  1. Tomasson had Rovers playing the same way and it drove me mad at times. It was great when it came off but all too often it didn't I remember particularly a game at Luton where they pressed us hard for 10 minutes at the start of the second half and we gave the ball away twice to gift them 2 goals. And that was it - game over.
  2. On away trips just about every club we visit has a ticket office open before the match. I can’t think of any that don’t offhand. Penny pinching. It’s really pathetic by Waggott but typical of the way he runs the club.
  3. Too late. The Midlands was mooted as the site for a new national stadium instead of rebuilding Wembley - a site was identified near road and rail links that would have been ideal for fans across the country and help drive economic activity away from the south-east but the "authorities" decided to stay in London. The fact that the area around Wembley has also been entirely rebuilt with shopping centres, entertainment venues and blocks of high-rise expensive apartments is co-incidental of course. Nothing changes - London always wins because that's where the government is The FA won't be holding game around England anytime soon.
  4. We had some great night at Wembley for friendly internationals back in the day. There were far fewer matches so it was much more of an occasion and the old ground always seemed to be rocking with fans singing and enjoying themselves and getting behind the national team. I enjoyed the game tonight and thought Carsley's England was a big improvement on Southgate's but Wembley was half empty and seemed like a morgue compared with the great days. Sad. I blame the Champions League
  5. Pretty good half - quite enjoyable to watch. England played at a much higher tempo than under Southgate and it was good to see 2 wingers on show - when was the last time that happened? Grealish playing well underlining the daft decision not to take him to the Euros
  6. Poor, unprofessional performance against a weak Sri Lanka team. The summer isn't complete without an England batting collapse and it has cost us again. The bowlers weren't much better either. Pope should not be captain because he's not good enough to be a fixture in the team. The odd big score aside, his technical problems and fragile temperament are reflected in too many low scores. Embarrassing all round.
  7. Rattin was a dirty player. He deserved to be sent off. Argentina got their own back with Maradona's handball goal. Now that was real theft
  8. Agree. Johansson was outstanding for Rotherham at Ewood last season - best keeper at this level I've seen in years
  9. Please don't Mercer. I can't go through another season of wine-fuelled hyper-optimism
  10. Have to admit I let out an expletive when Travis did that. All he had to do was keep his toe down and keep the shot on target and it could have been a goal. Coupled with the Dolan disallowed goal a 3-1 win would have been so sweet after last year
  11. Should have got that late shot at least on target though
  12. Beck looked like a player who's been given a chance and was determined to keep the shirt. He looks a real terrier of a player, always snapping at the heels of opponents. He looks a good addition to the squad but I don't see him replacing Harry as first-choice left back yet
  13. Not sure, if he is then it's a good game to miss. I guess we'll find out alot about Beck today, debuts don't come much tougher than this
  14. Surprised Beck is starting. It's a gamble, he looked very raw in the footage I've seen. Harry must be miffed. The defence (and the goalkeeper of course) worries me. There's not a real hard nut among them
  15. Well done on Oasis. I'm still stuck in the queue
  16. Hendry and Moran were brought up on porridge and tatties; modern players on muesli and latte
  17. You have to say the team still has many individual weaknesses, not least in defence. The new goalkeeper could be another Wahlstedt, in which case we're stuck with Pears, who cost us at least 10 points last season But you never know. Ipswich went straight through the division with a League One winning team which must have been weak in several positions too but obviously have a very good manager I guess it all down to Eustace and a bit of luck, which as long suffering fans we deserve
  18. "Fuck sake, Dominic" should be in a Rovers English language handbook for all foreign arrivals.
  19. 8 hours or so to get some meaningful signings over the line., the clock's ticking
  20. You weren't stood behind the goal at the Den when Wahlstedt fumbled the ball over the line. It was excruciating to witness and it was one of many howlers he inflicted on us. It was obvious he wasn't up to it nor did he have the ability to get better.
  21. Why are fans enthused by the Baker signing? I've been looking on the Stoke fans website and they're not bothered that he's gone. It's like us selling them Gallagher We're signing a lad who can't in the Stoke team - I know Eustace likes him but is he really going to improve the Rovers team? As it stands,in recent days we've signed an unproven keeper who may or may not be better than Pears, an unwanted Stoke 29-year-old and a youngster from Liverpool who is unlikely to displace Pickering
  22. 1 goalkeeper 2 right back 3 left back 4 right half 5 centre half 6 left half 7 right wing 8 inside right 9 centre forward 10 inside left 11 left wing proper football now that’s sorted have we signed anyone today?
  23. Last night should have been a huge warning as to the weakness of this squad in terms of numbers and quality and the reinforcements needed urgently if we’re not going to end up in another relegation battle Eustace knows it and should be laying into Waggott this morning demanding action in the next few days. At least 3 players are needed, “oven ready” as one blond haired idiot said, to play in the Championship
  24. JRC’s poor form is mystifying unless he’s not properly fit in which case he shouldn’t be playing. He had an absolute purple patch under Tomasson when he looked a top class player and possibly get a move to the Premier League. He was the best player on the pitch in that fantastic cup night at Leicester . Strange Eustsce should be banging on Waggott’s door this morning demanding action on more players. Last night showed it’s going to be a long hard season without instant reinforcements
