  1. Eh? Why? Liverpool can only make the request. It's Rovers who have the final say on whether or not the match is moved now. Nothing to do with Liverpool.
  2. HT: Our new favourite club 2 Fulham 1
  3. Presumably it was. Liverpool FC apparently consulted with the family support group who recognised the club would eventually have to play at some point on April 15th and requested an away game. This request was granted. Liverpool themselves were originally content to play on April 15th because it suited their then potential fixture list best.
  4. It doesn't affect me one way or the other when the fixture is held but I also agree we should turn this latest request down flat. We've already accomodated Liverpool once already, they were perfectly happy to play on the 15 th when their fixture list was as originally scheduled, now because they're crap and have been knocked out of the Champions League, they want to move it, just to save face with a section of their support. We should be considering our OWN fans who have made the appropriate travel arrangements.
  5. From what I can deduce after trawling through 18 pages of diatribe on the Liverpool fans site last night this is the story so far: (Deep breath) As a bit of background Liverpool Football Club only apparently recognise the Hillsborough Family Support Group (HFSG). They do not recognise the seemingly more militant Hillsborough Justice Campaign (HJC). The HJC seemingly won't rest until they achieve "justice" although i'm not sure that anyone knows precisely what "justice" is. The HJC seemingly despise the HFSG seeing them as tame puppets of the Club. Another reason they seemingly despise them is that they originally wouldn't allow survivors of the tragedy into their membership, only families who had lost a loved one. From what I read that has apparently since been changed althogh one poster claimed the HFSG wouldn't even allow membership to families who had seen a loved one commit suicide in the aftermath of the tragedy. The HJC also think that Liverpool Football Club is trying to sweep Hillsborough under the carpet and distance itself from it. With it so far? Good..................................... (Another deep breath) Liverpool FC apparently consulted with the HFSG before the start of the season and they seemingly took the pragmatic view that Liverpool would have to play on April the 15 th one day, but requested an away fixture so that the memorial service could be held at Anfield. This was granted. This wasn't good enough for the HJC or a certain section of fans who don't think Liverpool should EVER play again on that date. Rick Parry the Liverpool Chief Executive appears to be a particular scapegoat in all this and the pressure seems to have been mounting since new year. Hence presumably the initial switch from 3 p.m. to 5.15 p.m. This still obviously wasn't good enough, their one valid point being that it is wholly inappropriate to hold the memorial service at Anfield then have a mad dash to get to Ewood bearing in mind a contributory factor at Hillsborough was fans arriving late. Hence pressure still seems to have been building on Liverpool the Club and Parry in particular, which is probably the reason for Liverpool's latest about face.
  6. Excellent Lee, that's really helpful, thanks. I always hoped I was making a decent saving by buying a ST but never knew exactly how much. On the other end of the scale a lot of ST holders seem to believe they are being short changed. I would suggest that as a marketing tool it is very prominently marked up exactly how much each and every prospective ST holder will save when the new renewal packs go out.
  7. Yes, but the cost of membership is already absorbed into the cost of a season ticket and that particular discount is not available to ST holders. It just adds to the perception amongst ST holders they may be being unfairly treated. Don't get me wrong,I'm all for the cheap offers. However I also think that ST holders need to have a much clearer idea of exactly how much they're saving.
  8. Lee, (or anyone else) could you please tell me how many category A, B and C games there have been this year and the respective cost for JW upper central. I'll work it out and let everyone know how much I saved by getting a ST.
  9. That's not strictly true is it, if you join the adult membership scheme you get a fiver off the Villa and Boro or Wigan games as well.
  10. The Club insist this is certainly NOT the case although judging from JW's comments over the past few seasons at the Fans Forum it appears that this is a commonly held perception amongst ST holders. Without actually doing the maths I must admit that I am becoming increasingly concerned given that the average take is apparently only 13 quid per head AND most games appear to be available from 15 or 17 quid for adults. IMO the Club need to do a lot more to emphasise and quantify the financial advantage of a ST (assuming there is one) to dispel these sort of doubts.
  11. I've read the thread and it's basically 18 pages of b******s with only the occasional thoughtful post. I notice you got branded flippin' (or similar) ignorant for your own well argued contribution. What's all this ridiculous infighting between the HJC and the HSFC all about? Like Life of Bryan really. "We're not the People's Front, We're The People's Front of Judea." Desperately sad. It's all summed neatly by one contributor who says he couldn't give a flying one about what happened at the the Ibrox disaster, then in the next breath they get affronted if anyone gently suggests it might be more sensible to try to "move on" from the terrrible events of Hillsborough.
