  1. The Co-op was demolished many years ago Tyrone but when I was growing up there was a nightclub above it which had a few different names. I first remember it as Uncle Toms Cabin, then Tiffany's with an adjoining club called Nocturne. On the site of the old Co-op now stands a couple of charity shops, Savers, Iceland and Asda.
  2. Mowbray is praising the owners (again - yawn) for allowing him to bring in Branthwaite. Nov I don't know for sure but I'd imagine we are picking up a percentage of the 18 year olds wages which in reality shouldn't be a fortune. And to mitigate some of that Carter has gone out on loan. For me it's all part of Mowbray's continuing ingratiation with the owners.
  3. I suspect strongly he is retiring as the rumour has been rife for some time now. If there is pressure on Mowbray it has to be coming from within but I honestly think he still holds all the cards in respect of his future.
  4. Do you think he'll walk or are you saying you think he'll be sacked? I have heard from two different people who work at Ewood that the word is Swag is retiring. His absence from Ewood and pretty much non attendance at games indicates to me that he has lost interest. Maybe Mowbray realises this and is getting his ducks in a row to help him keep his job.
  5. I haven't listened to this because, quite simply he bores me with his twaddle. Mowbray has well and truly ingratiated himself on the owners who, like some Rovers fans buy his bluster and bull. If the rumour of Waggott retiring at the end of the season is true I think our only hope of Mowbray going is a new CEO who can see through the self preservation nonsense he comes out with. However I don't hold out too much hope and have resigned myself to the mediocrity Mowbray brings for as long as he wants to be here.
  6. Mowbray will be like a dog with two dicks for this game. Live on Sky, one of Boro's favourite sons returning and he will regale bore anybody who can be bothered listening about how he used to sit on his dads shoulders to go to the game, John Hickton and the Holgate End sucking the ball into the goal yadda, yadda. I really don't think we will get anything here despite The Riverside being a good ground for using recent years. Warnock will have Mowbray on toast.
  7. I see lots of potential in Buckley and I think he could be a top player. Unfortunately I don't think the coaching currently at Rovers will bring that out of him. A new manager and coach could make a huge difference to him and others.
  8. https://www.skysports.com/football/news/11731/12192407/transfer-news-conor-hourihane-joins-swansea-on-loan-from-aston-villa-for-rest-of-the-season A really good signing for Swansea.
  9. A local referee was called in so primarily it's his call. I always used to insist on the managers (if possible) being there so they could have a view and input but I don't think either manager was there this morning.
  10. I really think they have jumped the gun here. Why there was a mid morning inspection doesn't make sense as Swansea are already here having travelled yesterday, no visiting fans to consider, no police charges and no food waste. Surely a decision could have been delayed until mid/late afternoon to give it a chance. Although the forecast is for heavy rain it's been dry in Darwen for the last hour and the clouds look like they are shifting. The amateurish way this has been handled sums up Rovers to me.
  11. I think this is right. Springfield Park is pretty much confirmed by one of the advertisements for an Orrell company. I reckon it's the Northern Premier League.
  12. I think our pitch will really hinder you tomorrow as it's in such poor condition, a lot worse than yours was before you replaced it. On this occasion it might help us as I can't see you playing your slick passing game on such a poor surface so it could really come down to who copes best with it. Personally I can't see anything but a win for you as our confused, befuddled manager will be in a real quandary over tactics and selection but we are used to that now.
  13. Thanks. On closer inspection there is a kid who has a similar geeky hairstyle to mine at the time. Could be coincidence though.
  14. Is it definitely 1973? I remember going down to Ewood to help clear the pitch before the Man City cup game in 1969 with lots of others.
  15. https://www.walesonline.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/first-images-swansea-citys-brand-19527856 Swansea laid a brand new pitch in a really short space of time at the end of last year. And I know for certain that Steve rang their American owners direct and explained the situation and the benefits which could potentially be promotion. They coughed up the money immediately. Our pound shop management just whine in the local press.
  16. I don't agree he is thinking long term with the number of loans and out of contract players we will have come the seasons end. Once again we could be looking for around ten players to make up the squad which will include the likes of Ayala and Pears who will contribute little but have long deals. I think this season if everyone is fit we have top six potential but in my view we have a mid table manager who is holding us back. Next month he will have been here for four years and the defence is no better than his first game at Burton. That's not progression.
  17. I don't disagree Gav as I have always found that Gallagher is a poor pundit and a bit of a hanger-on. On this occasion though I think he is right.
  18. Andy Bayes said in his preview yesterday that he felt Mowbray was one result away from the majority of fans turning on him. In his view one of the factors helping Mowbray is that there are no fans to turn up the heat on him. He mentioned that his opinion is based on social media comments. Kevin Gallagher was more forthright and openly criticised the tactics, team selection and in match decision making. Reading some of the written press it certainly feels that the wealth of opinion in local media is that his race is run.
  19. You must be posh Nick and referring to th'express 😁😁😁. The regular buses rarely got over 15 mph due to lots of stops.
  20. When a club pays its absent Chief Executive twelve times more than it spends on the playing surface you know something is seriously amiss.
  21. This is an excellent post and I believe sums up the feelings of many hard core supporters. Personally I would have added that I feel disengaged by the club particularly after the scandalous price increase they announced for season tickets. I am also unhappy with the whole Waggott role. I have been told that he has only been seen at Ewood a handful of times since March although that's more than the other bloke who still hasn't returned from India. The word is Waggott is retiring in the summer and the apparent lack of interest bears that out as he seems to be winding down. There is no leadership, no plan to engage supporters many of whom will not set foot in Ewood again. I firmly believe we are on the precipice whilst the powers that be seemingly don't care.
  22. He conveniently forgets the scabby wins against Barnsley, Millwall and Rotherham. However some of the gullables who hang on his every word will buy that guff.
  23. https://www.lancashiretelegraph.co.uk/sport/19010601.rovers-youngster-not-answer-yet-insists-mowbray/ Another whopper from Mowbray in the article where he says centre half is a mans job. So he is bringing an 18 year old and has let a 21 year old go out on loan. I should have known better than to realise twaddle.
  24. We will be lucky to see Scott Wharton before Christmas given the severity of his injury. Williams will be gone as will the loan signing (if it happens). The slow build that Mowbray hangs his hat on just doesn't work with loans and injury prone players over 30. It really is Groundhog Day under this bloke.
