  1. On Saturday Rovers will play Everton at Ewood in our 'marquee' friendly match. With so much going on in the background it will be interesting to see who plays. Will Brittain carry on his strike, will Travis and Tronstad start and what the centre half pairing will be. Will Pears or Toth be available? For anyone who is interested Everton TV are covering the game live. I haven't seen anywhere that Rovers are yet. https://www.evertonfc.com/live
  2. Thanks Carl. I thought it was odd that he didn't go on to treat Carter.
  3. But we signed 33 year old Adam Forshaw received who I don't think is as good as Luongo. I didn't mention him because of his recent success at Ipswich but because he is a steady Championship performer. Some of our best players recently have been McFadzean, Batth and Weimann.
  4. Massimo Luongo is training with Millwall. He is an experienced Championship central midfielder who won two promotions with Ipswich recently. He is 32 though and won't fit the latest 'project' we seem to have burdened ourselves with.
  5. I was on the other side and couldn't tell but there didn't seem any immediate concern from the doctor and physio who both ambled on to the pitch. I thought Ismael's description of cramp seemed misguided, I mean how many professional athletes get cramp after after half an hour. I like Carter but his injuries are a real source of frustration. Last season he had two lengthy spells out with knee and calf injuries and now a hamstring problem. On a separate note I noticed the regular physio, Andy Proctor wasn't there on Saturday.
  6. The priority position for new signings might just have changed. I have been told Hayden Carter is out for five weeks as a result of his 'cramp' at Accrington. That leaves Hyam and Wharton as our centre halves with any experience and Wharton is having his game time carefully managed. How we could do with a player like Danny Batth right now...........oh wait a minute.
  7. After the pre match shenanigans I was looking for a reason to turn it off. 'Double pivot' and a chant of 'let's go Chelsea, let's go' was enough of a reason to do just that.
  8. That's an easy one to answer Tyrone. It was brought in so broadcasters could have extra time for advertising and cascaded down so it has now become the norm.
  9. Your use of the word 'assets' is in the right context for the supporters and I suspect Ismael too. But to the Punekars and Dumb and Dumber it means something completely different - something to sell and help to allow the owners to keep more of their money in India. To them a right back is a right back irrespective of how it weakens the team and affects morale.
  10. I managed to see the start when some boxing announcer was giving it the 'let's get ready to rumble' nonsense and then counted down from the sideline the for the kick off. This was after all the players had been introduced with a fanfare as they came out individually onto the pitch. The co-commentator then said 'double pivot' when referring to something Chelsea did. At that point I switched over. If our football ever got to the glitzy, razzamatazz nonsense that FIFA/America want then I would be gone like a shot.
  11. I was told yesterday that the reason he failed his medical is due to a stress fracture in his foot which showed up on the scan.
  12. Your first two sentences could be correct but why you have to have a veiled dig about people buying season tickets is a low blow.
  13. A good, honest interview from Ismael. It sounds like he has resigned himself to Brittain going and goes in quite hard about the Travis and Tronstad situation. It's really frustrating that history just keeps repeating itself with these morons running our club.
  14. He did alright. Judging players from performances in friendlies is really difficult so I'll reserve judgement until I've seen him in a competitive match.
  15. Because it's City and they are backed by a wealthy state who are becoming more and more influential in world football..........probably.
  16. The intention of today's game today was achieved in that the players got some competitive game time. Until the changes we played at a decent tempo and pretty much dominated deservedly taking the lead through Ohashi. For the start of second half we switched to a back three and left big gaps which Accrington exploited. We then reverted back to a conventional back four and were the better team again. Gueye scored a smart goal which turned out to be the winner. I was sat close to the technical areas and heard Ismael on several occasions demanding more work from his players particularly when pressing. Another week of training and a game against Everton on Saturday gives more opportunity to build up the fitness levels.
  17. The under 21's had a game at Celtic today so maybe they were there. I haven't been able to find what the team was.
  18. I think you see a camera pointing in your direction and you push the people around you out of the way. Either that or you have just guffed. 😂😂
  19. If he sounds like an ITK, writes with the authority of an ITK he is usually a bullshitter. This window has seen them grow exponentially. One even mocks up any linked player up in a Rovers shirt to try and make his nonsense more convincing. For many reasons I'll be glad when August is done and these people hibernate until January.
  20. The real worry for me is that in the corridors of power at Rovers they don't seem to be learning from previous errors a recurring theme from the last decade and a half. We lost Lenihan, Rothwell and Nyambe because of the way they stalled on contract negotiations which in the instance of those three Covid was blamed. They might have wanted to go anyway but I think the delays in negotiations helped them feel unwanted and strengthened their resolve to leave. Similarly now we have several key players out of contract at the end of the season and the longer it drags on I really think the chances of them staying diminishes. And no agreement by January will be critical as they could start to coast or be sold for a minimal fee. It really is a mess of Rovers own doing.
  21. I thought Szmodics asked not to play in friendlies rather than refused and Eustace complied. Personally I don't believe the 'refuse to play' part alleged by the author of this. If Rovers have accepted his leaving as a fait accompli then it would be silly to play him.
  22. In some ways I'm sorry to see Joe leave but it's absolutely the right move for his career. He is 26 now and needs to be playing and keeping fit although the latter was, I believe one of his downfalls at Rovers. Tomasson got the best out of him and his performance at Huddersfield a few seasons ago was outstanding (although we only drew the game) but one of my best memories was against Bradford in the League Cup. We had Phillips and Morton as centre halves and they had a grizzly old centre forward called Andy Cooke who was bullying them physically and verbally. Joe smashed him with a couple of tackles and got in his face when we equalised. Job done. He also got stuck into Cork after the final whistle when that lot beat us at Ewood. Cork had gone over the top on Dolan and should have been sent off. Good luck to Joe.
  23. And yet Girona and Man City were allowed to both play in last seasons Champions League. The City Football Group are the majority shareholders of Premier League champions City, while they also own 44.3 per cent of LaLiga club Girona. Another 16 per cent of the Spanish club is owned by Pere Guardiola, the brother of City manager Pep.
  24. I think it's fair to say that Herbie6590 stands out in a crowd 😂.
