I thought the idea of England friendlies was to try some of the promising youngsters. Mason Mount will probably miss out on winning a cap through this idiocy. It devalues the prestige and honour of playing for England. Once again the FA show how they have little or no understanding of how the majority of football fans in this country think. This is a man who has been sent off twice whilst playing for England and publicly criticised the England fans who were in South Africa who had the temerity to boo the team after a dreadful performance. His rap sheet off the field makes interesting reading too. Shame on them.

Over the last two games Williams has probably been our best player and these were two extremely tough games from a defensive point of view. He does seem better suited to central defence where he isn't expected to bomb forward in open play like he is at left back.

Although Dack probably should have been cautioned by the inept referee when he threw the ball at Lynch (I think it was) I was quite pleased he did. His frustration and anger showed he cares and really fired him up. The win was satisfying from many perspectives but one that pleased me was that QPR's clear spoiling tactics ultimately didn't work. The delaying of nearly every restart was a deliberate ploy typified by the Dingle Wells who stood over the ball several times to prevent us taking quick free kicks. That said it probably worked for us in a perverse way as the referee couldn't take any action against us when the boot was on the other foot after the goal.

I was too but he kept calm and got the next best thing, a corner. That gave us the opportunity to run the clock and keeping the ball in that corner for nigh on two minutes was a sight to behold.

Probably our worst performance of the season yet one of the best results. QPR were really difficult opponents with two solid banks of four/five and spoiling tactics. We had several players off the pace but showed resilience and attitude once again. I like games like this when we win because that's the name of the game. I thought Lenihan and Williams were outstanding today.

That could be the case regarding the fee but lots of fees are paid that way and have been for years. Jack Walker actually charged Newcastle interest as they paid in instalments. I'd be surprised if Bradenton wasn't in the middle bracket earners on £10 - £15k per week. He will also have had a significant signing on free paid in instalments. As the players you mentioned are all contracted it is unlikely they would be given a rise if we brought somebody in on more money (unless a clause affords them parity with a higher earner). If anybody at the club agreed to such a clause they should be sacked.

You are correct that every signing is a risk. That is what many are saying about Brereton aligned to the fact that £7m is a hell of a lot of money for us to risk.

You missed my point. The debt has (or will) increase by up to £7m if he were to regress. I'm not blaming him, far from it. The blame will lie with whoever agreed it. Of course his value could increase but both scenarios have to be looked at. My other point is that for £7m a club in our position should have bought the finished article, not waiting for somebody to develop and playing a bit part every now and then.

I remember that quote from the statement when they bought us (along with the one were they would ABSOLUTELY respect the legacy of Jack Walker). Since then we/they have spunked millions on has beens and dross, many of them definitely not young. If you are trying to second guess their motives then good luck but for me that ship sailed many years ago.

I hope it happens and eventually implodes. The arrogance and greed of these clubs is staggering and Chief Executives are more interested in share prices. A new league would be an absolute bore fest if the Champions League is anything to go by. And the Premier League is going the same way. There would be a rebalancing of football which I believe would be good for clubs like ours.

I really don't get the describing of Brereton as a long term project. Long term projects are kids we sign on scholarships at sixteen and invest lots of time in them. For a Championship club with massive debts like ours paying a reported £7m should have bought us a player who can fit straight into the team in a position which he was bought to play in. The fee was nothing to do with him but he doesn't seem to be handling the pressure too well judging from his body language when he does get some game time.

Mowbray is tempering the expectation levels. I think he is right as there have been a few getting carried away with results and performances. Ideally I think we need Mulgrew and Lenihan fit for this as QPR have some decent strikers namely Wells, Hemed and the giant Smith. I saw them beat Aston Villa on Friday and was surprised to hear that they haven't conceded for three games and only conceded two in five. It seems that their two centre backs, Leistner and Lynch are of the more robust variety so I think it's imperative that Danny Graham starts to try and counter this. I would be tempted to play Palmer in the number ten role after his second half performance against West Brom.

The more I think about it the more surreal it becomes. His oversized shirt and gloves, his apparent lack of knowledge on the back pass rule and his general demeanour made him appear like anything but a keeper. For anybody who remembers the football scene from Kes we might have the new Billy Casper.

For me we need a fulcrum to the team, a conduit who other players feed off and that man is Danny Graham and maybe Brereton in time. Dack doesn't look half the player when he is in the role he was asked to play yesterday and I would argue that with a genuine number nine we could have won yesterday. In the circumstances and as the game unfolded I was delighted with a point but I (and every other fan I spoke to in the ground pre match) was confused and perplexed by the team he selected. I watched Derby destroy West Brom last week without changing their game or personnel too much. The only difference I noticed was a high pressing game. By his own admission Mowbray over thinks and his tactics sometimes show this.

I have seen some teams play this false nine but I honestly don't know what the benefit is. Why do you think Mowbray opted for this system and what were the benefits to us?

I'd imagine Mowbray is as self critical as any other manager. He will analyse his own decisions and discuss them with his staff. That's what every good manager I've worked for does. The arrogant one's who thought they were always right didn't get the backing of their staff.

I don't want to rain on anybody's parade but this is Rovers we are talking about here Matty. I suspect you have been around long enough to expect the unexpected which, despite the frustrations sometimes is what avidly following a football club is about. At the time of Raya's injury we had used all our substitutes. When Williams went down we envisaged us going down to nine men but I think Williams was being cute.

Having seen the Rodriguez 'challenge' on Raya again on TV I have no doubt he has intentionally done him. Raya clearly has the ball and Rodriguez leaves his foot in. The referee thought it was a foul as he gave a free kick. How he hasn't been carded is amazing. I don't buy this not that type of player nonsense. His inflammatory reaction in front of us after West Broms goal should have seen some action from the referee.
