  1. Barely, you're back to Evans /Smallwood type fare. If we have enough money to bring in a back up RB without sacrificing any quality in the starting positions then fine. If not I'd sooner see any money spent improving the first choice starting eleven.
  2. You can use that same argument all over the pitch though. We're an injury for Travis away from having to endure a Johnson/Evans central midfield or an injury to Armstrong away from hoping BB or Gallagher can come up with 15 - 20 goals. I'd rather any money was spent on a first choice CB and LB.
  3. In terms of our priorities that has to be miles down the list. We need to sort the starting eleven first and if money is tight I wouldn't be putting any resources into back up players.
  4. I thought he looked pretty decent on the rare occasions he got any minutes on the pitch. Didn't the Chelsea loan manager travel up here to query why he wasn't getting more game time?
  5. I don't know whether we have adequate contacts at Chelsea or not but your argument we have based on the fact we didn't sign one of their youngsters in Jan seems a bit thin. Personally I wouldn't imagine they'd be in any rush to loan us players in future given the way Mowbray treated Palmer.
  6. Exactly, if you were Nyambe why on earth would you sign a new deal? Frequently overlooked in favour of the woeful Bennett and stifled in terms of his attacking play by timid Tony. Will be able to name his price if he allows his contract to run down. Abysmal management and forward planning by us.
  7. Didn't watch the game. Disappointed to see Wharton discarded after a decent performance last week. Good to see JRC being used in what I assume is his more natural position, I've not been at all impressed with him at full back. Good to hear Nyambe played well. Will be a top player in years to come imo, shame we'll lose him for nothing at the end of the season (if he's here that long) due to the negligence of management. Good to hear we have some talented youngsters, shame Mowbray is in charge and most of them probably won't feature once the League gets underway. Wouldn't be surprised if Mowbray prefers a safety first (in his mind) line up for the League something like Kaminski Bennett Lenihan Williams Bell Holtby Travis Johnson Gallagher Armstrong JRC
  8. I am comparing! Brentford are in London, we're not which makes the entire comparison virtually meaningless. As a secondary factor the facilities in the Riverside are antiquated by modern standards which is why its considerably cheaper than the rest of the ground. Haven't seen Preston's or Wycombe's prices but if they're more than us that doesn't mean to say we've got it right, more that both Clubs have got it wrong in Preston's case and in the case of Wycombe you again have to take into account disposable income down there.
  9. Nor are the facilities in the Riverside remotely comparable to what they will be like in Brentford's new stadium. Rather silly example anyway primarily due to the London weighting but also the gulf in class between the two Clubs on the pitch and in the manager's dug out. Would you be willing to pay £449 here if we had their team, manager and recruitment set up? I certainly would.
  10. Ain't that the truth. Strange really when our manager has asked his mate and our first team coach who has no particular standing or gravitas within the game to put a different hat on and moonlight by heading up transfer negotiations.......... Genius ! You can't understand why everyone doesn't do it!
  11. Just caught up with the statement from Waggons 24 hours late. After I've been extremely critical of the Club for an apparent unwillingness to do anything at this crucial time I suppose any communication of sorts outlining their thoughts is welcome but as another poster said that's where the credit stops. So forgive me if I've misread it but my understanding of the statement is: - there'll be no credit carried forward for any supporters who weren't happy with or who were unable to access an I follow pass at the end of last season - prices for this season will be in excess of a full priced ticket for actual attendance at 19 games last year. Increases thinly passed off as necessary to compensate for a price freeze for younger fans. - no refunds on this year's full season ticket price if part or all of the season takes price behind closed doors. - "We're all in it together" but whilst supporters will be asked to shell out extra for a season ticket this season for games they may not even be able to see in person, there's no suggestion Waggott will be volunteering to take a small cut in his 300k p.a. salary to demonstrate that, like the fans, he will be doing his bit. I'm aghast, but perhaps not surprised, at the brass neck of Waggott. I've never met the bloke but he comes across as an absolute moron. John Williams was always very steadfast in his belief that the fans should show loyalty to the Club but I doubt even he would have the brass neck to come out with that pile of crap. I always thought that I would renew my ST no matter what the circumstances or even if I didn't attend (down to Mowbray rather than Covid) to help the Club out but I have to say Waggott is testing my patience to the absolute limit. On a minor note, how the fook can you buy a shirt to help out (which again I would have been willing to do) when they can't even be bothered to open the Club shop or come up with a date when they'll be on general sale? My better half has seen the Club statement and her response was "You're not getting one are you, you don't even know if you'll be allowed in". Have to say that's the pragmatic view but Waggott's response appears to be "You'll have to take that possibility on the chin AND pay more for the privilege" I'm astounded that anyone of full capacity could even utter the words "price increase" in the current climate. Prices should have been frozen across the Board from last year as a thank you for supporters who continue to support the Club at a difficult time with further refunds or credit given for any games that can't be viewed in person and have to be watched on i follow.
