Yet Blackpool beat Fulham 1-0 at home in September, so how can they compete and we (allegedly) can't? -

Exactly. When I was discussing the original attempt to flog off Brockhall in the midst of a 16 game losing run on a Coventry forum someone said: "So you're us 5 years ago. Sorry" And look how they've thrived since Mowbray/Waggot/Venus left their Club. Regardless of the owners, anyone who thinks that a better manager than Mowbray couldn't do a better job than him with the same set of players and with the same financial backing, simply isn't thinking straight. -
Hypothetically if you brought in Guardiola then you've solved problems 1-4 and 6 at a stroke and problem 5 wouldn't go away completely as the transfer budget would still be limited by FFP restrictions. You would however have a fabulous coach who would work with and undoubtedly improve the existing playing staff. Point taken re: the off the field matters, they would need sorting out as well.

I'd urge everyone to get down to Ewood and give Mowbray, Waggott ( if he can be bothered turning up for once) Venus and Lowe what for on Saturday irrespective of the result -
Yeah, I'm not just basing it on on some random hope that things will miraculously improve out of nowhere SG, I'm not that daft. Any cautious optimism is on the basis of specific information received but unfortunately having (supposedly) grand plans for the Club and leaving Waggott/Mowbray/ Venus et al in situ is completely incompatible.
-
Funny thing is Parson, I'm fairly sure it's incorrect to say that they don't know what's going on down at Ewood or "aren't interested". They have a funny way of going about things by our conventional yardsticks though and unless they start employing the right calibre of people and there is root and branch reform throughout the Club and they are prepared to step in swiftly if things start going wrong in future, it's hard to see much chance of any improvement.

Well, I've been partially supportive of the owners recently because I do think they've shown tremendous financial commitment to the Club over the last ten years or so and never more so than recently in the aftermath of the pandemic. I was however appalled when Mowbray was not sacked at the back end of last season after amongst other things: - delivering the 3rd worst run over a 16 game period in our 145 year history. -- saying he didn't bother looking at the table - and taking off our RB during a game, replacing him with a CF then changing said CF for a CH ten minutes later. Then there's the scandal of our best players all being allowed to run their contracts down. A proper manager and CEO would have prioritised resources to protect the Club's most valuable assets and would have sacrificed some of the less valuable ones. There's surely little chance now of anyone signing anything unless Mowbray and his motley assortment of deadbeats on the bench are sacked. Rothwell's face when he was as usual hauled off last night shortly after the hour mark was an absolute picture. The reason I was so adamant Mowbray had to go last season was that this one would be (at best) wasted if he stayed. Exactly the same scenario applies to next season if he is allowed to see this one out - there's a good chance that will be wasted as well unless someone can transform us more or less overnight. It has been left far too long to sack him already but it's never too late to try and bring about some improvement by getting rid now as opposed to exacerbating the situation by leaving him in situ I and several other have heard hints of relatively impressive sounding plans to transform the future of the Club over the next few years. I'm prepared to take those apparent good intentions at face value at this stage but unfortunately that doesn't square with the inertia where Waggott, Mowbray and his coaching staff are concerned. He should have gone last season but didn't and we're going to pay for it with several more results of this ilk I fear, along with theoretically valuable players leaving for next to nothing. Just as Mowbray has knackered up the efforts of the Commercial Department to drum up a bit of interest in the Club with the Sheff Utd promotion thanks to last night's shambles, so he will knacker up any good intentions the owners may have for the medium term if allowed to remain in his post. And, unfortunately, even for me it will become increasingly difficult to believe in the veracity of the owners motives if he and Waggott are not removed. We can't succeed with them in situ no matter how much money the owners pump in in good faith. If the owners are genuinely serious about reviving our fortunes Waggott and Mowbray HAVE to go. And quickly. How much better would the 146 year "celebrations" had been had they coincided with the unveiling of (say) Hughes or Wilder, Tom Finn, a proficient coaching staff and the the promise of a new era? Every day Mowbray and Co remain in their posts is another day wasted, and more fans potentially lost forever. -

