  1. Although unlikely, he needs to pull a win out today. The Birmingham result/performance drained anything remotely positive from the Stoke victory.

Needs to get us going, we desperately need points on the board.

Huddersfield have appointed a new gaffer and the write up I read about him, he seemed a decent appointment.

I'd put Siggy in the useless bracket. I know he's got a few goals to his name but he hides out on the wing where he offers no attacking threat and absolutely hates the physical stuff. I'll never forget the game at Millwall where he ran around whingeing to the ref about being elbowed for about an hour before Tomasson dragged him off.

And his running style is like a chicken with a banger (ne for the old folks) up his derriere. Makes me laugh

Was just about to write the same thing. Definitely into the poor bracket. After his initial impact he's done absolutely naff all for a while now.

Here's the article itself: https://www.lancashiretelegraph.co.uk/sport/24119456.latest-gregg-broughtons-blackburn-rovers-future/, as we should all support local journalism, etc etc...

I listened to it while churning through some boring work in the late evening, so possible I mixed up the details there too!

Nar, my memory is abysmal. There is a good chance I've remembered incorrectly.

It was more than 5 minutes ago, so chances are I don't remember it correctly at all.

Didn't someone say at one point that former head of commercial Paul Fielder's "plan" was to allow the Riverside to fall into disrepair  in the hope that it would be condemned and  that the Council would offer a grant towards replacement?

With people like him and Waggott running the Club what hope have we got? I don't know where we find them

Sounds like a good way to end up in prison. Any potential claims against the club through injury (or worse) due to negligence of maintenance would outweigh any grant given by the council, you would think.

Doesn't surprise me with the clowns we've had in senior positions in the psst tbh.

A few tidbits from Elliot on that podcast. I think he's already written some of this, but more may be coming in future articles:

    - Who knows what story/side to believe, but he says he had an 'off-the-record' chat with GB. Elliot rubbishes the story of the initial McGuire deal being cancelled midflight, although reiterates Venky's did suddenly pull the funding for the deal. Says the initial deal was for ~£2.5m*. When Venky's pulled the plug, McGuire flew over anyway to negotiate with Sheff Wed. They couldn't come to an agreement, so his agent came back to GB about a loan-to-buy, with the buy cost increasing to ~£3.5m*.

*I'm probably misremembering the exact figures. Main point is his sources (probably Rovers-linked) are insisting quotes of up to $7.5m are way off.

    - GB is staying, at least for the short-term, and was actively chatting with Eustace before/during/after the Stoke game. He'll be speaking to the media about the transfer window during/after the international break in March as he wants to give Eustace some breathing space first. Not sure if SW will speak.

    - Elliot didn't seem 100% sure, but he's under the impression Eustuce is a SW pick. Interestingly, he also suggests GB wasn't the one who picked out JDT (so maybe SW made the first contact with JDT?), but GB had a role in bringing him in/finalising it.

I'm probably remembering it wrong but I thought GB said that the club/SW had a shortlist of managers or maybe even interviewed some of them and then he came in, saw the list (rubbished it basically) and put JDT's name forward.

I'm sure he said or heavily implied that he was the man to bring JDT to the club in one of his interviews.

  6. Literally impossible to predict. Jury is obviously out on Eustace and he's only been here 5 minutes but we have to put in an improved performance from yesterday. Not just from the players but the manager needs to sort out these tactics as we can't just continously lump it forward to no one (or Gallagher to lose the aerial battle)

Can stick with a back 3 if he wants to, bring Fleck in (if fit) move JRC to RWB. Options are limited because recruitment is abysmal.

I didn’t see the first half as I was working so can’t comment on that. But from what I did see of the second half it looked like the ball was a hot potato that our players just wanted to get rid of as soon as possible, most of the time hoofing it aimlessly down field with their first touch, which either went straight to their defenders or towards Gally who lost every single header he went up for -  so same result 🤷‍♂️
Szmodics looked thoroughly pissed off as he watched the ball sail over his head time and time again.

    Yeah, it was awful.

I just answered your question dude. Nothing more. 🤷‍♂️

We’ve suddenly gone into the complete opposite of what we were under JDT - from a ‘keep possession at all costs’ team to one that just aimlessly boots the ball away as soon as we get it.

And whilst there were plenty on here (and loads more sat around me at Ewood) rejoicing on Saturday that “finally we’ve got rid of that passing out from the back crap”, I was never convinced that just giving the opposition CBs the ball at every opportunity was a sustainable approach and so it transpired tonight as Birmingham attacked us at will and could (and probably should) have scored 5 or 6.

I’d love to see the stats from halftime up until the goal - I’d be amazed if we had more than about 10% possession - and most of that was just whilst waiting for Pears to take the goal kick!! However, it turns out that it’s actually pretty hard to score when you don’t have the ball!

Hopefully this isn’t actually how the new manager wants us to play and there will be an actual game plan going forward, because if not then we will go down with barely a whimper

We had 43% possession in the first half (according to a Rovers account on Twitter)

Brittains comments in press rather telling.

As @glen9mullan mentioned (I think) JDT had lost the dressing room sadly.

I think JDT was a fantastic manager, but he had flaws in terms of he was stubborn in how he wanted to play, whereas in the Championship where there is less money, you need to adapt to the players and situation you are in.

Agreed. Just read that interview with Brittain. Certainly seems like the players weren't 100% on board with what JDT wanted them to do.
