  1. Not bothered if England win or not. It's 20-20, I don't take it seriously But any humiliation of that lot is welcome. I hope Hazlewood enjoys his journey home
  2. Aussie Aussie Aussie! Out out out! Best and funniest sporting event in a long time
  3. You can’t imagine England equalising like that and getting through against the odds in the dying seconds. Their players have the nous that ours don’t. Croatia were in the England role tonight - naive and lacking the know how to see the game out
  4. Go back to the 1960s - 1990s and many of Britain's best players were Scots so why aren't they producing top class players now? Any Scots in the house?
  5. Robertson is better than any left back we have in Germany
  6. They don’t like us and we don’t like them but you have to say Scotland were denied a definite penalty. Grant Hanley had a good game
  7. Same with the best Rovers team I ever saw - Jack Marshall and a trainer. And that was it. Now we have directors of football, attacking, defending, free-kicks corner kicks, penalty kicks, throw-ins etc etc - and the result is dull, over-coached football. Matt Busby had it right - he just told his players to "go out and play"....because good players don't need instructions
  8. If the Kane rumours are true it means Southgate and his coaches have lost the trust of the players and they will no longer take any notice of what they're saying or doing. It means sense really because the players looked lost in those first 2 matches. All in all, England does not appear to be a happy camp
  9. How many English managers have won the Champions League? How many English managers have won the Premier League? In cricket, the English coaches in recent years have been abysmal The evidence is clear - we don't breed good, successful coaches
  10. Silverwood and Moores were disasters. Foreigners understand the game better - football and cricket
  11. Howe is the best of a poor English bunch. He must be odds-on to replace Southgate because he's bland and speaks nicely and isn't controversial - perfect for the FA but another likely to fail. Klopp would be the best choice of course but how would the idiot England supporters who sing Ten German Bombers cope?
  12. ....... but not when it comes to cricket. Explain
  13. …. But not when it comes to cricket. What’s the difference Alf?
  14. Brendon McCullum, and the person who doesn't want Klopp as England football manager because he's German, is a big supporter of "Baz ball". England cricket has had a number of foreign coaches in recent years - Fletcher, Flower, Bayliss - and they've all been very good, much better than the English ones. I'd be very pleased to see the likes of Klopp as England football manager. Foreign coaches understand the game much better than ours and it's no coincidence that some of the most successful managers/coaches in the Premier League have not been from these shores.
  15. The Alf Garnetts of this world also forget England cricket - Colin Cowdrey, born in India; Ted Dexter - born in Italy; Ben Stokes - born Christchurch, NZ, and countless others.
  16. Southgate showed his limitations in the last Euro final against Italy, a game England should never have lost after going a goal up in front of their home crowd in their own national stadium when he didn't have a clue how to change the game or counter a limited but motivated Italy team and a tactically astute manager. Six months later Italy failed to quality for the World Cup when England again failed to get past a quality opponent. Southgate should have been replaced then.
  17. A German as England manager. Good suggestion but almost certain to blow a fuse in the tiny minds of the fans who sing the Ten Bombers song
  18. There’s a lack of quality in some positions and you can argue about selections and tactics but worst for me is that the players look tired and lethargic and the team plays at half pace. It’s all so dull and predictable. If we continue like this England will go out in the first knock out game.
  19. Southgate appears to be is a good man-manager and understands people but like most English coaches he's poor tactically and he doesn't appear to understand the game that well - certainly not like foreign coaches. There's a reason why the Premier League is dominated by foreign coaches and you imagine a few of them will have been perplexed by Southgate's performance tonight
  20. Kane played the old pro tonight, particularly in the second half, winning fouls and free kicks all over the pitch and taking the pressure off. As for Conor Gallagher international footballer. Really? You need special players to win tournaments which makes the decision to leave Grealish at home difficult to understand
  21. That was hard to watch. On that performance the likes of Germany and Spain and France haven’t much to beat
  22. There’s an awful lot of water carriers in this England team.
  23. Dull, one-paced football. Saka and Bellingham very good players, but the rest ordinary to say the least. Foden the biggest disappointment, hardly put a foot right
  24. England's left flank including Trippier will be the main weakness this tournament. The best teams will exploit it Still think not taking Grealish was a huge mistake.
  25. Not in your lifetime probably. Not that long ago for me