  12. Don't know about you bob, but I certainly manage to consume a couple (ahem) of sherbets if I watch an away game in the Pub. 10 quid/ 5 quid would be the right sort of level if we're genuinely trying to compete with the lure of the pub/box. It certainly isn't 30 quid/ 15 quid (90 quid for a family of 4) Unless Mum and Dad quaff a bottle of vintage champagne each at the Nag's Head!.
  13. Why is it either of the Clubs' fault? Did the people for whom this has seemingly become an all consuming obsession not notice the clash of dates when the fixture list was published?
  14. Interesting concept - but it would expose the Club to far more ridicule than you were worried about through the introduction of cheap ticket offers. Doubt it would work in practice, we may have a hard core of support but how many people would as a matter of principle agree to a 100% rise in price? Plus it would make the current pricing structure in JW upper central obsolete. Doubt I could justify over a grand for a seat up there every close season.
  15. You may be right but the word "apathy" surely also extends to someone who has made a conscious decision to move to a location from where they will no longer be able to attend future games. Not a criticism per se, just a fact. It's odd how the most vociferous critics of the attendances / Blackburn Public(apart from SG ) are generally the ones who are not actually in the position where they have to make a choice as to whether to shell out season ticket money and/or make the effort to attend a game which is invariably televised anyway. It's the easiest thing in the world to sit back and criticise when it doesn't directly concern you.
  16. I thought the fee for a "normal" Sky game was in the 600-700k region. It's less for a PPV but I thought it was quite a bit more than 160k.
  17. So Liverpool fans are boycotting the game. Boo Hoo. What a shame. Heaven sent opportunity to restrict their allocation to one quarter of the Darwen End, reduce prices to a level that competes with watching it in the Pub and start the novel concept of trying to fill the ground with BLACKBURN fans for a big game. But as someone else said, we probably wouln't be able to see beyond the short term loss of revenue.
  18. Looking at the fixtures again, Bolton should win at the weekend against Sunderland, as we will hopefully against Boro. They then have Boro away, we have Sunderland away. So the respective positions should be more or less unchanged at that stage. They then have a horrendous little run Man U (H) Liverpool (A) Chelsea (H) which may render their games in hand obsolete. If Arsenal beat Liverpool today however I can't see the Gooners failing to get 4th spot. All pointless speculation but hugely entertaining nonetheless.
  19. Well jim wasn't happy about playing well and getting beaten at Spurs, he should be absolutely ecstatic about this one!. I suppose the last two games show that the oldest saying in football "Luck balances itself out over the course of a season" is still one of the truest. Don't want to complain about individual performances after a 2-0 win and with us 5th in the table. Just hope and trust that they will put it right against Boro. We won't get lucky 2 weeks running. I would say however that MGP looked far from fit and I really don't know why we need to risk him like this with Peter, Bentley and Emerton to call on as alternatives. Savage was far and away our best player yesterday. After that I thought Pongolle showed up as well as anyone. How it can be said that Dickov looked better on the basis of 8 minutes action (and touching the ball maybe twice) is mystifying. Bellamy was starved of service and therefore generally quiet but showed his class by coming up with the goods yet again. Onwards and upwards.
  20. Very doubtful, the 22,000 attendance (which was excellent in the context of this season) probably had very little to do with the Spurs game but much more to do with the quid a kid scheme. I reckon it put 4,000 on the gate yesterday.
  21. All to play for now. Chelsea 2 Spuds 1. (In injury time)
  22. Chelsea 2 Spuds 1! Fantastic result for Rovers. Chelsea were all over Spuds first half and scored through Essien on 13 mins. Spuds never had a kick until Jenas scored an undeserved equaliser a minute before half time. In the second half it was a different story. Chelsea were sluggish and Jenas actually missed the best chance of the half when clean through after 78 mins. he late introduction of Duff sparked some life into Chelsea and Drogba missed a glorious chance to seal the points on 90 minutes, striking the inside of the post, Robinson getting the faintest of touches. All looked lost for Chelsea in terms of the 3 points then in the second minute of 3 minutes injury time, Duff and Gallas swapped passes on the left, Gallas cut in and unleashed an unstoppable shot into the right hand corner of the net from 25 yards. GAME ON!
  23. Just noticed as well that Spuds play Chelsea and Arsenal play Liverpool this weekend. Perhaps all bets should be put on hold for seven days? Although it would be typical Rovers for Chelsea to beat Spuds and we then fail to beat Villa in the 5.15 game.
