebody suggests that Rovers and Bolton are offering to pay £2m for Distin who is out of contract in the summer and that he wants 45k pw. If that is the case and WHU have offered Neill 60k pw then we are right to value him at £2.5m+. Up to now Hughes / Williams are playing a blinder.
  5. Why? Do we not start paying him until he has made his debut?
  6. Careful I think he's Todds too.
  7. I think that you do scouts of those times a diservice as every other player of quality that we had ended up playing in higher divisions pdq.
  8. Simon, We all know that Roger Jones was a cracking keeper but if he had been as good as our misty eyed memories would have us believe then he would not have..... 1. Signed for BRFC and 2. made all those appearances for us. He would have played all his career in the top division. Good keeper and one of the best that I have seen at ewood since the days of Fred Else BUT in no way was he even fit to be mentioned in direct comparison to Brad Freidal! imo Brad was MoM yesterday at City and he is having another cracking season! In fact I have him down as still one of the top 3 in the Prem. And it absolutely beggars belief that a couple of years ago there was a thread on here suggesting that he was past it! And it beggars belief more that there was plenty of support for the instigator whoever it was!
  9. Neill has been honest in his intention to play and give his best as captain and player whilst still declaring that he will leave when his contract is up. So now he should continue with his honesty and declare that he has gone to WHU simply because they are willing to pay him more than anybody else. btw I guess Gollum's opened a can of worms and I would imagine that his office will be besieged over the next few days by the agents of WH's players demanding parity. It might just backfire on them if jealousy sets in in the dressing room.
  10. Quite right... That was Benni. I meant Boro.
  11. No of course I didn't Fife. I was attempting to apply humour to the quote. or as it says in the good book........... 'and some seed fell on stony ground'.
  12. 1. His absolutely pin point assist for Nonda gained us two points v Liverpool. 2. Ditto for the first and pivotal Derbyshire goal against Wigan. Correct Simon .... and I dearly wish we would sign a better player to pressurise Neill and his agent! Indeed we should already have done so. But imo Warnock is not that man. Any criticism for not replacing him 'pre-emptively' must be aimed at the mgment and not at Neill though cos he's hardly likely to be expected to scout his own replacement is he?
  13. Right Oscar BUT the salient point is ........... why would you do all that if your employee was only on a 4 year contract (of your own making) which was virtually fulfilled? There is a big difference! btw this made me laugh.... CARS BEFORE CAPS IS CRAZY - PEARCE Posted 19/01/07 10:37EmailPrintSave Stuart Pearce has hit out at today's young players for being more interested in fancy cars than football. Pearce told the story of a player who he recently asked, "Would you rather have a Ferrari or an England cap?" "He told me 'well, definitely a Ferrari because they are fantastic, aren't they?" said the Manchester City manager. "Thats just alien to me." Pearce offered the anecdote after hearing of Lucas Neill's decision to move to West Ham after the London club offered him a higher wage than Liverpool. err I love Stuart Pearce's forthright honesty etc but will somebody please tell him that Neill is Australian?
  14. I may be wrong but imo warnock is a poorer player than Neill and more injury prone.
  15. There is a very odd look to that poll. It's surely not half term is it? By far the majority have voted for the most stupid and obtuse option imaginable! Lift everyone the club?!? Eh? No one 'around' the club cares two hoots about BRFC in actuallity..... liklehood is that they will they will all support some other club anyway! Theirs is just a well paid job. Only those over the perimeter wall may be slightly uplifted. The likes of Bellamy / Shearer / Duff / Hendry / Sherwood and Duffer all in their prime would uplift me far more I've got to say.
  16. Quite right waggy. I'll upset a few of the perrenial moaners on here by saying this but for once we are able to play hard ball in this transfer window and with the moeny swilling around at the moment we are sat firmly in the driving seat. It's Win Win.
  17. Me! Wise up Dan I guess we'll never know but I'd wager a pound to a penny we are NOT paying him less than Bolton offered!
  18. Actions being taken by clubs to ensure that get a bigger slice of the new TV deal simply mean that they will never keep it! Madness.
  19. What a lot of small minded, small town, backward and bitter people there are on here. Stick to the facts people rather than silly girly emotions... 1. He signed for BRFC for 4 years cos we offered more for his services than Millwall. 2. He's virtually all but seen his contract out as promised and it's been our decision to sell him now for OUR own profit. 3. Taking wages out of the equation we've had excellent injury free service AND made money on him. 4. He's signed for WHU for 2.5 years cos they offered more for his services than BRFC. Just what is the bloody big issue children?
  20. Dunne and Toogs play completely different roles though. I've already said that if I was the old RFW with the talent at his disposal I'd sign a virtually contractless Tugay to share duties with Carrick (and teach him how to play a bit ) like a shot.
  21. 1. Why on earth would they offer him £50k pw? From what I understand (from reports) £30K PW would have done fine. 2. I cannot blame him for going to a lower placed relegation threatened team if those figures are true. Greedy? Nah who wouldn't do the same especially as it's his last chance of a really big pay day? I did have a sneaky feeling since this time last year that he would end up with the mags but this sort of dosh will blow that away. 3. Cash is fine by us imo. I didn't want Warnock and am not impressed by Konchesky. There must be better players about than those two. 4. We'll miss his ever present fitness, and I wonder if Brett Emerton will be at all affected?
  22. Right I don't want to spoil the party but judging by the poll there is an awful lot of blind optimism on here at the moment. So just to inject a touch of reallity does anyone want to speculate as to where he will play and who we should drop? 1. I've never seen anything in him to suggest that he can replace Tugay as a playmaker (although this may indeed turn out to be his future given his physique). 2. Savage?..... No way Sav beats the drum and covers more ground and closes more players down and breaks opponants moves up more in one match than Dunny will do in four. He's a getter and giver. Dunne isn't suited to that role simple as. 3. Bentley? Pederson? Didn't he fall out with GS cos he wouldn't play wide midfield? Anyway does he have the pace or lungs for it? So imo 4. That just about leaves him to play the point of a 5 man midfield just behind a lone striker. The role in fact that Rooney and in the past Scholes have played for MU (and a place that Sparky occupied at times too). But that does mean playing with just one striker! A point that might make many of our 4-4-2 purists cough a little.
