The Summer Transfer Window (Press Submit)
Andy replied to RoversClitheroe's topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
Agree with the point that Waggott needs to put his big boy pants on and front up to the media (well, the fans). Tell us what is going on. What we should expect in the transfer window; set some expectations. Why all of the backroom changes, including Rudy's role. It's the absolute basic level of leadership. -

You can add Martin Dahlin to that list as well. Should have been a cracking player for us, but for back injuries. -
Last few kits I've bought have been via DHGate - take a couple of weeks to come (from China), but the quality is incredible. Not bought Rovers kits, but a few for my lad (PSG, Al Nasr, Atletico) and they're perfect replicas and around the £12-£15 mark.

v Accrington Stanley (a) - Friendly 6/7/24

That kit is nice, in fairness. Planned on going to this, but my lad had an away game and the times didn't work. It's only ever a fitness exercise at this stage of pre season, but a win's a win. -

Yeah, I'd agree with that. I thought Palmer made a big difference when he came on and should start the next game. Saka played well and I was pleased to see him put the penalty away, after 2022. -

5 very, very good penalties. That's about the best thing I can say about tonight. Really dull, uninspiring...a Southgate performance, I guess. Have to be better. -
Certainly feels like we're heading towards an end game right now. Downscaling of the women's team, selling off assets from the men's team and not investing in new players, staff leaving with quite clear messages as to why, novices being hired in key backroom staff positions, etc.

No, not much at all recently - other than any transfer activity is likely to be late in the window, mostly due to the Euros and then the usual post-tournament scramble. Not heard any names of who we'd be looking at, but I'm setting my standards at rock bottom - couple of frees and loans. -

The blatant downscaling of the club has been accelerated. Wait until the window shuts, we've sold the last of the saleable assets and are passing off promising Academy kids like Tyjon as viable first team players. Roll on August... -

You can only assume there wasn't a buyer for Pears. But if getting rid of one of them means a proper number 1 comes in, it's not bad news. However, if we've learned anything in the last 13 years, it'll still be Calamity Pears as number one and Nick Michalski deputising this season... -

This. Embarrassing to be celebrating that. -

Honestly, feel a bit bad for Slovakia. We don't deserve to be 2-1 up, absolute horse crap. -
The info I had was that the third kit was pink with a roadmap effect - if the mockups aren't right, I'd expect them to be very close.

Poveda and Khadra in the Sheffield home game were incredible - they tore Sheffield to pieces. Sadly it was one game in that season / half-season. Lad has talent, but he's either made of glass or he doesn't look after his body well enough. Either way, we can't afford to take that risk. -
John Eustace - our head coach
Andy replied to chaddyrovers's topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
So his claim to being the right man for the Rovers job is 6 months of managerial experience in Australia and 'but I even played for them!'. What a deluded, privileged nob. Comparing himself to JDT 🤣 -

You say that like it's a negative. Best season in my lifetime of supporting the club - anything to bring back memories of that season is a positive for me. -

I've not changed my mind that Telalovic will become a decent player - he has some of the raw attributes, including some that are very difficult to teach (ie scoring). Was unlucky not to score a few times in the short run he had under JDT (Hull away springs to mind). I think his ceiling is a lot higher than Sam Gallagher, at the very least. -

Agreed, but not a very good team. We made them look better than they are tonight. -

Result is fine, performance was horrible. Denmark are not a very good team, but they should have beaten us tonight. Tactically inept, selection woeful. Gordon and Palmer should have played tonight - and, all Rovers bias included - Wharton would have been a much preferable option to Gallagher. Things won't get better until Southgate pisses off. -

It was the usual Southgate routine, wasn't it? Play quite well, score and then absolutely panic. Bring on players like Gallagher (formerly Henderson), fingers in the ears and hope for the best. That second half was crying out for Wharton in the middle and Eze/Gordon down the left. A win is a win, but we'll need to be better than that. -
I see that he's 70 this month, so he won't be far off either way. What was slightly interesting is that he's an active director of another company, run by Waggott and his wife. Had a quick scoot around, but couldn't find anything about the services or what the company actually does: https://find-and-update.company-information.service.gov.uk/officers/FKc4o-maeIjThZF3QPcISHHYkS4/appointments

I'd like to see the back of SW as much as anyone, but the idea of dropping a complete novice into the role...? If that did happen, surely it'd be CEO in title only, with the real power/influence being with others. That said, that's probably the case now.

There were a surprising amount (ie more than 1) of people on here who wanted Pears to stay as number 1 when TK was fit again. They were batshit crazy then as they are now, with all hindsight and whatnot. Pears is not good enough; we need a proper GK or we might as well write this season off before it starts.
