  1. Yes I was looking at how much was needed for 6th place the other day. The last 2 seasons 71 points would have secured 6th place, 3 seasons ago it would have been 74. So I'm fairly sure 75 points will secure the play offs which is "only" 23 points from 18 games. Surely doable. That should be the bare minimum target though and really we should be targeting something like 88 points which ought to secure 2nd especially if Bournemouth continue to falter. Two points a game.
  2. Not a conundrum at all. Not even worthy of consideration. Bournemouth playing silly buggers and I think we're on top of what they're up to. We're they to multiply the alleged offer by 5 or 6 it might be worth having the conversation but that's not going to happen due to his contract situation. There's not even a hint of a suggestion that the performances of the out of contract three have dipped one iota either. You'd think if that was going to happen it would have been this month in order to try and force a move but it simply hasn't occurred.
  3. In fact the same could be said of all three of "the contract rebels".
  4. Is the source of the rumour Alex Crook the guy who works on Talksport? They're in the business of stirring up gossip and transfer tittle tattle. Don't think either he or Sharpe have the faintest idea what's actually going on at the Club or the financial position this window.
  5. We won't. We should put a bid in for one of their players just to piss them off.
  6. There's absolutely zero chance we'll sell Rothwell to Bournemouth. They're just playing silly buggers trying to unsettle the player and us.
  7. There's one playing next to them. Wharton.
  8. That's rubbish. If Mowbray rated him highly enough he'd tell the owners that he thought Nyambe was worth what he was asking for and he'd have signed a new deal by now. Would have cost a lot less if he'd done it 24-30 months ago though.
  9. I wouldn't move Nyambe. We saw how good he is again tonight as there was zero threat down his side of the pitch. (For God's sake Mowbray/Waggott, give him what he wants). Whether Zeefiuck could play there I've no idea but I'm never too comfortable with a right footer on the left or vice versa.
  10. Right, we have the platform thanks to last night's incredibly gutsy performance. We just need bodies in now to give ourselves the chance. Come on Mr. Park pull your finger out of your backside and give us 3 signings that will blow our socks off.
  11. Gallagher was ok tonight but he's still a dreadful signing for £5m. The fact he has shown he can put a passable shift in just goes to highlight how unacceptable the majority of his performances have been since his return. Jim is quite right, he played much more centrally tonight and looked better for it. Edun was up against a good player in Jones but still had a shocker.
  12. The "problem" is the ridiculous walk on prices imposed by Waggott!
  13. Really gritty determined performance tonight, the exact opposite of the horror show at Hull. Fantastic three points with a patched up side. No real downside in the circumstances but Edun had an absolute nightmare at LB and proved if any proof were actually needed that Nyambe type replacements aren't just readily available from the lower divisions.
  14. Dreadfully negative line up. Playing for a point. If he was going like that, I'd have gone Davenport alongside Travis and Butterworth behind Khedra. Edit: Chapman should also be in the squad. Mowbray cutting off his nose to spite his face.
  15. Couldn't read that article in full without subscribing but if it solely relates to replacing Markanday , I can't see too much wrong with replacing a permanent signing who's got injured with a loanee. The major investment is needed in a striker and we imo also need a central midfielder at the very least so it wouldn't make a lot of sense to throw major money at DM's position with him and Poveda to possibly return at some point.
  16. That would be pretty disappointing imo if we hadn't come up with some different and better targets since summer thanks to our elevated League position. Hedges would be an uninspiring signing and Maja has had his injury worries therefore might be safer to look elsewhere.
  17. Pickering's nowhere near that sort of level. Wharton could go on to big things imo. Hopefully with us.
  18. I hope the players aren't feeling as paranoid - I disagree entirely that events are conspiring against us. If one of our main rivals for automatic promotion (Bournemouth) playing like a bag of spanners is "events conspiring against us" then I'll have some of that! We've had a remarkable run with injuries really in the first half of the season, the success has been based on fielding the same eleven players game after game and that couldn't go on indefinitely. It's a shame that BB is missing for 2 games but really the Chile thing has been central to his transformation. It's even more of a shame that DM is injured but whilst the circumstances do seem extremely odd, injuries happen. What we do need is our recruitment department to stop picking fluff out of their naval for once and bring in the players we need in the positions we actually need them as opposed to simply waiting until the last minute and ringing round enquiring who is available on loan. Really our targets should all have been lined up and deals done in the first week of the window for me but hey ho. There's a lot still to be done, and we need results and deals got over the line not the usual hard luck stories after the event
  19. Sorry not having that at all. Absolute nonsense.
  20. Anyhow C'mon Rovers, chop chop, only ten days to go and ideally three additional bodies in needed. Striker, central midfield, back up keeper? Let's get the business done early and not be messing about in the last few hours of the window then miss out like in summer.
  21. Nyambe should be straight back in. Anything else would be lunacy. Ayala would have to wait until there are signs that any of the other three CB's who have done so well are struggling for me as well. And why on earth would you pick Gallagher after his horror show on Wednesday? He should never play for us again!
  22. There's zero chance of any of the top few Clubs selling a key player to each other I'd have thought, the only value a bid for Solanke would have would be to wind Bournemouth up and try to unsettle the player as they did with us when they publicised an alleged interest in Rothwell.
  23. Typically you need a certain number of goals to go up but I don't think it maters where they come from per se. Historically you always needed two 20 goal plus a season strikers to go up. These days not as many teams play with two out and out front men so it's more normal that the goals are spread around. All that said IF BB weighed in with a second half of the season like his first and scored 40 goals, we wouldn't need that many goals from elsewhere. It's fairly unrealistic to expect that however so it's likely other players will have to step up and chip in more.
