  1. That would need 30 extra people back weekend to cover this and don't forget there is also a specialist VAR appointed to cover incidents involving the assistant referee. In the recent league match between Liverpool and Everton a really soft penalty was awarded to Everton which Allardyce supported. In last weeks FA Cup match another soft penalty was given to Liverpool and Allardyce disputed it. My point is that most managers will be critical of game changing decisions which go against them so in that respect nothing will change. For me it's going to be an expensive folly which will be intrusive in what should be a game played with as few stoppages as possible. The majority of fans will debate referees decisions as they have done for time immemorial. It's all part of the game.
  2. Goal line technology is based on fact, VAR is based on opinion and therefore not an exact science. Mistakes will still be made even though there is a chance to re referee incidents. Personally I don't want it as I can accept mistakes (however infuriating) from players, managers and officials.
  3. Well RV started so he'll finish. Personally I would have passed.
  4. Well done to the football fixture planners again. Torquay v Gateshead tonight. They really have excelled themselves with this one.
  5. You have highlighted one area where we have improved but the main area to me is that Mowbray has us pretty much playing counter attacking football which seems to suit us but that is only in away games. He (by his own admission) needs to devise a plan to beat teams more comfortably at home. The laborious, easy to defend against passing game at home could be our Achilles Heel with most of the top teams still to come to Ewood. I don't want to sound like a party pooper but in my opinion we are still quite a bit away from where many believe we should be in terms of the consistency in our play.
  6. I do remember Marsh as an entertainer who excited fans with his craft and ability. Dack is probably a lower league version who can win games with flashes of brilliance. Interesting that you bring his fitness up as we spoke about the same thing during the game. He injured a hamstring on day one at Southend and didn't really do much for some time but his confidence (and fitness) are certainly evident.
  7. Yes it was Tyrone. He was really good today with skill, cleverness and movement. And probably more important he looked like he was enjoying himself. He was head and shoulders above anybody else on the pitch.
  8. That must have been some halftime team talk! We started each half really well and ended them not too good. Once again we have conceded two sloppy goals and this gives Mowbray something to think about. Overriding this though was the result and if any Premier League team have scored a goal as good as our third the pundits will be orgasmic. The performance of Dack was enlightening and for the first time in years I can get genuinely excited when a Rovers player is in possession. Mulgrew was Mulgrew and Downing does the basics well. They have forged a decent partnership which will stand us in good stead for the rest of the season. There are still plenty of areas to improve on but winning is the most important thing and we are doing. Long may it continue.
  9. We have, on paper the most difficult fixture of all the teams in and around the promotion and play off positions I believe. Peterborough can score goals as their 31 for and 29 against suggests. In that respect they are similar to us so it might be a case of us having to score two or three to win. I think it's important to keep this winning run going and in fairness Mowbray seems to have found a system in away games whereby we counter attack and score a high percentage of our chances. Hopefully for the 1000+ fans it will be a happy journey home.
  10. Given their spiteful behaviour so far I would imagine they will try and inflict as much damage as possible. If they are propping the club up financially could they stop and force the club into administration? If they can that would potentially bring about a 12 point deduction and a certain relegation scrap. The joy of the Blackpool fans have to be tempered by the fact that as long as they hold the keys to the castle they can do damage.
  11. Huge congratulations to all Blackpool fans whether they protested or not. Hopefully they are bought by somebody who actually cares.
  12. Stupid WAG. http://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/news/romanian-gypsy-c-northern-ireland-11499064
  13. An absolutely scandalous handball decision given against Corry Evans gives Switzerland the lead from the penalty spot in their play off match against Northern Ireland.
  14. You may well be right in the long run but seeing the Oystons publicly vilified with no right of appeal would certainly please me if I was a fan.
  15. Barton wants his money back too. http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/41897782
  16. Horrible people who have got their comeuppance. The feeling of Blackpool fans this morning will be one of euphoria and give them a boost. I'm feeling envious.
  17. In all honesty at that time nobody really knew what or where a hamstring was. It's another modern football phenomenon. I recall Francis having a career threatening ruptured Achilles. I saw a picture of the scars during his rehabilitation. Nowadays it would probably be done by laser.
  18. He was clearly struggling on Saturday but went back on after receiving treatment. I said to my brother that it was stupid to send him back on as it could make the injury worse. I don't know if it did but there were shades of Lenihan at Southend when he played on with a foot injury whilst pretty much hobbling. Unprofessional.
  19. I have supported Mowbray in the past but my patience is fast running out as we just cannot put together a consistent 70 or 80 minute spell in any one game. Even before the season started the more knowledgeable Rovers fans saw the need for an ugly, raw boned centre half who would kick and head anything. Similarly we could have done with a big striker with the same virtues. We got neither. Instead we have too many fancy Dan players who want time on the ball and far too many touches. On the whole Mowbrays signings simply haven't been good enough. I didn't like his interview when he pretty much said he is reluctant to put youngsters in but in all honesty can they be as bad as some of the current incumbents. He is playing catch up for me now and I now have doubts whether he is up to it. That said he can't be blamed for poor set plays and awful decision making by players on far too many occasions this season. I have questioned the players attitude on several occasions this season when far too many of them don't seem to want to do the hard yards and ugly side of the game. At this level it's a prerequisite and if you don't, well we've seen the evidence for ourselves.
  20. He did but I don't think his inexperience was the issue. This season I have seen several experienced players going for goal when team mates were better placed to score.
  21. Them answers could have been from Kean or Coyle. To be honest I find it insulting after playing, refereeing and watching football for over 50 years that our manager comes out with banile drivel like that. He admits that the defence is not the most mobile in the world and still picks the same players and played Dack out wide on Saturday who couldn't defend to save his life. I'm rapidly running out of patience with the nonsense he is spouting.
  22. Who could have predicted that King would have made it in the PL? Based on what he did for us nobody and I really don't recall too many tears when he left. Anybody can use the perfect science of hindsight to justify their argument. For us he just didn't do it.
  23. I watched an excellent Sheffield derby today and was really impressed by United and the job Chris Wilder has done. A 17 year old kid called Brooks for United was truly outstanding and really puts the 'too young' myth to bed. Wednesday just couldn't handle him.
  24. When I was working I dealt with a few different printers for labels and forms and the biggest cost was in setting the printing presses up. I always got a better price for buying larger quantities i.e. £100 for 1000 and £50 for every 1000 after that. I would expect the Rovers programmes to be the same otherwise somebody isn't doing their job properly.
