  1. No place for Gallagher and I think.that was a far worse signing than Brereton..
  2. I don't think people truly understand how small and how much poorer Blackburn is as a town economically compared with the home locations of most other Championship clubs. Rovers do really well even now in the ratio of crowds to population size but Rovers' crowds are not only smaller than the Championship average but prices paid are below average also. Where this gets really painful for Rovers is on the commercial side where lack of businesses able to put in the sort of money other clubs get is dramatic. FFP has not gone away despite covid. Cases brought against other clubs show the League are applying pre Covid rules still. Remember we were going to be breaking FFP when Dack was unable to be sold in January. Management and owners throughout the League simply don't know where they stand relative to FFP in the current circumstances. One morbid thought is that other clubs are therefore hit far harder proportionately by zero gate and match day commercial income than Rovers are. Paradoxically I therefore bet Waggott and Mowbray are in a better position in this transfer window than at least half the other Championship management teams.
  3. Given Bauer has got a mention, I always felt from what little I have seen, Saar is a better footballer than Bauer. Saar was a pain for our attack for 66 minutes when Charlton won at Ewood at the start of last season.
  4. I remember something similar to that in 2013 offering games across the English leagues. For some reason, National League South was especially dodgy in the UK. I would watch Leagues 1 and 2 next season following the introduction of the salary cap.
  5. I remember debates on here in 2011 when many were absolutely certain it was impossible to fix matches. For what it is worth, today and for many seasons now I think Rovers inconsistency and surprise results both good and bad are the product of ineptness combined with squads capable of more than they achieved come season's end and not the product of anything untoward. I have felt the total opposite in the past. I would add in defence of British journalists, the use of UK libel laws contributes enormously to their silence. I can think of six who probably have files at least as thick as Declan Hill. Declan has certain privileges as an academic which commercial journalists don't enjoy but he is also very smart in how and where he is specific. In that video, Hill talks about a pool of $1.6 trillion cash sloshing around. One year GDP of the entire UK economy? $2.8 trillion.
  6. Match fixing.
  7. Let's not forget we have lost all gate money when we are doing transfer budget calculations.
  8. Carter looks a very good prospect but he got skinned for pace at Luton
  9. Eastham Bennett Lenihan Williams Bell Evans Davenport Rothwell Dolan Brereton Buckley 2H LINE UP
  10. Arma not putting them away tonight
  11. Pretty normal August day in Blackpool. What's the problem?
  12. And if we have an ifollow subscription?
  13. Just thought I would contribute a post. We usually need to get to 300 pages before the first signing so I decided to jolly things along a little. Doing my bit for the cause and all that..
  14. Davenport's goal line clearance was brilliant by the way. My four who didn't enhance their chances yesterday: Fisher, Bell, Rothwell, Johnson (for being extra stodgy in an already stodgy middle)
  15. That was last year ;-)
  16. From what I could see, Fleetwood put out their play-off first team and subs for the whole game and were taking it very seriously. Add in the wind, particularly in the first half and that was a game strewn with banana skins especially as we fielded two totally different in the two halves. So a win, let alone a 4-1 romp is an achievement even with all the pre-season caveats. What is encouraging is that probably 19 of the 23 players seriously enhanced their case for inclusion in the first starting XI. What is discouraging is Mowbray will pick the wrong XI, the wrong tactics and the wrong subs...
  17. Any news about Vale and Butterworth?
  18. Did I mishear but I thought today's commentator said Portsmouth.
  19. Eastham and Dolan the pick of the youngsters. Rothwell worryingly poor.
  20. Let's see if our 2nd half line-up can improve on the first half lot. Are Vale and Butterworth both injured?
