  1. Rovers fans on Facebook are the same with regards to Venky's - think they can do no wrong As for Twitter/X best to give it a miss altogether. And Facebook now for that matter after Zuckerberg's announcement last week. They're unregulated cesspits
  2. None obviously, and signing Bamford would come with risks. This is all theoretical and it shows the type of players we’re looking at - freebies, young loanees and has beens. Everything points to us spending not one penny in this window
  3. Bamford was a top player a few years ago - played for England. At 31 he should have a few good years in him and I wouldn’t be against him coming to us - if anything even without goals he would lead the lead the line better than anything we’ve got at present
  4. He was very good in that Butch Cassidy film with Paul Newman too, Tyrone
  5. Brereton,s preference is Sheffield and Sunderland are the only club willing to make a loan permanent So we’re a poor third in the queue Forget about it
  6. We're better away from home. The team mindset and players we have at present is better at defending. We should have won by more today. The lack of a goalscorer will kill us in the end
  7. Is it too much to hope for a kind draw, and by that I mean a lower league side at home? I'd love a good cup run
  8. That's a good win after the Bumley disappointment Rovers love playing in the north-east ........ can we play there every week?
  9. Leonard needs 10 chances (at least) to score one, and his all round play isn't good either. I don't see a future for him
  10. My biggest memory of him will be missing that header against Burnley last weekend. For that reason alone I'm not sorry to see him go. He needs to be replaced though - surely it can't beyond even this useless management to find another average Championship plodder?
  11. Unless neither Carter nor Wharton are going to play again this season, and we need the extra cover, Hanley is a bullet dodged. As for Siggurdsson (sp?) shunt him out this week. He's a waste of a wage and needs to be got off the payroll.
  12. It wasn't boring (who said that?) and no one said the occasion wasn't exciting, but you don't have to be "invested" as a fan for more than 60 years, as our group are, to recognise that as a match it wasn't a good watch. It'll take more than a disappointing derby for us to give up on football and I think you're United supporting friends were being kind.
  13. Shame, I thought it was a brief glimmer of good news on a horrible weekend
  14. Just caught the tailend of this conversation but if anyone, just anyone, is offering money for Dolan I'd take it. Regarding ageing wingers, a a general rule they're not a good idea. Your body changes in your late 20s, the spring in the legs suddenly goes and with it the pace over 2-3 yards to beat defenders and get a cross in. Some folk would say Rovers signed Waggie at 32, and he proved to be an excellent player for us, albeit not as the flying winger he used to be. Schlupp's not in the same class, so it's a no from me.
  15. No. In an nutshell The 10,000 or so extra fans would probably have been appalled by yesterday's match, which was low quality with little excitement They would also have been shocked probably at how limited Rovers are, compared to the teams and players they remember. And we lost. The atmosphere was good but from a football point of view was little if anything to make the average wabering fan to visit Ewood again
  16. I didn’t see that, what did he do? We were in the Riverside Darwen end suffering the humiliation of the corner flag incident.
  17. I thought Parker had them well drilled, they looked well coached , playing within themselves. There was a 10 minute period in the first half when they kept the ball and we didn’t have a touch. The looked a class above us to be honest
  18. Yes we’re at maximum effort and the maximum of our ability now. It can’t get any better. To improve from here we need at least 4-5 quality players to come in
  19. Watching Barnes celebrating and the player parading the Rovers corner flag with a Burnley shirt on…. That’s what hurt the most. I wonder if the owners watching in India were feeling that hurt too?
  20. Some more thoughts On the plus side Tronstad, Baath, Brittain and Beck had excellent games, the latter will be sorely missed when he goes back. However Cantwell is a lightweight show pony who flatters to deceive Today was depressing in so many ways. The squad is overall very poor and not good enough to challenge for promotion Watching Burnley players celebrate with their fans really hurt. Who was the player who grabbed the corner flag and ran around with it covered in Burnley shirt? As for Ashley Barnes he needs sorting out … away from the football pitch
  21. Well that keeps up my 100 per cent record ……. Still yet to see Rovers win this season Some thoughts Hate to say it but Burnley were a class above, a standard of player in a different league to ours. They’ve spent money - and it showed Rovers need a revamp, 3 or 4 new players, ones who can create and score goals. As it stands we will be lucky to finish in mid table The Burnley goal and Rovers’ only chance in the first half came from beautiful lcrosses delivered at pace behind defenders, traditional and effective wing play. So much for inverted wingers
  22. Agree, it's nonsensical. I don't know why any manager worth their salt would work under such a system.... unless they were desperate for the job/money.
  23. ........ but, but, but , aren't we all supposed to be in thrall to these modern "inverted wingers"? I too regret the passing of the traditional way of playing and there's still no denying that defenders hate nothing more than a driven cross behind the defence from the near the bye-line, meat and drink to the likes of Shearer and Sutton. Which manager would be brave enough to go back to that way of playing, though I admit it would be difficult given the paucity of traditional wingers in the game
  24. Just found out we've got 4 tickets for this......and I haven't seen Rovers win this season 😧
