Eddie........ I just filched this from archive. Some intriguing posts given the benefit of hindsight! http://www.brfcs.co.uk/mb/index.php?showtopic=10285&st=200 Is that bet still on? I still dont know whether to take it or not! -

When I were a lad any dubious decisions were always given in favour of the defending side. Nowadays it appears the rules have been altered to give any dodgy decisions to the big club. -

Not being churlish but I have never seen anything from Jenas to ever suggest that he is England squad material. Defoe yes, King yes, Robinson yes, whilst the juries out on Carrick (only because there are so few around that play his position.) But Jenas!? Reminds me too much of that other overrated waster Kieron Dyer. I guess it's just the usual Spurs influence eh? -

There are two types of feelings after losing a match Abbey. After losing today I cannot wait for the next rovers match whereas 2 years ago I was dreading the next game. -

You don't need to apologise for the cupid stunt Den. You should diss him for being so churlish. -

I would imagine that Dunne may be short of stamina after so long out. He may well not have 90 mins in him yet. -

Wouldn't it be easier and more honest to simply hold your hand up and admit that you were wrong eddie? -

Hell of a good full page spread on Hughes and BRFC in the daily mail today. Cant find a link though. -
[Archived] Mark Hughes - Good Choice ?

Negative? I prefer to be thought of as Realistic, realistic, realistic, Dave. Have you learned nothing from your lifetimes observation of professional football? Catch 22 innit? If nobody comes in for our manager it means he is useless. That means we will inevitably have to replace him. Merry go round. Either way I expect Hughes and Co to be long gone in 3/4 years time. -

That is all it is about in a nutshell. If the right club comes along Hughes and his team will be off in a flash and make no mistake! They seem very a very determined and agendad managemant team. On a long contract a moneyed club will of course have to pay dear for his services and such a large compensation demand will put a few less rich clubs off and have them target 'lower hanging fruit' from another club. Big Sam famously is on a 10 year deal at the Reebok which must have put quite a few clubs off approaching him in the past. -

Correction LeChuck........ you mean me and Mark Hughes! Still you know best I suppose. I knew somebody would raise that. ..................... P W D L F A W D L F A PTS 5TH Blackburn 27 9 2 2 22 13 4 2 8 12 18 43 So 14 points out of 43 and a poor goal scoring record even with 4-4-2 suggests nothing spectacular there. I'm tempted to site the examples of West Brom, West Ham and Everton as being more relevent. And don't forget flopsy MU were out of sorts at the time and the MU fans famously jeered the old RFW because he didn't play 4-4-2. Precisely Simon. imo In this particular game it is more important to not let Spurs win than to actually win ourselves! Win home draw away should see us fine. A lot of Spurs threat is from their strikers dropping deep. The Axe would prevent much of that. Also players are available on the bench to revert to 4-4-2 should the need arise. -

[Archived] Club Up For Sale?

Probably a good time to sell. Crowds falling but 5th in the table so guaranteed Sky dosh for another couple of years. from the Telegraph....... "One of the problems is the number of Premiership clubs in the area. That corner of the country now has seven - Blackburn, Wigan, Bolton, Liverpool, Everton, Manchester United and Manchester City." Now who would have thought there were too many clubs around us permanently limiting our income until some fall by the wayside or are merged? Silly stupid fool that journo eh? The man must be a complete nincompoop in facing up to the bare facts, truth, reallity and inevitability of the situation like that. He should have a spell on Fantasy Island (like most of our members and a certain member of our admin , must have every so often) to restore his blinkered vision and blind faith in fairy tales. As it is the situation is black and white......if not enough Blackburn people want a top team badly enough there will not be one. Why do people expect the members of one wealthy family have to shoulder the burden? ......... Especially when most of em dislike footy intensely anyway. -

We are embroiled in a £5m action with reluctant insurers in the high court at the minute over apparently buying a crock in the past. Signing Dunny would be like sticking your hand in the flames and getting burnt and then doing it again!........ Would we be able to insure him? And do we really need to give history a chance to repeat itself? -

Hmm I fancied Spurs for a top 6 place this season....last season, after they beat us here. They had been absolutely awful but had just sacked Santini and replaced him with Jol (player power for sure) when they turned up and rolled us over. 2 weeks prior and we would have won no problem. ( The Newcastle of last season). Anyway they had a cracking squad which has since been strengthened and have 3 strikers that are at least as good as our best ....Bellamy. On paper they should walk it BUT inconsistency is their achilles heel. I know they should be up for it on Sunday and that should work against us but most of their squad has been away on international duty and like the Arse might just be a little too complacent v little old Blackburn as a result. Difficult to call. If we get 1-0 up or keep it level for 60 mins we could frustrate em enough for their heads to drop and the crowd to get at em allowing us to go in for the kill.........but if they go 1 or 2 up then its curtains. If I were Hughesy I would initially go with the axe in a 4-5-1 switching later in the second half to nap em BUT I'm not Hughes and he may well elect to go head to head, in order to not erode the confidence of the squad which has seen 4-4-2 gain such good results. Whatever it's difficult to call. -

Ho Ho Ho............ Ha Ha Ha............Ho Ho Ho..... Hee Hee Hee.......Ho Ho Ho ......Ho Hum Hah............repeat to fade. He's just a gibbering embarrassment more suited to commenting on blindfolded pillow fights on greasy poles than football. We're prob stuck with him forever cos I imagine in the millenium + years a combination of the H&S Exec and ambulance chasing lawyers will never allow shows like 'It's a Knockout' to be filmed ever again. -
Sorry Jan my mistake for you not understanding my post. I was actually referring to season ticket sales.

Stuart Hall should have been pensioned off after 'its a knockout'! ..........No before it! He brings absolutely nothing to Prem footy anymore..... if he ever did in the first place. Cant stand listening to him. -
I've mentioned this before but I do know quite a lot of people who work this rigid 4 day on 4 day off routine which means that they miss a fair few home games one way or another and I feel this is one of the reasons that attendances are dwindling and the pubs are filling. Once a routine is broken it's difficult to re-introduce what was once an accepted habit.

Yes but preferably somewhere between that and the half season ticket equivalent price. The latest offers would make that look daft though.

Quote Paul Do you really think the commercial people are not busy on the phones trying to sell pacakges to local business? Quote Thenodrog I have a local business and yes I think I can recall one phone call about that........ in the 16 years since the JW revolution! How many calls have you had Paul? Quote Paul None but then my business has an 0161 number and I'm the only non-Utd or City fan. Who cares? MU I expect are full up for Corporate Hospitality and quiteb possibly City too. They will be wildly expensive so how about an alternative at Ewood? Why do you forget that Corporate hospitality is less dependent on actual support than ST sales! My mate was a senior partner in a large Leeds based (offices elsewhere in the UK) legal company, they had corporate provision at Villa Park, Elland Road, Old Trafford and a 'table' in the prem suite at Ewood Park too. (Granted since he has left their employ I understand the table at Ewood has been curtailed BUT one thing he did say was that it was far too expensive anyway!) Dont forget how many BRFC supporters work in Manchester Paul. Can we afford not to even consider marketing our club in such an affluent environment? I hardly think so! Crikey we could even consider providing exec travel facilities to bring em. Why is all we talk about based around useless non profitmaking subjects like kids for a quid and attracting an Asian population that appeas to hold little affinity with BRFC?

Some good stuff there! EiT for CE?
