BBC commentator tonight..... "Man Utd have ONLY won 4 trophies in the 10 or so seasons since Ferguson retired". Jim Ratcliffe in a recent interview: "The past 11 years have been agony" Don't you just love the entitled, self-serving elite?

The Aynsley Pears depreciation thread.
jim mk2 replied to Neal's topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
Pears is improving without a doubt and is streets ahead of the Swedish lad who is one of the main reasons we are in relegation trouble. He still only 25 - young for a goalkeeper, and his game is beginning to mature. I'd like to see him more dominant in the 6-yard box from crosses and corners - several times last night he should have come out to catch or punch the ball away but stayed on his line. -
We are going down (the pessimism thread)

Really? One good game in the Cup and we're now looking at the top 8?? The players put in a massive shift last night but the question has to be asked why they didn't do that in the league (my last game at Birmingham was awful) and whether they can repeat it. Last night will have taken its toll. All the games are difficult from now on - starting at Swansea -
Mmm, not sure about that He said some nice things about Rovers at the start but for the rest of the time his comments were from a Newcastle viewpoint. I know he's a Newcastle fan etc etc etc but he's paid very handsomely - about £450,000 a year (yes, really) by the BBC to provide insight and analysis and that requires objectivity - not how "we" aren't playing well or "we" should have scored at least three. Gary ("shame Blackburn went down" - 1999) Lineker doesn't like us because we had the temerity to try to buy him years ago - which he regarded as an insult. He just about passed muster last night but still made a snide remark about the game at half-time after what I thought was an enthralling first half

This chimes with an article in the Times recently about conversation overheard among players in dressing rooms around the counties. They want to play where the money is: which is franchise cricket here and abroad. Many aren't interested in playing Test match cricket for England and county cricket is seen as a unrewarding chore. It's also reinforced by comments such as this on the BBC website today after the fourth India Test: "Who cares about the result - pro sport is there to entertain and this England team are awesome. As far as this series goes; I'd much rather see England lose an exciting series like this than win a borefest any day". Read that again, they don't care about England losing: the playstation, Netflix generation only wants instant cricket entertainment.

I'll believe it when I see it. Assuming there are possibly 100s of Newcastle infiltrators spread around the ground it will require a big police and stewarding operation to weed them out and get them out of the ground. Will Waggott pay for that and are they up to the job anyway. My guess is nothing or very little will be done