  12. Nail, hammer, head. Cracking post. Can you imagine the people behind the scenes at Ewood carrying on like this if Jack Walker was still in charge? We have a new kit and no idea whatsoever when it'll be going on open sale. The Club Shop has remained shut despite the fact shops have been allowed to open for ages, ditto I'm guessing Blues Bar, there are no season tickets or memberships for next season on sale and not even a hint that we are bothered about such. They've had months to think about this. The very least they could do is to keep everyone up to date with they're current thinking and issue regular statements along the lines of "If the situation is X we hope to do Y" but if it's "A" we hope to do "B" etc. Instead the approach is "We're doing nothing because it takes a bit of effort and we simply can't be arsed" Meanwhile the ground and it's surrounds fall into disrespair all around us due to neglect when a little tidying up would cost hardly anything in terms of money and time. If I was in charge, I'd boot Waggott so far down the road he wouldn't land until he got back to Coventry. The Club is dying on it's feet while he sits there doing nothing collecting his 300k p.a. It really upsets me. These could be make or break times for the Club in terms of its survival going forward and he can't be bothered doing anything.
  13. Why on earth not? He's the manager, the buck stops with him.
  14. This window hasn't really panned out any differently to any other since we were promoted. The story about having a bid in for Kipre seems to match our usual modus operandi. There's a fee and wages that will get a player into the Club, we offer something else entirely, miss out altogether on our original targets, end up scratching around at the last minute chucking money like water at anyone still available and then after the window shuts complain at the level of the market and how we almost got various deals over the line. We got away with it last year to some extent with Tosin although its questionable how sound a long term strategy it is to fritter money away on loan fees every year and be in the position of having to replace key players every 12 months. We might not be quite so lucky this time although the silver lining might be that if we struggle to bring anyone else in it will allow youngsters like Wharton and Dolan to blossom.
  15. I've said already that the Club could have introduced a direct debit scheme which could be amended as appropriate when it is known whether a season ticket membership for this season will take the form of an i follow pass, actual attendance or a combination of both as the season progresses. As it stands we'll be left completely high and dry once the Government make a decision. As far as the Club Shop is concerned, how much does it cost to have a couple of staff manning the shop? And especially seeing as said staff will be on furlough anyway any cost savings will be absolutely minimal. You seem fairly desperate to condone downright laziness on the part of those behind the scenes at Ewood whilst labelling my relatively mild criticism as over the top hyperbole! Extremely odd behaviour.but then these are bizarre times I suppose.
  16. Disagree completely. How come other shops can re-open for business and put a few distancing stickers on the floor and plastic screens up and we cant? The answer is simple and is the same as the refusal to try and sell any form of membership or season ticket for next season - we simply can't be bothered putting any thought into it about how to overcome any potential obstacles. To use the much hackneyed cliche, it's an absolute disgrace and I don't think Waggott should be surprised if the fan base show a similar level of apathy when they finally pull their finger out of their collective backsides and come up with anything.
  17. Went past the ground today willing to spend some money on a new shirt and Rovers face mask. Metal barriers up and everything fenced off. You couldn't get outside the ground or by Jack's statue if you wanted. The vibe coming out of the place is most definitely not open for business.
  18. Amen to that Tom. If he's good enough he's old enough . What does it matter the standard of the opposition he's been up against thus far, he still looked the pick of the players on Saturday! Sod bringing him on as an impact player as well. Give him a start and see how he does. If he doesn't cut it, give someone else the chance. It isn't difficult but no doubt Mowbray will try to make it so by playing an older player completely out of position who looks as comfortable as a fish on a bike.
  19. Not followed the transfer news for the last couple of days, but I'm guessing with less than two weeks to go before than the start of the season, it's the usual "we tried hard but couldn't get the deals over the line" hard luck sob story in relation to the majority of our targets? (with the exception of the keeper).
  20. I really like the new kit, a proper shade of 1992 blue and the sponsor in black on the front looks very understated, much better than it would be in red and at least we don't have to endure the toilet seat on the front of our strip anymore. Best for years, I think I'll purchase (if they're on sale). I don't mind looking like a (royal) blue and white sausage for a couple of weeks until the weather turns too cold to wear it on it's own!
  21. Based on today only Wharton looked remotely near Championship standard. Thought Lenihan was very poor but also thought the midfield piled pressure on the defence by being non existent between Holtby going off and Dolan coming on.
  22. He's likely to be disappointed ........ my mates son says Doncaster want £3m for him.
  23. I half agree with you, I thought JRC was terrible and consistently AWOL (has Mowray played him in every position bar his favoured one?) but I also thought Rothwell was extremely disappointing when he came on today and I'm a fan of his.
  24. Very fortunate in the end after that second half display. Thought both full backs had terrible games, Fisher had looked confident but then did "a Walton" for their second goal. Bell did redeem himself slightly by doing well for our pen. In midfield thought Johnson was a joke second half, must have thought he was playing walking football. Rothwell was anonymous as well when he came on. Up front thought BB did quite well then he missed a sitter. Armstrong didn't look arsed, hope he's not angling for a move, didn't think Chapman was as bad as people are making out,did some nice things but Dolan looked the pick of the bunch when he came on. Overall a lot of improvement needed and on that evidence we need Holtby back ASAP.
