[Archived] Refs Are Biased By "big" Clubs
thenodrog replied to philipl's topic in Football Messageboard Archive
More ammo for this thread. Hot on the heels of an amazing 5 mins ET awarded for BRFC v Liverpool we see more bias at OT. Rooney did a Neill / Henchoz / Benni and went to remonstrate with the linesman for apparently ruling him offside so instead of booking Rooney Dein sent off Sodje! -
dont think I inferred 'direct'. But only an ignoramous or a fool would infer that there is NO correlation. God how I would love Gordy to introduce Road fund licences for cyclists!

[Archived] Should Dunny Have Come Home?
thenodrog replied to blinddevotion's topic in Football Messageboard Archive
Out of contract in summer. Very dodgy on the injury front! U21 honours. Compare that valuation with what we can expect to get for Lucas Neill who is similarly out of contract but is hardle ever injured and a full and regular international player. If we can get 4m for Lucas (yeah right) then Brum can have 2m for Fat Boy Slim. -
You can rule me out of that category. I prefer getting drunk to drowning through trying.

Try reading a little slower Fife.

Personally I think it should be! I may be a minority here amongst so many narrow backs but when in our long history have we ever been in this far in a European competition? And imo there is a damned good chance that we might well never be likely to do so again in our lifetime? Thats why I would have gone to Saltzberg but for work commitments so I reluctantly missed out so after going to Krakow for 3 days I am now off to Cologne for similar and I can assure you that a piffling Cat A ticket is sod all in comparison.

Possibly '4' but especially '8' would come mighty close. His vision was crap though '1' ......... he should have gone to Man U!

Those are points about Beckham that I made many many times. However here we go Gally / Beckham 1. First touch / Control..... 6 / 9 2. Pace.......................... 3 / 5 3. Tackling ability............ 2 / 5 4. Heading ability...... ......3 / 3 5. Dribbling skills..............6 / 6 6. Stamina ..................... 4 / 9 7. Crossing ability ............6 / 9 8. Attitude ...................... 2 / 9 9. Vision ......................... 7 / 9 Quite a difference eh Den. And please bear in mind 1. that not all the above talents are equal e.g. Attitude being far more imp than heading for a winger. and 2. I don't give 10's.

Rather predictably and despite having spent more filthly lucre than Midas, Cresus and the rest of the Prem combined, the little Portugese ponce is blaming their recent poor form on injuries! Well, welcome to the real world Maureen and long may it continue!

Hmmmm...

'obvious'! eh? Wot are you on Gav. I have not seen an ounce of passion for the club out of him all season. He's come on frequently when we are defending a slim lead and has simply hidden away. 92 er says he was woeful at Charlton well at Anfield when we were hanging on for a point and it was all hands to the pumps he was like a frightened rabbit and avoided the action as much as he could. This 'Blackburn lad' malarky is plain bloody stupidity on your part Gav. I think you are guilty of self dellusion. Passionate recent players? Hendry, Shearer, Dickov, Speedie, Freidal, Garner spring to mind. Even the lesser lights of Le Saux, Flitcroft, Flowers, Hughes, Sherwood, Reid exhibit or exhibited real passion on the pitch, and guess what? Not a Blackburnian amongst them! Recent Blackburnians Beatty, Dunn and Gallagher cannot hold a bloody candle in terms of passion to those lads. Absolutely obvious that a passionate attitude is not governed by 'where' you are born and raised but rather 'how'. Anyway the best judge of Gallagher will be who comews in for him should he be sold! Football managers are not stupid and if he leaves BRFC I will predict with confidence that it will not be to a Premiership club. He's not enough talent for one thing and the only clubs likely to look at him will be the borassic likes of struggling Sheff Utd / Watford and their managers know that if the ability is lacking a player with genuine spirit and never say die attitude is required...... and Gally has neither. Tell you what lets examine his 'talents', I'll put my 'Gally' asessment out of 10 of the basic talents required to be a top player..... and I'll try to be fair. 1. First touch / Control..... 6 2. Pace...... 3 3. Tackling ability...... 2 4. Heading ability...... 3 5. Dribbling skills...... 6 6. Stamina .............. 4 7. Crossing ability ..... 6 8. Attitude ............... 2 9. Vision .................. 7 It aint enough by far. Does anybody else see anything more than that?

LB maybe?
-
Just where is Jeffers? Am I alone in a suspicion that his absence is not totally injury related as was weakly reported a few matches ago? It's a sure sign something is amiss when even the LT goes quiet and never mentions his injury or a return date etc.
-
Well it's about a 40:40 bet so you aren't going out too much on a limb are you? On the face of it there will be a big influence by who we sign to replace him and our position in the Prem come the end of Jan. I cannot see us allowing Neill to leave if relegation is still a major concern. But Neills professional attitude since August could be down to a handshake agreement between him and sparky to allow him to leave in Jan in order for us to but time to find his replacement. Who knows but the latter scenario does fit.
-
I'm not. Nelsen and Todd looked easily the strongest pairing last season. They complemented each other well.
-
I didn't notice anything different in the Riverside. The only time we were mowed out with citizens of IndoPak descent was v Man Utd! Odd cos they used to be deemed a 'catholic club'! I guess it will not be long before that description becomes widely amended.

Gripping the back post'll do imo. -
44 days in Feb!....... That sure is some leap year!
-
Good post but there is no need for your suggestion in the second paragraph. We cannot afford the luxury of pratting about with a non achiever until we are certain sure of beating relegation, and even then there is the league positional bonus against giving weak players one more chance.
-
1. You sound as if you disapprove of that policy Simon. 2. Correct! You are indeed spot on there..............The match in the middle of February is just outside Cologne.
-
It's more likely depending on negotiations that he will leave nearer to the end of January imo. btw maybe not too relevent or maybe very relevent but according to the LT Neill's just had a large scale planning application granted for massive work to his Turton home! Wonder who might be picking the tab up for that given that bungs in the form of brown paper bags of readies appear to be under severe pressure at the moment! Whoever it is I think we can rule out Barca or Inter.
-
Fraid I'm not holding my breath Tris. I think you are guilty of affording far too much rational thought to the average supporter of BRFC.
-
Only my opinion of course but given a fully fit squad the pair of them would be watching the match from the bench.

What about trading Neill for Crouch in Jan...... and play him at centre half? -
Right Fife lets all pretend that diminished spending power through higher taxation amongst the working population of Blackburn and surrounding districts does not matter at all and will not make one jot or iota of a difference to the attendances at Ewood Park. Buckets of sand all round then eh?
