Can't beleive how Abromovitch has allowed Mourhino and Kenyon to cultivate so much ill will against Chelsea. It's all so unecessary when 2 years ago they were everybodies second favourite team. -
We've all gone in for them many times.....both ways. The ball is head high with the attacker running past a defender who is trying to flick it clear over his own head whilst the attacking player has the intention of heading it forward. It's best to lead with an arm to stop the kick but the only way is to outlaw overhead kicks. I always thought overhead kicks they were the most dangerous incidents to face in a crowded goalmouth anyway. I'd much rather face a stray elbow than a flying boot. I guess the rulemakers allow tham because every so often somebody gets lucky and the public get a spectacular overhead goal.

What a sample! I didn't see the game but I saw the incident on BBC breakfast show. Never mind the girly collision that Del Horno should have been sent off for playacting that he was hurt! He was screaming like a stuck pig. What mard arses these latins are. We used to watch and despise foreign footy in the 60,s and 70's. We abhorred their shirt pulling, spitting, cheating and diving antics. Well now thanks to the Prem we have em all here. Del Horno is just a Carlos Kickaball puff who should be widely renounced. What a comparison on the breakfast sport because the next article was on Brian Moore explaining the difference between a ruck and a maul and giving Chris Hollins a rake with his studs in the process. Hollins is a bit of a nancy but how I wish it had been Del Horno / Robben / Boa Morte / Ronaldo in there. Supreme England captain Martin Johnston commenting of football recently said 'Football players spend 90 minutes pretending they are hurt whilst we spend 80 minutes pretending we are not' Sums the overpaid tarts up nicely imo. -

What about the irony in the claims that Arsenal are the first British team to ever win at the Bernabau? British ffs!? Real actually fielded 2 more Brits! That poncy Champions League gets more farcical each year. -

I assume that the insurers did indeed cash the cheque that we supplied to provide insurance cover for him? If so then they must 'stand on' and stop whining. -

It might be a good idea to compare Maureens whinges about Ewood Park after the game last year to his current comments regarding Barca's objections. Are the press/media asleep or what? .....time to email a few organisations in the press / media pointing this out maybe? -
No need for that Aggy. Fife was quite correct.

McGarry wont like that Fife Rover! He's probably complaining to admin about you as we speak. ......careful though, it appears some of em actually listen!

Italian football and English are two very different styles. Capello would be asking some players to do stuff they are no good at and asking others to not attempt stuff they are good at. Worlds would collide. Anyway who the hell wants to watch Italian style footy played by an English team?

Careful Macca. Otherwise Colin will be accusing you of being obsessed with bringing muslims up on non-related subjects.

Exactly. Good post.

"Sir Alex Ferguson bemoaned his side's lack of presence in defence as Manchester United crashed out of the FA Cup in a 1-0 defeat to Liverpool. The Reds triumphed at Anfield as Peter Crouch headed home in the first half, and Ferguson, who lost Alan Smith to a horrific broken leg late on, said the absence of Rio Ferdinand was crucial to his side as they failed to cope with the hosts' aerial bombardment." If the old RFW is depending on Rio Ferdinands ability in the air he must be having a laff! Ferdinand is at his weakest when the balls in the air.

I wonder if the pain has managed to find the receptors in his brain yet? . If not its been a couple of hours now since he got hurt so I should think it'll be there before too long. I don't want to wish him ill when his career is threatened but I guess Smiths injury will receive similar levels of sympathy nationally that Keane's torn cruciate ligament did. Give him a fortnight to get over it and be on the road to recovery and I bet Robbie Savage will contact Interflora to order a bunch of pansies for him! Wonder what it is about MU midfielders that attracts such widespread sentiment? Surely millions of supporters of just about every other team cannot all be wrong can they?

Oooo err! I think thats one of Nostradamus' prophesies for Armaggedon! Fish will boil in the sea....... Children will betray their parents.........the poles will be reversed.......massive flame will cover the sun in the north .....the east will come to dominate the west........great floods............... and Jim will agree with drog and BluePhil. Not many to go now before Judgement Day!

Correct JBN. Despite having more than enough skill he is not physical enough or fast enough to play there. So he has to play deep midfield where his skill is often deemed as wasted. And that in a nutshell is why he plies his trade for Blackburn Rovers FC..... and indeed why we are having this debate.
-
Me too....... but conversely always the first to be subbed if the opposition have set themselves up to stop him playing. Tugay has superb and sublime abilities that make the admission money seem cheap sometimes. Abilities that we have not seen the likes of since Bryan Douglas graced the park. Duffer came close but not just close enough. Problem with Toogs that was not a problem with the other two is that his ability is wasted by being too far from the opponants goal. Also if the opposition set out to bully and man mark him and not allow him time on the ball he may as well come off after 15 minutes.

Now I know that we signed Nelson and Axe at the same time and that we have had the benefits of Bellamy on occasion as well as the more dubious skills of Kuqi and Bentley since summer but this is pretty impressive.......... Record in all comps since Savage signed.......W24 D12 L17. 7th in Prem Div and SF's of 2 major cups. (btw compare this with the performance of Brum in the same period waggy and give us all your thoughts on them). Sav's best quality is not his ability / vision on the ball (although he set Bentley up for a peach v MU) but is in reading the game and squeezing the pitch and giving the opposition so little time on the ball when they are in possession. Maybe not all that much to some people but it certainly seems a difficult quality to find in others and is a quality that the rest of his teammates will certainly applaud. Your 1 man campaign against one of our more influential players and one whom Hughes obviously rates very highly is in danger of becoming churlish. Sav is no Zidane thats for sure waggy but then again you are no Henry Winter are you?

Talking in the pub after the match and we all agreed how refreshing it was to watch a match without play acting cheats spoiling it. The general opinion was that it was linked linked to the preponderance of players from more northerly climes! btw I said after the MU trilogy that we would have won em all if we could have swapped strikers with them before the games...... well its a good job we didn't swap Bellamy with the the Black Cats before the game!

[Archived] 10 man Everton 1-0 Rovers
thenodrog replied to yawnsie's topic in Football Messageboard Archive
C'mon Den. Not for 80 mins! And not against 10 men who could easily have won 3 or 4 - nil! And not without having just one deflected shot and a weak header on target against a rookie keeper. Wiggy said to me after Turner was sent off on 9 minutes "I hate these situations the rookie always plays a blinder" Well with 2 weak late attempts on target he hardly had to pull out any stops had he? According to the press and media we are supposed to be the Dogs of War team but 10 men Everton brushed us aside like wet-nosed poodle pups. From what I have seen we have simply lost the plot since beating Man Utd. -

Only if he is NOT gay I assume. If he is def outed as gay then there is surely no prob? food for thought...........How long before somebody who is NOT gay sues a site for deformation of character / Libel or whatever...... ........... and then gets hit himself with a homophobia charge? -
In that case it must also be down in the records as the best ever reason for singing 'Can we play you every week'.

thenodrog replied to yawnsie's topic in Football Messageboard Archive
I've suggested that too for away games BUT yesterday when Everton went down to 10 men after 9 mins and sacrificed Macfadyen to go with a 4-4-1 formation every manager/coach/pundit etc would have immediately reverted to either a 4-4-2 or better still a 3-5-2. Could you imagine any team staying at 4-5-1 against 10? btw and not that it matters but it was a very harsh free kick for their goal!
