  1. A really enjoyable match at Kenilworth Road with both teams looking dodgy defensively but decent up front.
  2. The law change about the ball not having to leave the penalty area on goal kicks will encourage teams to over play from the back and give away cheap possession. I hope Mowbray has worked on this at both ends of the pitch.
  3. You couldn't be more wrong my friend.
  4. Sad news to me K-Hod. Take a break and (hopefully) enjoy the football. It's ridiculous that some posters have a go at you because of your opinion and can't respect that without some childish, infantile comment. When we run out of moderators I sincerely hope that some of the critics take the role on and see what it entails. Do I think that will happen - not a chance.
  5. Kindon departed on a stretcher looking like he would never play again but I remember him coming back on later to complete the match. You could be right that he missed a dolly late on. We were on the Bee Hole End so a distance away.
  6. And Killer smashing Kindon who was carried off on a stretcher. And then the song 'Stevie Kindon walks on crutches' was born. You are spot on Leonard - they will never erase our memories.
  7. To improve we have to buy better than what we already have. Hopefully he will get his chance to prove he is and then we can make a judgment. His signing probably means either Magliore and Grayson (or both) will go out on loan.
  8. There is some street parking in Lower Darwen which is far easier if you are coming on the M65. It's around 15 minutes walk to the ground. Don't go too far along Branch Road though as it has restrictions.
  9. Then why did Mowbray give him a new three and a half year deal in January 18?
  10. If that is the case why hasn't he been on a core strengthening programme on Mowbrays watch. He had over two years to recognise and correct this perceived weakness.
  11. The problem is compounded by PL wages being so high and proportionally the other leagues wages have risen too but their income hasn't. This Man City kid we are linked with is on £25k a week and has a handful of first team appearances on his CV. When the time comes to get shut of him he will want a similar amount and there will be some clubs prepared to pay it. And there are lots like him. I know of a Championship third choice keeper on £6k a week with his parent club. He went out on loan and is now signed as second choice at another Championship club. It almost feels now that the Bury situation will start the implosion many have been predicting.
  12. Football has attracted crooks and Walter Mitty types for some time now and as you rightly say it's the supporters who suffer in the long term when these shysters disappear. I always chuckle when I see the word investors in any prospective takeover. I can't think of anybody who has legally had some return on any 'investment' in a football club. I was talking to a senior executive at a Championship club last week and he predicted that Bolton and Bury will be the first of many to go under. It's incredible to think that cornerstones of local communities can disappear and the likes of Pogba can earn £500k each week. Something is wildly amiss.
  13. According to this article the EFL didn't sanction Dale as the new Bury owner. The EFL (and most leagues) are part of the problem with their flimsy rules and regulations. https://www.theguardian.com/football/2019/jul/11/bury-takeover-without-full-football-league-approval-transfer-embargo-efl
  14. Very sad news. Kevin was always a committed and honest player. I didn't realise his goalscoring record was one in three which is decent by anybody's standards. Condolences to his family and friends. RIP.
  15. Bloody hell Philip. One day you are having a pop at fans who bemoan the lack of activity (particularly defensively) and now you are insinuating that our two stars could be sold.
  16. On Evans in particular I don't think he is good enough to play the quick passing game that Mowbray is promising. I have seen him and Smallwood dither in possession far too often to believe they can play quickly. Of course that's if Mowbray hasn't changed his mind.
  17. That's reported interest in seven centre halves and not one signed. I know it's all conjecture either way but there is cause to worry for me. Ideally I wanted new defenders in for August 3rd but that hope is diminishing daily.
  18. Swansea have signed two players (Bidwell and Wilmott) and so have Wigan. Reading have signed four.
  19. It's no wonder Bill Shakes. I spotted a close friend of mine in the clip. I'll let him know that he appears in a (c)rap video about thieving.
  20. Platt got another year too and hasn't got a hope of getting near the first team. With him, Wharton and Gladwin I don't think there would be too much change out of £400k wasted on players who were never good enough.
  21. The starting team and formation will be interesting as Mowbray himself said as we get towards the end of the pre season programme he will play what (injuries permitted) essentially will be his starting team for the league campaign. Personally I still don't think he knows what his best team, formation and tactics are.
  22. It's all falling into place now in my view. I too watched Nyambe in the ACN and he played really well in the middle of a three (as he did in the second half at Bury). That must have got Mowbray thinking and is behind his u-turn on centre halves in my opinion (an opinion reinforced by the interview you linked). I'm with the majority and still think we need an old school centre half. It's been apparent throughout Mowbrays tenure and it appeared the penny had dropped in March when he went public.
  23. In truth though I was more making the point about Mowbray saying one thing and then flipping it some time later. It's academic now though with him being injured.
  24. He didn't imply that in this article six days ago. He says he could go out on loan. https://www.lancashiretelegraph.co.uk/sport/football/rovers/news/17781658.rovers-boss-tony-mowbray-plans-left-back-sam-hart/
  25. I'll indulge you in your game of semantics then. They know we have at least £10m.
