  1. Agents will always make enquiries, ultimately their job is to get the best deal for their client, which in most cases means the highest salary. Once they found out Team X and Y would offer £20k or whatever, we'll have not been in the running if we weren't able to get anywhere near the same figure.
  2. As has been noted already - Hyam played all league games last season. You'd be happy for him to go, leaving Carter and Wharton as our only senior CBs? I'd rather keep Hyam and get a transfer fee at some point.
  3. I'd be surprised if Cantwell is on 'only' 14k. One of the ladies team mentioned, when discussing the budget and pay the girls were getting, that a men's team player was supposedly on 20k a week
  4. I'm theory yes, but we've quickly learnt transfer income isn't reinvested so we'll be up the creek
  5. Fair contract is all context. He might be on 8k, we might have offered 12k - it's been rumoured Cantwell is on 20k. He might want that but we can't afford it - not with trying to get down the income to wages ratio. And even if they could match at 20k - Boro might be offering 25k. Essentially once other established Championship teams become interested, we cannot compete financially.
  6. Jackson has tweeted that VI sounds resigned to Brittain going
  7. Not sure that's the case, he confirmed we offered a new contract to try and convince him to stay
  8. Salgado was a huge worry for his first couple of months. Thankfully he and the team adapted and he didn't put a blotch on his career. #HeCameFromRealMadrid #HeDidntCostAQuid
  9. Absolutely people have the right to make judgement on signings. Similarly, people would do well to remember some signings have completely flipped the initial judgement, or even judgement after 1 season. Szmods, Brittain, Bezza....far from great first seasons.
  10. Obligatory YouTube highlights with the caveat of being a few years old. Looks to have good pace and able to get his head up to pick out crosses.
  11. For this alone, I'm thankful of what Broughton did. Yes there were some almighty fuck ups under his watch, but I doubt directly by him, but for that tenure we actually saw some future stability through long term planning.
  12. I'd say the relation is easy to see, but each to their own view.
  13. It literally tells you it's based on the coat of arms for the town
  14. Unless they've changed approach, history shows this isn't true - not unless their valuation is reached. There's countless posts about players who left for free under their tenure when offers were widely reported to have been received.
  15. No it meant those out of contract on the 30th - Dolan, batth, weimann - not those with a year to go.
  16. Noticed the teaser for our story was next to a Sunderland one. Perhaps they can have our last CEO, he'll buy-lease them a brand-as-new coach then realise that's not what the issue is.
  17. On the other hand, Bain was in charge when Sunderland were sold so....🤞
  18. Hardly a ringing endorsement to be compared to David Brent... https://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/news/whats-happened-former-sunderland-chief-21780987
  19. It'd be nice to find a squad full of Santi Carola's - playing for minimum contract at his first club, just got them promoted back to La Liga.
  20. By the same logic, Travis and Brittain won't be sold in this window as they're in the marketing. Yet most would not be surprised if at least one of them is gone by September.
  21. Ugh...if it's going to be boring, it needs to be without a sponsor. Disappointing.
  22. Until it suits their narrative. And this isn't me saying he is or isn't reliable or that I do or do not support the regime, just very much agreeing with your point that people slate new sources until the article aligns to their view.
  23. Possibly, like the old McEwan or more recent crown/probiz(!!!) ones. Generally I don't like the panel as to me it unbalances the half shirt, but the contrast on that image works well
  24. Unless the solicitors have agreed to a very small logo and it will be an asymmetric design, don't think it will be - you wouldnt see half of their name.
  25. Along with the photoshoot for the new signing, this surely confirms the shade of blue on the home shirt. I quite like it.
