  1. So you think the owners ( who according to most are that disinterested they don't even know when we're playing) would be that interested or invested that they'd intervene in a potential transfer on the basis they thought he should have a one year deal instead of two?
  2. Weird, I thought it was a clear foul by Trafford. Ref was right on top of it, gave himself a couple of seconds to think about it, then pointed to the spot.
  3. Eh? Who was on the second one then? Trafford picked up a yellow card for his sins.
  4. We haven't signed anyone. (in the priority positions)
  5. 1st one definitely was, I thought the Sunderland player conned the ref, kicked his own foot. 2nd one was nailed on I thought. Trafford wiped the player out and didn't even get a touch on the ball.
  6. True legend of the game. Not surprisingly my favourite memory of him was the back heel for City that sent the Red Scum down in 1974. He scored the winner and looked absolutely distraught poor chap. Had to be consoled by his team mates. Ballon D'Or winner in the days when they didn't make a fuss about it. RIP.
  7. Supposedly they were willing to go up to £10m for Cannon but were outbid by Sheff Utd and Sunderland. Sunderland will be wondering how they didn't get 3 points out of that. Much the better side I thought and missed a couple of sitters and 2 penalties. They should have made someone else take the 2nd pen, he put it EXACTLY in the same place!
  8. Top and bottom of it. Great post as a whole.
  9. They're going to be sadly disappointed.
  10. Can't agree with that at all, in general the better players get snapped up earlier in the window and by the end you're left with the crap no-one else wants and/or whatever loanees the Premier League Clubs have condescended to make available, who may not play in the positions you want to fill.
  11. I would imagine that second part is a myth -Waggott allegedly was in the process of requesting funding for the January transfer window as at the end of November. They'll have autonomy within that extra budget such as it is, if a player falls within budget there's no reason why it would have to be run by them again.
  12. Initially it was but they are both offering to buy him outright now I think. Don't expect us to be competing at those sorts of financial levels but the point is they've identified their target and put steps in motion to try and get him. There's no real evidence we've done that with anyone.
  13. Oh give it a rest. "At our level" Sunderland and Sheffield United are looking for a striker - yeah, they've put matching £13m bids in for one! "Our level" indeed!
  14. Recruitment department really excelled themselves as usual this January, we've known about the priority positions for months and yet half way through the window there's absolutely no sign of anyone. What do they do all year?
  15. https://footballleagueworld.co.uk/coventry-city-urged-to-cut-losses-on-thomas-asante-after-blackburn-bid/¹ Fair to say this Coventry Supporter isn't a fan of Assante.
  16. Seems very small beer in the general scheme of things when we have Sigurdsson and Mcfadzean not contributing anything whatsoever on the pitch.
  17. Just waiting for him to say he wants to keep the player and/or for Coventry to say our bid has been rejected. (That's if we've even made a bid) Everyone will respect his opinion on the subject then. Lol.
  18. Agreed. Should still be able to spot a player though.
  19. This is going round in circles! The fact someone else may or may not be better than him is hardly an endorsement. Should we just leave it as " "Some managers may fancy certain players that other managers do not and the fact they might rate them doesn't necessarily mean they are particularly good. Similarly the opinions of a previous Club's supporters on a player don't always mean they are particularly poor or might not improve in a new environment"** Lol. (** Although if nearly everyone is unanimous that's generally a useful guide)
  20. I don't think I am, the proposition or at least an inference was being put forward that because another experienced EFL manager was allegedly after him that meant he must be a good player. Whatever you might say about Robbins, he seemingly didn't rate Assante enough at Coventry to start him regularly in what is his apparently the player's favoured position and if Lampard sells him then, obviously, he too favours other players in that position.
