Summer transfer window 2021.
RevidgeBlue replied to chaddyrovers's topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
You might be right but hypothetically were it to happen the conversation would go something like this: Balaji: "So Danny £1m p.a. plus a healthy bonus in the event of promotion to the Premier League". Cowley: "Done, what a dream job for me, Blackburn Rovers fantastic history, Premier League facilities, Cat 1 Academy etc etc" -
Alex or Darren?

Could well be a Club plant but even a Club plant would have some nerve posting that load of garbage about having no ambition beyond survival. You'd expect a Club plant to post that the aim was success and pretend that (against all the evidence) Mowbray was still the man to deliver it. No point in the doors being open if the aim isn't to be successful. And whether this post is from a Club plant or a fan of another Club on the wind up the fact that these sort of people have to ignore and can't get round is that we have multi billionaire owners who underpin a reasonable budget which should be enough to make us competitive under a better management team. If there is a massive shortfall in income due to Covid the underperforming incumbents can just trot off to the owners to make up the shortfall or if they mess up in the transfer market for the umpteenth time they can just ask for more money to bring in another couple of loanees to cover their mistakes. How many other Clubs have that luxury?

Exactly, that's what the manager of our Club should be doing - talking Blackburn Rovers up. -

More pertinently, it doesn't sound from that as though Cowley would be crawling over broken glass to come here as manager if Mowbray were to be replaced. -
Getting his excuses in already saying how difficult negotiations are. He really is pathetic. Let's hope the fact he appears to have been snubbed by the owners is a clear sign he'll be off after tomorrow's game.
-
More absolute nonsense being lapped up without so much as a murmur of dissent by the local media. Wasn't having a go at you chaddy, I know you were only relaying the story
-
A proper CEO would put an end to all this sort of nonsense. Downing was a terrible signing second time around so annexing him to the coaching staff just sounds like a desperate attempt to justify the expenditure on bringing him in.
-
On Holtby, not really bothered either way whether he stays or goes. When we were playing well at the start of the season I thought he was the key to it all but since that initial phenomenal burst he's been very inconsistent. There's a lot more players than him we need to see the back off first though, Bennett, Evans and Johnson being the most obvious three who spring to mind.
-
What, why? Why on earth should Downing get a cushy job courtesy of the Club when he retires? What can he possibly add to the mix working under Barr if Barr is still here? It was ludicrous that Downing received a second playing contract in the first place to sit there doing nothing. This is an even more ludicrous notion and yet more evidence if any were needed that the Coventrio need disbanding asap.
-
Even in the midst of the couple of wins, we've been beaten by Sheff Wed. and failed to beat Rotherham. That should indicate the sort of level we'll be at were he to stay.
-
One game to go. Hopefully............ The alternative is barely worth contemplating.

It would have made a lot more sense to recall Magloire and/or Carter early and see how they looked wouldn't it?

Time will tell in that respect I suppose. As I understand it some of darrenrover's team have contacts and their ear to the ground in India in relation to their own work and for that reason they are currently proceeding on the assumption that the owners are acting in good faith as regards BRFC. I can't see any automatic reason why, just because dialogue has not occurred in the past for whatever reason, it can not take place in future. -
Hopefully only another 2 games left with him at the helm. Anything else, and him and his mates fooking up yet another transfer window, simply doesn't bear thinking about.

As I understand it the ultimate aim is to establish a dialogue with the owners and offer either support and advice purely for the love of the Club or more formal assistance in a professional capacity if requested. Unfortunately the Brockhall debacle put a spanner in the works and become a more pressing and immediate matter which needed everyone's input in the interim. If that scheme or anything like it is firmly off the table for now then I'd imagine the offer to the owners from darrenrover's team is still very much on the table and hopefully progress can be made at some point if the owners feel comfortable with the situation. -

