  1. Hate to be a party pooper but amid the euphoria of an unexpected point we do have to ask questions about the lack of quality up front and in midfield. Has there ever been a Rovers side that struggled to look threatening or score goals as much as this one?
  2. Tough to watch, ride our luck at times but deserved point for a hard working defensive performance.
  3. Leonard has to get involved, help to relieve the pressure
  4. This is a team based on rock solid defence. That works some of the time but, as stated above, when it doesn't and Leeds score where is the Rovers goal coming from?
  5. Good defending but can we keep that up for another 45 minutes? No attacking threat.
  6. Just missed another chance to get a cross in His hair do is very good I have to admit
  7. Mighty Oxford winning at Millwall - who beat us not long ago
  8. Hedges and Weimann starting. That's an odd team - this could be messy
  9. Has he been linked to us (seriously) because otherwise there's little point in this discussion.
  10. I remember an early 1980s (I think it was), end of season game against Chelsea, crowd less than 5,000 IIRC, awful game, the Chelsea hooligans stormed the Blackburn End, the club and football itself felt like it was dying.
  11. So what? That doesn't qualify him to be a good manager I note Plymouth have won just 4 matches this season - one of them against Rovers Why is this not surprising?
  12. Sir Alf - trophy winner Sir Gareth - serial trophy loser Failure rewarded Go figure, as they say in the USA
  13. Is one better than the other? Neither good enough for the Championship in my view. Gestede having any say on transfers is a worry.
  14. Bow locks. The local ManU/Liverpool/etc “fans” are nothing more than than glory hunters. Plastic fans who never attend and watch football only on TV and support them because they’re on TV and they’re “successful” I remember in the 1960s and 70s coachloads heading off to Old Trafford from Blackburn boulevard on a Saturday morning. It annoyed me then and annoys me now. One of our neighbours is a ManU “fan”. I can’t discuss football with him because to me he’s not a true fan. He’s a traitor to his town in my eyes. If you live in east Lancashire and / or were brought up in the area you should be Rovers, Burnley or Stanley. And that’s it.
  15. The 6-match winning run was clearly an aberration and if you believe that everything reverts to the mean it is quite likely that we are now in the middle of a non winning sequence of matches. If we’re honest thecteam has outperformed to date. It’s higher than it should be given we don’t have any decent forwards and generally lack quality. It’s a mid table team at best and that’s where I think we’ll end up
  16. Good old Rovers. Always willing to help struggling clubs
  17. Sultans of Swing - Dire Straits
  18. We Gotta Get Out of This Place - The Animals
  19. Such a limited squad, so little quality. Without reinforcements (highly unlikely) you have to think we’ll finish up somewhere in mid table
  20. He’d be ok at amateur level. The semi-pro North West Counties league is too high for him though
  21. It’s certainly not “maintenance” through overuse.
  22. They’re not true wingers in that case A proper winger beats his man on the outside and bangs a good cross in for a big centre forward - classic English football attacking play. For Rovers Ripley and Wilcox were classic examples and going back further Wagstaff and Harrison were others. In the 1960s just about every team had players like these. The modern examples you quote aren’t true wingers to my mind - they’re wide attacking forwards.
