  1. BBC commentator tonight..... "Man Utd have ONLY won 4 trophies in the 10 or so seasons since Ferguson retired". Jim Ratcliffe in a recent interview: "The past 11 years have been agony" Don't you just love the entitled, self-serving elite?
  2. Pears is improving without a doubt and is streets ahead of the Swedish lad who is one of the main reasons we are in relegation trouble. He still only 25 - young for a goalkeeper, and his game is beginning to mature. I'd like to see him more dominant in the 6-yard box from crosses and corners - several times last night he should have come out to catch or punch the ball away but stayed on his line.
  3. Really? One good game in the Cup and we're now looking at the top 8?? The players put in a massive shift last night but the question has to be asked why they didn't do that in the league (my last game at Birmingham was awful) and whether they can repeat it. Last night will have taken its toll. All the games are difficult from now on - starting at Swansea
  4. Mmm, not sure about that He said some nice things about Rovers at the start but for the rest of the time his comments were from a Newcastle viewpoint. I know he's a Newcastle fan etc etc etc but he's paid very handsomely - about £450,000 a year (yes, really) by the BBC to provide insight and analysis and that requires objectivity - not how "we" aren't playing well or "we" should have scored at least three. Gary ("shame Blackburn went down" - 1999) Lineker doesn't like us because we had the temerity to try to buy him years ago - which he regarded as an insult. He just about passed muster last night but still made a snide remark about the game at half-time after what I thought was an enthralling first half
  5. He's a pundit, paid a huge salary by the BBC to give insight into football, not be a superfan waving his Newcastle scarf. He was unprofessional and it was all the more galling he was so open about it at the club where he made his name. And he called us Blackburn too.
  6. Massive congratulation to Eustace for getting the team to compete with and match a top Premier League team for 120 minutes. Gives alot of hope for the future
  7. Out of respect for the club he used to play for and made his name, and our fans
  8. Brilliant effort by Rovers, could easily have won in normal time Shearer gone down in my estimation tonight - he should have been more neutral for this game
  9. Rovers have given a great account of themselves through sheer hard work - exceeded expectations.
  10. Huge gulf between the clubs. There's some top quality Prem players out there tonight against some very ordinary Championship squad players.
  11. You have to laugh watching Siggy pretending to jump for headers against their centre halves
  12. Yes, it didn't really work. It had to be big numbers or not at all
  13. Lineker the wet blanket rubbishing the game but that was a pretty good half
  14. Gallagher is weak and soft as a kitten who'd get hurt by a passing butterfly
  15. Gallagher's got concrete in his boots as usual. But he's such a gentleman
  16. Danny Murphy talking about Rovers as if he's some sort of expert really grates. Stole a living at Ewood
  17. Waggott's forgotten to put 10p in the turnstiles meter
  18. City match was in 1969? I woz there We're all celebrating a 20k plus crowd tonight but it seems a long way from the end of the 2011-12 season when I remember in particular for personal reasons an end of season game against lowly Charlton Athletic in front of about 27k.
  19. You need to do some background reading on the hooligan problems in the 1970s and 1980s Football is tribal here, and animosities run deep.
  20. This chimes with an article in the Times recently about conversation overheard among players in dressing rooms around the counties. They want to play where the money is: which is franchise cricket here and abroad. Many aren't interested in playing Test match cricket for England and county cricket is seen as a unrewarding chore. It's also reinforced by comments such as this on the BBC website today after the fourth India Test: "Who cares about the result - pro sport is there to entertain and this England team are awesome. As far as this series goes; I'd much rather see England lose an exciting series like this than win a borefest any day". Read that again, they don't care about England losing: the playstation, Netflix generation only wants instant cricket entertainment.
  21. I'll believe it when I see it. Assuming there are possibly 100s of Newcastle infiltrators spread around the ground it will require a big police and stewarding operation to weed them out and get them out of the ground. Will Waggott pay for that and are they up to the job anyway. My guess is nothing or very little will be done