I wouldn't criticise anyone for renewing or not renewing this season Paul, like I say in my view it's almost an impossible decision. Renew and you're endorsing Waggott/Mowbray/Venus. Boycott and you're giving Waggott almost free rein to run the Club into the ground even further. On balance I'd like to see 20k fans back in the stadium when allowed screaming their disapproval of the Coventrio if all or any of them are still here by then. On the owners (tin hat on) whilst their overall record is undeniably dismal I'd say they've ALMOST been model owners since relegation to League one. The one thing you can criticise them for (and unfortunately it's a bloody big one and looking worse by the day) is putting too much trust in Mowbray and allowing him to install his choice of CEO which is obviously a huge conflict of interest. And due to the same trust not sacking the manager some considerable time ago. On balance though I feel the fact they're still here after 10 years pumping in £20m p.a. just to keep us afloat implies an element of good faith. I'd rather see us going forward with the safety net of their financial clout but with the right guidance. (Which is the sort of thing Darrenrover is offering to go back to my last post) On your own personal circumstances obviously I fully empathise. Hope Tom is well. -

Not sure if you're having a dig at darrenrover here Paul, but if you are, it's completely wide of the mark. As originally outlined in the QEGS thread darrenrover IS attempting to get off his backside and do something about it. That process has already started and I understand it is still ongoing. If he comes across as a bit overexcitable at times it's only because of his over-riding passion for the Club and his utter frustration with current events. I didn't realise until the QEGS thread was posted that I went to the school at roughly the same time as darrenrover albeit two or three years behind. Completely independently of darrenrover's efforts I also decided it was a line in the sand moment when our CEO suddenly decided it was a bright idea to flog off our infrastructure for short term gain and the local press didn't seem inclined to air the pros and cons in Public. Perhaps as "a posh lad from QEGS" perhaps I shouldn't have bothered intervening and maybe we would have eventually ended up with no worthwhile training facilities whilst certain individuals would have long since disappeared into the sunset with pockets stuffed full of cash. Not having a go at you specifically Paul but people need to identify who are the true enemies here. Darrenrover is not the enemy, his only "crime" is to want things to improve and he is taking steps in pursuit of that aim. No-one can absolutely guarantee whether or not those steps will ultimately be successful but if not I'm sure it won't be for the want of trying. Anyone can knock darrenrover if they like, that's entirely their prerogative, but if nothing changes and the situation continues to deteriorate then I trust no-one will complain about that if they aren't prepared to do anything themselves. -

I was about to say, why on earth do people bother putting their own concept kits up months after the real ones will have been chosen as it's completely pointless. I have to say you've hit the nail on the head with those two though- bang on. Personally I'd always have a halved away strip like the home one and just rotate the colours. Shame the real ones will probably look nothing like those whatsoever. In fact I'm dreading them - bargain basement end of the market springs to mind - although I wonder if they'll be able to withstand nuclear wars like those Kappa ones from c 1996/7? -

I don't disagree with you Chaddy just that I think it's extremely unlikely to happen under the current regime. Waggott and the local Constabulary give off the impression that for them large crowds are too much of an inconvenience and far too much like hard work. And as Matty said his modus operandi since being here has been to rinse an ever decreasing hard core for as much as he can get out of them rather than make any genuine effort to increase attendances. -

£250? You're having a laugh aren't you, Swag got rid of the affordable seating and raised prices to a near minimum £400 for a season when no-one could attend! -

At this moment in time is it the owners that need ousting? As for renewal next season it's a real catch 22 situation. Renew and you're effectively endorsing the abysmal performance of Mowbray, Venus and Waggott. Abstain, and the more people that do that gives Waggott the perfect excuse to mothball more and more of Ewood and come up with another scheme to flog Brockhall. I really really don't want to do either but obviously I'll have to do one or the other. I'm erring on the side of renewing so I can vent my disapproval against the Coventrio from inside the ground and lobby for their removal from the moral high ground of being a season ticket holder rather than being someone who no longer attends games or who contributes nothing to the Club financially. -

To be fair, that article doesn't really say there'll definitely be a £2m stitch pitch it's Waggott saying he's going to try and obtain the finance for one. Looks like he's failed in that task and it's yet another addition to his rapidly growing catalogue of failures since joining the Club. He also said that if all else failed he could maybe ask the owners but was trying not to. Can we even know for certain if he has asked them? Fairly illuminating that Cheston was telling the Fans Forum that finance could be arranged for the new training centre to be built yet we apparently can't raise the relatively much more modest sum of £2m for a new pitch. I think that says everything about what the likelihood of a new training centre of any decent specification would have been.
