  1. Eleven games in and I think it's time to evaluate where we are with Mowbrays proposed change in the style of play. Having seen every game I see players who appear confused by how they should be playing. We started the season by trying to play out from the back but that seems to have been dispensed with as we looked to go longer to Gallagher out on the right touchline. The majority of passes we do play are safe, short and invariably sideways or backwards. We are so easy to play against with our slow, sedate and safe football. For me we have gone backwards with Mowbray confusing fans and players alike with strange tactics and players being out of position.
  2. I have just seen the goals in SSN and they frankly are all embarrassingly poor, much worse than I saw live at the ground. There wasn't one player to come out yesterday with any credit. I noticed yesterday that Mowbray adopted his all too familiar head in hands pose several times as he became frustrated by elementary errors. In the second half he sat down for long periods and Venus seemed to take over the head coach duties.
  3. I honestly can't see Mowbray leaving either of his own volition or being sacked. Who is going to sack him? The guy that Mowbray vouched for? The lunatics on another continent? What about the invisible man Pasha? I think he is as safe as Kean was when he was effectively writing his own contracts. It's been well known that Mowbray likes to pick the low hanging fruit. He likes to bring players in who he knows and also coaches he knows too. His safe football is based around not losing or narrow wins. The post about us only coming from behind once to win a Championship game under him is damning and should be enough for him to tender his resignation. To reiterate what many have said he has taken us as far as he can and soon as will begin to regress.
  4. Just on the train back. Disappointed doesn't do it justice. Mowbray is all over the place now. It was summed up when I saw Bennett given a note by somebody on the bench. He passed it to Evans and he gave it to Lenihan. It was actually Evan's best pass of the game. It was like nobody on the bench wanted to speak to the players.
  5. I agree with you. At Reading I thought he had arguably his best game for us get on Tuesday he was anonymous and was rightly taken off. This inconsistency could well hold him back. That said his ability is beyond question and his record of 40 goals in 100 games is excellent. Off the top of my head I can't recall many chances he has missed in his time here.
  6. I'm not sure of your definition of being screwed over applies here. If that was the case then you could argue Venkys screwed Bowyer over because they have given Mowbray a lot more to spend.
  7. How did Gibson screw him over? I'm intrigued because he has a reputation as being one of the most supportive owners in football.
  8. I actually think it's a proper atmospheric ground surrounded by houses on three sides with an almost retro feel to it. The view from the away upper tier is on of the best in the league. When I compare it to some of these soulless edifices it is one of the most enjoyable grounds to visit.
  9. Football is about results at any time of the season. Winning breeds confidence.
  10. These stats are misleading in my view. How many of these accurate passes were behind or ahead of players or just not the right weight? I remember one pass from Bennett to Armstrong in the first half when he drilled it at him about chest high. It bounced off Armstrong's chest and an opportunity to spring forward was lost. It would be considered accurate because it got to its target but it lost us any chance of an initiative. I think managers hide behind stats and use them as excuses to mask inadequacies.
  11. I thought Travis made his mind up for him by standing off.
  12. I'd love to see a stat about how many times we gave the ball away last night. I kept thinking about the intense passing game that Mowbray spoke about in the summer. Everyone is entitled to their opinion but I thought we were poor last night. The only glimmer of hope was when we played with a bit of pace primarily from Holtby, Rothwell and Samuel. The three players they replaced were by far our worst on the night. Hopefully Mowbray will have taken note of this and it influences his selection on Saturday.
  13. I felt that our passing tonight was as poor as it's been for a long time. We constantly under hit or misplaced passes which was infuriating. The tempo was ridiculously slow until Holtby and Rothwell came on and in that period we could have scored a couple. For all his effort I thought Travis was poor in possession overall and seemed to want an eternity. He gave far too much room to the Forest player who equalised. I'd like to see Dacks stats for tonight. Most of the time I looked for him he was static. Gallagher was really poor and looks anything but a big money player. I don't understand why Mowbray left it so late to make the changes. It was crying out for something different but in his cautious manner seemed reluctant to try something different. It's been a hugely disappointing few days with one point from two home games where the performances were generally mediocre.
