The England Team - all the news, views…
jim mk2 replied to roverandout's topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
Have to say it’s a staggering appointment. It doesn’t bother me personally England now have a German manager but there will be considerable opposition from a large percentage of fans who oppose having any foreign manager and the fact a German is in charge with all the history involved will cause many to blow a fuse. Talking of which where’s Chaddy? -

Yep, Coventry did it for their 1st goal on Tuesday night. So simple Rovers couldn't defend it

I agree the Baath - Hyam partnership needs to be axed. They can't defend simple crosses - witness Coventry's 1st goal in midweek. Baath no world beater but I'd drop Hyam, he's weak physically and always has a mistake in him. A very average defender Carter needs to be moved to centre back and Brittain brought back. Beck straight in for Pickering There's alot riding on Cantwell this season as he's just about the only creative player we have apart from JRC. I'd bring back JRC, we need more skill in this team If Sigurdsoon is the answer I don't know what the question is, and the Japanese lad looks lost up front on his own. In truth, we needed to sign a proven Championship striker in the summer -
Right, I've seen enough of this player now and - this is not going to be a popular opinion - but I do not think he is any better than Sam Gallagher He's more physical certainly - though Coventry's defenders gave him short shrift - but his first touch is abysmal, his link-up play poor, he can't shoot properly because he usually scuffs the ball, and his lack of instinct is such he offers virtually zero threat in front of goal Don't get me wrong - Gallagher drove me to distraction but I don't see this guy as un upgrade. He's our only centre forward and he's supposed to lead the lead the line and score goals but, let's be honest, he's not up to Championship standard and I think we've got another dud.

OK, let's talk Tyrhys Dolan Why on earth was he picked for today's game? I've never seen such a wretched performance by an individual player as he served up at the Ricoh, so what does he have to do to get dropped?

What a difference a week makes From eyeing top spot to looking down the league and seeing how far we might fall Two pathetic performances and a reality check - this is not a top 6 squad by any stretch of the imagination. And the manager needs to explain why he largely stuck with the team that was an absolute disgrace at Coventry. If I were manager Dolan would never play for me again Just had a text from a Coventry supporting friend. He thinks they'll be in a relegation battle this season. What does that say about us? -

You mean he’s so good no one can get near him or he’s so bad he shouldn’t be playing? -

Why didn’t Eustace change the team? At least 5 needed to be dropped. Dolan should not play for Rovers again after last Tuesday yet he’s in the starting line up. Why? Carter is and never will be a full back yet there he is again. Poor by thd manager -

After the defensive nightmare at Coventry I’m very surprised he hasn’t made changes. And I would have left the totally useless Dolan behind in Lancashire after his “performance” . Let’s see how it goes and hopefully stabilise the ship. 0-0 is fine -

After the Ricoh debacle that I had the misfortune to attend I’d be very happy with a point today. I wouldn’t be surprised at another heavy defeat though. Eustace needs to get back to the bunker mentality of the end of last season and stop the team conceding silly goals -
An amateur player would be banned from the game for what Milutin Osmajić did.

You're not the only one. I looked around me halfway through the second half at the Ricoh and it was a sea of faces stunned in disbelief at what we were witnessing. After a poor first half you thought there would be an improvement but Rovers got worse, started by Dolan's imbecilic run back towards his own goal The idiot wants a big pay rise by all accounts. If I were the manager I'd fine him and cut his wages after last night. He was dreadful - and that in a team that was dire from back to front for 95 agonising minutes -

I'm still in a grumpy mood after witnessing that inept display at the Ricoh. I've rarely seen Rovers fans stunned into silence and so many leave the ground early. This will be another defeat, for sure. 2-0 at best. -

It’s inexplicable why Rovers were so poor. Not one player played well. Soft first goal and ridiculous second, and zero reaction to both. We didn’t deserve to score and Coventry could have had 5. And another thing: why did some of the few fans remaining at the end clap the players? Embarrassing and bloody awful evening and now a long drive home. Fuming 😡 -

Sorry Mercer we don’t have “offensive” players in this country. It’s a US term . Attackers please I’d like to see a more attacking starting team too. Coventry’s confidence must be fairly low so the plan must be to hit them hard early and grab a couple of goals -

It’s not as easy as to use as if should be, and the software that drives it doesn’t seem stable. Basically it’s gives the appearance of being a poor, cheap site. The match worries me. Coventry have started the season badly and are due a win. And we haven’t lost. That’s not a good combination as we have a history of messing up matches we ought to win. Plus I’ve never seen Rovers beat Coventry home or away, going back to the infamous match at Ewood in 1967. My worst jinx team. There’s 3 of us going to the Ricoh. Hopefully the spell will be broken -

I was told categorically yesterday that ticket sales over the phone have ended. -

Some folk are missing the point. What they're saying is that they no longer sell tickets over the phone and tickets must be purchased online. In both cases the tickets are posted out For fans who cannot get to Ewood, or don't like using the internet, buying over the phone was easy and seamless - but is now not available because of the drive to go digital only. I cannot imagine they're saving much if any money by axing telephone sales - and people will still have to be employed to send out the tickets anyway. With a shrinking fanbase it doesn't make sense to me to reduce the number of ways in which fans can access tickets - but CEOs are paid £300,000 a year to make these decisions so you have to assume they know better -

Yes, Coventry’s decision apparently and probably part of the national dash to eliminate cash. The irony is last season I tried to pay on the gate with card but they said they took cash only - cue desperate dash by me to the nearest supermarket hole in the wall in order to make kickoff. Rovers decision not to sell tickets over the phone does not make sense for the reasons you stated. For me it was the most convenient way to buy away tickets and avoided having to use the clunky and often unusable rovers.co.uk website. I understand this digital drive but the club should still offer other ways of purchasing tickets and for those unhappy with the changes all it does is give people another reason not to attend matches. To me it’s just another example of poor management by the club
