  1. As appalling as the keeper has been I also think he’s got away with a few as well because strikers have switched off at a bread and butter catch only for him to drop it. Every striker worth his salt will be laser focused on him off every cross and ball in to the box now.
  2. No idea what to expect this evening. Could be 0-4, 4-0, 4-4, 0-0 and anything in between. Relieved to 2 have centre halves having won the appeal. Dolan played v well vs Norwich but the other 99% of time he’s like a headless chicken. Keeper one of the worst ever had in my lifetime only surpassed by Pears/Walton.
  3. These 2 keepers simply cannot play again We need a journeyman pro/early 30’s or someone who has slipped down the order in the prem and wants a game.
  4. Considering A Wharton has loftier ambitions than little old rovers. He needs to up his general effort by loads and needs to stop giving the ball away. He seems to be a YouTube highlights reel sort of player.
  5. That’s a fairly limp defence of the World Cup. I genuinely can’t think of any reason why. The one minor and I do mean minor thing the 100 has going for it is there’s probably the right number of teams in terms of condensing quality. Nope the morons at the ECB want to expand it. EXPAND IT. Couldn’t make it up. How about 18 teams playing 40 extra deliveries as one tournament. Then those same players play 50 overs cricket. Revolutionary.
  6. This lad and pears up there with the 2 worst keepers had at the club. Scary it’s at the same time.
  7. https://www.theguardian.com/sport/2023/oct/26/england-sri-lanka-cricket-world-cup-match-report That article is brutal but for good reason. I hope we crash and burn if it kills the 100 and ideally livi’s England career too. I hate disliking a lancs player but I really find it hard to find any positives to him. Buttler I like, never expected him to play much for us, but a captain he is not.
  8. All good things come to an end. A tired and old side this England team. Wiley, wood, Woakes, Malan, root all done. Livingston and Curran not good enough. Topley finished. 32, so won’t play next WC. Ali and Deirdre also pretty much done.
  9. I’m not sure what the biggest ever winning margin is in an odi but this might be it the way it’s going.
  10. Who would have thought it - don’t play any 50 over cricket domestically and then fail to make a dint on a 50 over international competition. Powder puff bowling attack acknowledged. In a way hope England lose this. They came into this woefully underprepared due to the domestic farce. Earlier the exit the better if it brings sense into the ECB thinking. Plus folk can start to see Buttler isn’t the superhero everyone thinks particularly as a captain. Same goes for livi. I appreciate not playing but he’s got a tournament average of about 10. An average of less than 30 over the last couple of years and only as, ahem, “high” because of that one game vs New Zealand in the summer he was the only one who scored runs. Pimping himself out round the world playing baseball has made him a significantly worse player than before. Richer though.
  11. I’m tempted to say hopefully this is the beginning of end but it never is. They’re like the terminator just when you riddle it with bullets, think you’ve killed it with a load of liquid nitrogen back it come. The best outcome is maybe some comic relief with a hastily cobbled together jibberish from swag.
  12. Funny you should mention that. Even my mum who knows little about football described her own grandsons penalty a fortnight ago as a Beamo. I knew what she meant though - 3 foot over the crossbar. 🙈
  13. 100%. He couldn’t wish to have a more supportive crowd than he did at rovers. I think a lot of the support was born out of apathy. But for a player who cost £7 million and the ramifications that came with it putting in the type of performances he did for a good couple of years he’d have got absolute dogs at most clubs in the top 2 divisions.
  14. This was in response to him starting at home. A couple of - and the last comments. A disaster. One's saying there are junkies with more quality and you'll find them behind the stadium. Another one is saying he's the worst striker in the club's history. He’s not even had a shot on target in the six league matches he's played in. He also got booed off last weekend. Not going well for him unfortunately. To be fair at ewood other than 6 amazing months he was a range of abysmal to average, mainly abysmal. So this is by no means a shock. He’ll be back at Stoke or somewhere next season
  15. Seeing his name I googled Brereton before. He’s played in 10 games this season domestically, in Europe and internationally. 0 goals. 😬. Some have been off the bench to be fair and hasn’t lasted 90 in many but not great reading for the lad. Can’t say I’m surprised in the slightest but I did hope he’d do better.
  16. Dharamsala has a backdrop to rival any cricket ground in the world but the outfield looks like a cabbage patch.
  17. The bcci must be Burnley fans because they’ve added a serious multiplier to that figure. Didn’t look more than a few thousand to me.
  18. Not watched a lot of this World Cup although I saw the saffas weren’t playing games with 49 ball century from Markam. Only watched the nz highlights. We were battered to be fair but can’t believe how few fans were there for effectively the opening ceremony. Indian cricket fans most passionate in the world. Do me a favour. They’re passionate about India and India battling and even more specific batsmen but nothing else. I appreciate bigger stadiums but there is a billion of them and no one was there. In a World Cup outside of Durham most grounds here would be minimum 90% full for most fixtures.

  20. The yanks have a player called Patrick Cantlay whose caddy during the Ryder cup was Joe lacava. A story broke that Cantlay believed the players should be paid to participate in the Ryder Cup and to effectively represent their country which allegedly caused a rift within the American team. Due to his frustration at not being paid the story goes he refused to wear a team cap during the Saturday foursomes and also refused to attend the gala dinner earlier in the week along with his friend Xander Schauffele. So every time cantlay went past the crowd, the fans were waving their caps at him chanting stuff like “Europe’s on fire, Patrick cantlay wants his fiver. Europe’s on fire, Patrick cantlay wants his fiver. Na na na na na.” Bit of old fashioned British terrace humour. On the final hole of the fourballs cantlay sunk a good putt which meant mcilroy would have to sink another big putt to avoid defeat. After cantlays putt lacava and the rest of the usa team were waving their hats which was a quite amusing retort. Mcilroy politely asked lacava to move aside from his line of vision whilst he’s still kept waving his hat going ott. He stood there and didn’t move for a good while and continued to wave the hat chirping away at anyone who’d listen like some mid afternoon drunk. This pissed mcilroy off and it continued onto the car park. In the aftermath another amusing little ditty was sung to lacava on the first tee to the tune of cranberries-zombie. He’s in your head, he’s in your head. He’s in your head, he’s in your head. Rooory, Rooory, Rooory, ry, ry. That also tickled me. If my grandad was still alive. He’d be appalled at what the Ryder Cup has become. But I love it
  21. Looking at some of these new lads it brings greg the eggs judgment into question. These suits in the wings cannot be absolved from blame. I know folk get giddy at the mere sight of a human being signing a contract but on balance under the new structure baring a couple it’s been piss poor recruitment from what I’ve seen.
