  1. The Alf Garnetts of this world also forget England cricket - Colin Cowdrey, born in India; Ted Dexter - born in Italy; Ben Stokes - born Christchurch, NZ, and countless others.
  2. Southgate showed his limitations in the last Euro final against Italy, a game England should never have lost after going a goal up in front of their home crowd in their own national stadium when he didn't have a clue how to change the game or counter a limited but motivated Italy team and a tactically astute manager. Six months later Italy failed to quality for the World Cup when England again failed to get past a quality opponent. Southgate should have been replaced then.
  3. A German as England manager. Good suggestion but almost certain to blow a fuse in the tiny minds of the fans who sing the Ten Bombers song
  4. There’s a lack of quality in some positions and you can argue about selections and tactics but worst for me is that the players look tired and lethargic and the team plays at half pace. It’s all so dull and predictable. If we continue like this England will go out in the first knock out game.
  5. Southgate appears to be is a good man-manager and understands people but like most English coaches he's poor tactically and he doesn't appear to understand the game that well - certainly not like foreign coaches. There's a reason why the Premier League is dominated by foreign coaches and you imagine a few of them will have been perplexed by Southgate's performance tonight
  6. Kane played the old pro tonight, particularly in the second half, winning fouls and free kicks all over the pitch and taking the pressure off. As for Conor Gallagher international footballer. Really? You need special players to win tournaments which makes the decision to leave Grealish at home difficult to understand
  7. That was hard to watch. On that performance the likes of Germany and Spain and France haven’t much to beat
  8. There’s an awful lot of water carriers in this England team.
  9. Dull, one-paced football. Saka and Bellingham very good players, but the rest ordinary to say the least. Foden the biggest disappointment, hardly put a foot right
  10. England's left flank including Trippier will be the main weakness this tournament. The best teams will exploit it Still think not taking Grealish was a huge mistake.
  11. Not in your lifetime probably. Not that long ago for me
  12. Wouldn’t have been given back in the good old days. Play on
  13. Penalties used to be given for serious foul play. That wasn’t
  14. Nothing like long-term planning is there ?
  15. ManU in for Branthwaite apparently. Never thought he'd make League 2 when he was with us
  16. Is Gestede a "guru"? If he is a guru then he might do OK, otherwise it looks like a poor appointment
  17. It's a journalistic word to make someone appear more important or knowledgeable than they really are. Rovers have managed for more than 140 years without having a guru and we don't need one now.
  18. I’m not watching any of it but as long as this lot don’t win I’ll be happy
  19. It’s only a friendly blah blah but you don’t lose to Iceland, not ever.
  20. The White story was widely reported in the press but you missed it because you only look online Clot
  21. Read the newspapers. You might learn summat
  22. England's left flank looks vulnerable - Trippier not the best even on the right side and Shaw has hardly played. The best teams will exploit it
  23. Mistake not taking Grealish. He's a unique player who opens up defences. Dunk but not Maguire??? I'd love to play against Lewis Dunk even at my age Three Palace players - really? The fact Southgate played for them is entirely co-incidental
  24. It's over the top to describe him as "world class". If Wharton is world class how do you describe the likes of Bellingham? He's a very good, promising player who is going to get better without a doubt but that's as much as you can say at the moment. Many Premier clubs looked at him but they had doubts. He might have gone for a higher price this summer but who knows? Palace made the price he was worth at the time