I'm not particularly upset or even surprised by last night's defeat, a scoreline like that has been on the cards for nearly three years under Mowbray's tenure, the only real surprise is it took so long to finally happen. What did surprise me was his complete lack of contrition and sheer front in trying to insult the fans intelligence by suggesting 0-7 home defeats are just one of those things which can happen and the game could have gone differently and we just go again etc etc. Even by the standards of last season, for sheer brass neckery that marked a new low point imo. I'm convinced last season he thought he was going, the players thought he was going, the local press thought he was going and he said some quite ridiculous things to try and hasten a pay off which to everyone's amazement never actually came. Judging by last night's comments he still wants a pay off. We have no chance of moving on and/or improving until he goes.

Sums it up nicely.

How can you let them know what you think if you're not in the ground? Agree wholeheartedly with the rest. -

Surely only Mowbray could deliver a record home defeat three days before the Club were rather strangely trying to drum up interest by somewhat bizarrely celebrating a 146 year anniversary. And surely only Mowbray could be so completely devoid of contrition after delivering the worst result in our 146 year history. And that shortly after a 3rd worst ever run of 17 games. Even former Burnley man Coyle showed far more respect for the Club when he was here. Waggott, Mowbray, Venus, Lowe - absolute chancers aboard the gravy train happy to fritter away the owners money and stick two fingers up at the fans. Shelve Plan A of trying to limp through until the end of the season. Get rid NOW and bring in Hughes or Wilder, Tom Finn and a decent coaching team and let's at least have personnel representing the Club with a bit of dignity who treat the fans with a bit of respect and who expect certain standards on the pitch. -

First bit, suspect he feels fairly untouchable until his contract expires unless it looks like we're going down. Second bit, agree he doesn't give a flying fuck, probably because he knows he won't be here next season irrespective of tonight. At least could have apologised to the fans for the worst defeat in the Club's history though. -

Where to start with that..... can't even remember a 5 goal defeat at home in 51 years of watching us let alone 6 or 7. Mowbray should have been sacked early 2019 we've been going backwards ever since, this is what you get when you leave a lame duck manager in situ and with the better players set to walk out for nothing soon to boot. This result might be a blessing in disguise.....it will look extremely odd if Venky's don't act now. -

Not a flicker of emotion from Venus or Lowe either after the sending off or after the 4th went in. Taking everyone and the Club for absolute mugs. -

Nowhere to be seen for the 4th either. Elsewhere, Butterworth coming on at 4 down - that'll do wonders for his confidence. -

I actually thought he was having a nightmare defensively tonight. Terrible play from him Van Hecke Rothwell and Johnson for the first as well. -

Wasn't an obvious handball for me, was more ball to hand. Straw clutching in the extreme to try and defend the sending off on that basis. -
Attendances: A cause for concern
RevidgeBlue replied to SIMON GARNERS 194's topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
Have to agree with this. What do they do if a substantial chunk say "Not going again until Mowbray/Waggott leave." (Which would have been my reasoning had I decided not to take up my ST once more this season) Alternatively what would they do if most said "Not going because of the owners?" Would they have the testicular fortitude to report that back? Much easier to blame it all on Covid. -

Be good if he came back in reasonable form and we could jettison the useless Gallagher out of the side once and for all. -

Been on a day out to Derby. Great day out and good result. Decent first half , would have been 4 up if Gallagher was half decent, he really is atrocious, if we hadn't paid £5m for him he'd probably struggle to get a game in League 2. Insipid second half bur then again Derby never really threatened until they scored on 87 mins. After that we went to pieces and CKR should really have equalised in injury time. 3 points, move on 26 to go. -
Most of the blame for our CURRENT plight does lie with Mowbray (and Waggott). Obviously things weren't tickety boo before they turned up either. It's the owners name over the door so ultimate responsibility lies with them. Where they've gone wrong up to now is to keep placing too much trust in chancers to run the Club on their behalf whether it be Kentaro or the Coventrio. Until they start employing the right calibre of people and keep a sufficiently close eye on things to intervene if it looks like they're going wrong I don't suppose we'll see much improvement and hundreds of .millions more will be wasted.
