They have been changed for TV which is irrelevant to the Preston situation.

If the police made the decision I could accept it irrespective of when that was made. Presumably a police decision would have been made in the interests of public safety which is something they know about. But it wasn't, they were happy to police an afternoon kick off and the potential that brought. My frustration is that Rovers (I have to generalise until we know who had the final say) are pretty much undermining the police by having an early kick off and inconveniencing a good number of supporters.
-
If that is one of the reasons (and I genuinely don't know) then Rovers are surely adding to the problem by selling alcohol in the ground. Now it has been confirmed by the police that the early kick off is entirely down to Rovers I have emailed Steve Waggott asking why this is the case.
-
But they were allowed to at Deepdale Jim.

That's exactly what I was driving at. Football for many fans isn't the priority and there are many reasons why. For some it's cost prohibitive or simply inconvenient. It's almost like a badge of honour for some to wear because they prioritise football over what are more important things to many.

Quite simply I think he didn't score because he was knackered. He saw Armstrong looking to whip the ball in but his legs just wouldn't get him there.
-
Do you go to every away game? And if not can I respectfully ask why?

There was an undercurrent today I felt as scores of Rovers fans, through drink or other substances were belligerent towards any authority, showed complete disregard for others and were generally obnoxious. I very rarely go onto a concourse but my friend went down at half-time and said there was beer being thrown and some were fighting. When we scored early in the second half lots of them came through the tunnel from the concourse and began pushing people who were in their seats in some kind of pseudo celebration. They then stood and blocked exits and gang ways and became aggressive with stewards when they were asked to go to their seats. And the age profile of these ranged from teenagers to blokes in their fifties. I saw parents move to other areas with their kids in fear. I'm no prude but there is a real selfishness about some of these who don't even realise they are spoiling other people's enjoyment.

I've just seen the goals and Birminghams second confirmed what I thought at the time that Raya shouldn't have been beaten by such a tame shot from that angle. He nearly conceded one in the first half by almost diving over the ball before scooping it away. I'll be disappointed if Mowbray doesn't improve on the goalkeeping position in the summer.

Clearly you aren't going to answer my question so I give up.

I know it doesn't bother you as you have said ad infinitum but do you agree with it? Do you think it's necessary or fair on people who can't make a noon kick off?
-
Why should they? The overtime money is important to people particularly in low paid jobs. People have families, why on earth should they prioritise football over that? So do you agree with the noon kick off or not? Edit: Leeds was another unnecessary early kick off which inconvenienced some supporters.
-
For a lot of people Saturday morning is overtime and the extra money helps them pay the bills. I would have got tickets for my daughter and granddaughter but she has gymnastics between 11 and 12. There is also a lot of junior football on Saturday mornings which is important to them For clarity do you agree wow the noon kick off?

The game showed us what we really know and have been saying pretty much all season. The exceptionally slow and poor start characterised lots of similar starts this season and surrendering another lead to a late goal (and a bloody poor one at that). The in between wasn't that bad as we got a foothold in the game and some of our players started to actually play. If this was a one off I could accept it but there simply has to be inherent weaknesses in some players for it to happen so often. It's an area that Mowbray has to address and in my opinion it can only be done through new players. I thought the draw was actually fair on both teams. Surprisingly Mowbray only made one change which we don't see too often. I really thought some Rovers fans were embarrassing today with their behaviour. Maybe I'm getting too old but throwing beer, abusive behaviour and fighting amongst themselves doesn't do our club any favours.

Blackburn Hawks sent a representative and the club mascot to my granddaughters school a couple of weeks ago and wooed the kids with a presentation about the club and ice hockey in general. They offered the school 250 (I think) tickets for an upcoming game at a pound per ticket for both adults and kids. I believe the uptake has been good. For the life in me I don't know why Rovers aren't tapping into this too.

Other Football League 2018/19
arbitro replied to SBlue's topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
The EFL flexing their muscles on Coventry whilst Bolton and Birmingham ride roughshod through their financial regulations. They should be looking to help Coventry not threatening them with expulsion and virtually killing off a football club. I see Shaun Harvey is leaving the EFL at the end of the season. -
An Evening with Tony Mowbray

i was at that game and I honestly don't remember Brereton standing out. As I recall Forest were poor on the day and we scraped a 1-0 win. -
An Evening with Tony Mowbray

Some interesting stuffing Mowbray and reassuring to hear that he acknowledges some points that the more grounded, realistic posters on here have been saying. What irks me a little though is why some of the players who he says now aren't good enough got new contracts. Surely they should have proved themselves at Championship level first. The real stumbling block to a rebuild of the squad could well be our esteemed owners. Now Mowbray has gone public he has done so will the knowledge and confidence of financial backing. Thanks to those who attended and took the trouble to post updates. -
Just what the doctor ordered. Playing away at a ground where we rarely get anything, in poor form with an acute shortage of centre backs. Using the twisted logic we football fans sometimes apply I'm going for a comfortable away win.

Kean, somehow still getting jobs in football

After the first game of the relegation from the PL season I called 606 and told Jason Roberts and Darren Fletcher that we would be relegated and cited several reasons why. They were both so condescending and said I was talking rubbish, too early etc. Like you I wanted to shove it up them both when the inevitable happened. -
It really doesn't matter how many chances either side missed, the result is the only thing that matters. It riles me when managers or supporters use this as an excuse for a defeat. Missing chances regularly, like conceding sloppy goals is usually the result of ineptitude and ultimately the manager has the responsibility for results. I've never heard of a player being sacked for poor results, the buck stops with the manager.

My point was to show how ludicrous it was to drop Nyambe after his perceived two 'bad' games. I agree with your second sentence which in my opinion highlights that Mowbray has his favourites and will drop others to play them even if they are out of position.
-
Correct me if I'm wrong but the point of a poll is to gauge opinion. Now we know that less than 4% want him sacking and the majority want to review his position in the summer and 40% are happy with him. Job done apart from a small minority who want to take some kind of moral high ground and not accept other people's opinions.
-
So on the back of two poor performances does anybody expect Mulgrew to be dropped? And in those games Mowbray mentioned Nyambe was far from our worst player. Against Birmingham Raya turned the game against us with his ridiculous decision to chase a loose ball. Had we won I'd wager Mowbray wouldn't have considered that Nyambe had a poor game.

I noticed that the volatile East Midlands derby is being played on Monday night. I really don't understand Rovers (or Caleys) concerns for the Nobbers game. Any disorder will occur away from the ground and the police will, as always deal with it. The 'bubble' we have for the Burnley matches is at the request of the police but clearly they don't have any concerns for the Preston games as evidenced by the 3 pm kick off over there. But ultimately Waggott should be questioning him and linking the ridiculous decision to lost revenue and another example of pissing off supporters.