  14. I'll vouch for that Andy. He was anything but quiet and could tear a strip of his teammates or the match officials.
  15. My real fear going into this game is how we will react to the result from Saturday. If the players are feeling sorry for themselves then it could be a long night. It's games like this when a good manager shows his real value.
  16. I am as sure as I can be that it was done as per the procedure. Clearly I'm not privy to the dialogue but from what I saw everything was above board and more importantly the correct decision was reached.
  17. I'm certain the conversation between the two was about whether Dack actually touched the ball. From the AR's position he couldn't tell and put the onus back to the referee. Again I'm certain there was no other dialogue between the other officials. Again I making an assumption but I wasn't convinced if the referee knew if Dack had actually touched it given the length of the conversation. The AR followed the prescribed process by standing his ground and not flagging. The correct decision was reached and by and large it was done by the book. In fact that incident aS better teamwork than anthem saw from Rovers.
  18. There are some damming numbers in this well researched post and gives a strong indication that we haven't had enough leaders during Mowbrays tenure. And probably as alarming is the fact that he hasn't really done anything about it. Hopefully the LT reporter (who allegedly reads this site) can ask Mowbray for his views on what is a big weakness.
  19. It was textbook officiating Tom. Had it been the other way round I think there may have been some different views. Significantly there hasn't been any complaint from Mowbray.
  20. I haven't seen anything official about penalty rebounds. I think there was some fake news put out during the summer.
  21. That was one decision they got right and the AR followed the correct process. I sit in the JW Upper and I saw a Rovers player in an offside position but I didn't know which of the two it was. The AR saw it exactly the same and sought clarification from the referee as to exactly who put the ball in the net. Once they established it was Williams they had to give offside. Although frustrating it was the right decision. Overall I thought the referee was weak and it was apparent after five minutes what Luton were up to. His flimsy waving of an arm of blowing of his whistle was futile as Luton players took excessive time at nearly every restart. I was embarrassed for him when he saw fit to caution in the fourth minute of stoppage time. Absolutely pointless and ineffective. Over the last few years I've noticed far too many teams getting away with killing the game and referees seem oblivious to it. They have a responsibility to the game to ensure fair play and they are failing in this most basic of duties. I have spoken to a couple of friends who are senior within the PGMO but they don't seem to concerned by it. I tell them that they don't pay hard earned money to watch football and don't have the feeling of being short changed.
  22. Matt got a great reception at half time and he seemed to really appreciate it. He got an extra cheer when he mentioned the 5-0 Easter Sunday battering of that lot.
  23. Looking at the Championship table kind of sums up to me where we are as a football club. Four wins, four defeat and a draw with a goal difference of zero. And the epitome of average (in football management terms) is Mowbray. I honestly can't see us getting anywhere near the top six let alone getting promoted as we just can't get any consistency into our results. We are/will be a mid table team under Mowbray as I don't believe he has what it takes to take us any further. I've seen a few posts comparing Mowbray and Bowyer and the more I think about it the more valid it becomes. I'm not advocating his sacking yet but merely stating what I see every week and his record as a Championship manager.
  24. This sort of result was predicted by a few of the older sages who have seen this type of thing happen many many times. It almost mirrored the Charlton game for me when our play was slow and predictable with very little intensify. I honestly point the finger at the players for this. I really believe that the attitude, on the back of two decent results and a game against a poor team, was questionable from the majority of players. Our decision making was poor with far too many wrong choices by many. I was massively disappointed by our passing today with far too many of the wrong weight, balls passed behind players or just giving it away. Armstrong was poor today and I was amazed he didn't get the hook. Gallagher and Lenihan weren't far behind with Walton making the simple things difficult. I hadn't a clue what our shape was in the last fifteen minutes. Mowbray just seemed to throw players on within a plan or too much thought. It's back to basics for me on Tuesday with Graham up top and Dack in and around him. Holtby has to start and if he plays Downing and Armstrong at least have them on their correct wings.
  25. Despicable, horrible man. He should never have been anywhere near our great club but the idiots gave him the keys to the castle and he revelled in the justified hatred towards him. Hopefully in the future we could celebrate a Venky's Out day too.
