https://www.ccfc.co.uk/news/2022/october/news-coventry-city-make-time-to-pay-agreement-with-hmrc/ Coventry are really in trouble and have agreed with HMRC to defer payments until December primarily because of the five home postponements this season. This further issue with the CBS Arena will only add to these problems.

This situation once again brings the governance of the EFL into question. In the recent past they have awarded a victory to Ipswich when, for reasons I can't remember Bolton couldn't fulfil a fixture. Great we thought, at last the EFL baring their teeth and punishing clubs proportionate to the offence. But the allowing of Coventry to call off three games this season and potentially our game on Tuesday has shown them in their true light.

I have just had an update on this farce and it will be the police who make the final decision around lunchtime tomorrow. Walsall, Coventry and Rovers have agreed to the venue change but the real sticking point for the police is the uncertainty of how many will turn up and in truth I'm not sure how they will know this to justify giving the game the go ahead in a safe environment. After learning this my gut feeling now is that the game will be off. It's farcical to think that just over 24 hours before many Rovers fans will be leaving we won't know if the game will be played.

I just had a quick peek on one of their fans message boards and a few are saying they won't travel to any other ground. I don't know how they would do it but if they assume that all 13000 to plus 2000 Rovers fans it really narrows it down to Villa, Wolves, Leicester or Forest but I saw that Premier League clubs are loathe to help. They really are in a pickle and Swag reckons it will be tomorrow lunchtime before it's announced. I was told last night though that it is Walsall and my contact was adamant about it.

Dack was playing a completely different role when he came on to what we have seen in the last few years. He spent most of his time yesterday working in our half closing them down and getting challenges in. In all honesty I was surprised when he came on as Garrett would have been more suitable for what Dack was doing. If he did start I don't think he would be asked to play so deep so judging him on yesterday isn't fair in my opinion.

If it is Walsall then Tomasson should be made aware that the pitch there is considerably smaller than Coventry (Walsall is 100 x 66, Coventry is 105 x 68) in case it might influence team selection or tactics. Yesterday we got in behind Hull several times but on a pitch which is 5 metres shorter the opportunities to do that might dwindle.

Although the scoreline doesn't really reflect it I was never unduly worried (unlike previous matches when we are defending deep) and today was as comfortable a 1-0 win as you can get. Another very good team effort with lots of 7's but not many 8's of 9's. Since day one Tomasson has referenced the team and the importance of it as opposed to individuals. We are seeing a lot of evidence now of how his ethos is being integrated into the players and club and whilst performances aren't great the work ethic and togetherness are and in this league these traits can take you a long way. -

The sending off would have been a consequence of giving the penalty. -

It doesn't matter whether we were good enough or not. We were done by three big decisions when we should have had a penalty, they go down to ten and the clearest foul on Kaminski which resulted in a goal. If they are given correctly then the game takes on a different complexion. -

We owe this lot big time. After the Boxing Day farce (engineered by them in my view) when thousands of us were hugely inconvenienced and the subsequent rearranged match I really want to put one over on them by hammering them. On the night of the rearranged game they had a new owner parading around the pitch which undoubtedly gave them a huge boost and a referee who got three key, match changing decisions wrong. -
It's incredible really that four days before a scheduled match in one of the biggest leagues in Europe there is uncertainty as to where it will be played. In the recent past Coventry have played home games at Northampton, Birmingham and Burton so who knows where this match might end up if the Coventry Arena isn't available. If the game is to be played elsewhere what about fans who have booked transport, arranged time off work etc. It really is our and frankly unacceptable.

The bit in bold goes a long way in the Championship.

On the back of last Saturday in what thought was an impressive performance at Ewood last week Birmingham are currently beating QPR 2-0. Their high press and intensity is working really well and suited to play against these teams who like to play out from the back.

Is that Move On Up from Curtis Mayfield or Moving On Up by M People? 😁😁

And yet he was pilloried by some for walking away. The errant ones reneged on a promise and a principled manager knew he couldn't work for them as he pretty much couldn't trust them. -
It looks like Coventry could be in turmoil again and there is a suggestion our game there on Tuesday next week might be moved. https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/63427703

A really good interview from Howard who has lots of praise for Rovers and especially the fans.

I couldn't find an appropriate thread for this article so I put it on here and hopy Rovers fans can read what I think is a feel good story. https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-lancashire-63401327 -
One thing Hanley can always be relied upon for is recklessness. Burnley undoubtedly have some skilful, tricky players particularly out wide but in truth how many good chances did they create? At one point they'd had nine shots and only one of them on target. I honestly can't recall any real opportunities in the penalty area. In fact you could argue that Norwich had the better of clear chances.

He was but I thought he was a touch naive and hopefully he will learn from situations like this. Jutkiewicz got up slightly before Phillips and pinned him down. Hopefully this has been picked up by the coaching team and being worked on.
