As a transfer window closes I always think are we looking theoretically stronger or weaker now than before. Theoretically, as most folk (myself included) haven’t heard of any the players we sign much less seen them play. A keeper could turn out to be a kaminski or a wahlstead, could have a Chris brown or a Szmodics, etc. Statistically far more likely to be on the shit end of the scale. With what’s come in 2 6 months deals of codgers and iffy loans vs who's left. We are definitely looking weaker.

It’s like going out for a meal. We know we’re not in the market for Michelin star establishments or even a nice gastropub. I think most people would like to picture transfer deadline day as like the Wall Street trading floor with half a dozen phones on the go. I picture it as swag and the egg playing dominos giving the fax machine an occasional tap.

It really is. My mate says we’re the instagram of football. Im not massively up on the differences between all the social media platforms but I gather that’s the one where folk portray a glorified life that bares no resemblance to reality.
