  1. Another unexpected win! Hats off to the manager for getting the most out of a very limited squad. Long may it continue. Even one of our misfit forwards scored. Cantwell,s silly yellow card the only blot on a very satisfying evening
  2. Southgate left the England job without a trophy but with his head held high, England's standing on the international stage restored, the country's most successful manager since Ramsey and millions in the bank. Why would be put his hard-won reputation at risk by taking on the poisoned chalice of the Old Trafford job? On another note, it's the battle of the sack in the West Ham v Wolves match tonight. Either manager or possibly both seem destined for the chop
  3. Anyone know if we can pay on the gate?
  4. If your instincts are "never wrong", can you please tell us the scoreline of Rovers' next game and we'll all put a bet on The next winning Lottery number would be useful too
  5. Another day, another win. Poor performance to judge from the comments on here but who's complaining?
  6. Not going - call me timid but al my age I don't fancy the M62 or the lottery of the rail service in this weather.
  7. Unless it's tongue in cheek why do fans post this sort of stuff? Talk about setting yourself up for a fall. Are you related to Mercer (where's he gone BTW?) There's so many variables in football and assuming the match goes ahead it'll be very difficult playing conditions today, so anything can happen - literally so with the erratic Pears in goal.
  8. Hull today appointed Reading boss Ruben Selles as manager though he won’t officially take over until Hull’s home game against Watford on Wednesday. Reading fans not happy as he seems to have turned the club’s fortunes around.
  9. Crawley like Pope comes off once in a while and it's OK being aggressive but taking this Bazball nonsense to such extremes he must have the brain the size of a pea to play the way he does. Bring back Barber, Barrington and Boycott. Fifteen wickets falling in a day isn't good Test cricket in my view. This looks like another match unlikely to extend beyond 3 days. The public is being short-changed
  10. McNamee was a proper old school hard man centre half who was instrumental on and off the pitch to Rovers' 1970s revival in the old third division. Sometimes he crossed the line into being "dirty" but players knew where they stood with him and were in for a tough afternoon . I don't think they played in the same team but McNamee and Glenn Keeley would have been an "interesting" centre half partnership. Opposition centre forwards would have got mysteriously injured before those games. Good memories. RIP
  11. Travis is in the best form of his career and will be a big miss for us. Hopefully we can keep it tight at the back again and sneak a goal from somewhere because we're unlikely to beat any team easily with our current impotent forward line. Better to play safe. Hull 1 Rovers 1
  12. Waggott must be worried sick sitting in his multimillion pound home somewhere down south tonight. Eustace making Rovers into the a top-6 challenging outfit wasn't in the masterplan at all. He thought he was getting a manager to keep our heads just above relegation trapdoor. He thought selling the free scoring Szmodics and signing 2 non--scoring forwards, one of whom is among the worst players to wear the famous blue and white halved shirt, would secure his vision This wasn't how it was meant to be. At this rate Rovers could be in the playoffs, and then, horror of horrors, within a couple of games of the Premier League. How can he get his plan back on track? How can he scupper this feelgood factor among the fans? No doubt he'll be working feverishly over the weekend with another plan. Watch this space.
  13. Cracking win, 2 wins in a row against difficult opponents totally unexpected
  14. I should do if more often. Trouble is, I like the atmosphere among the Rovers fans at away matches and it’s always interesting to visit new grounds. Luton and Oxford could be the next ones in the new year.
  15. Very good win, unexpected on form but maybe not because we usually do well in the north east for some reason.
  16. It was only last season we had one
  17. Nope, not this time. The albatross is on domestic duties
  18. We have a good record against the north east teams IIRC - don't know why but we generally do well against them. Boro blow hot and cold so I'm hopeful we could get a draw out of this.
  19. Mourinho said once there was a microclimate at Ewood. Perhaps he was right. One of only 3 matches across the top 4 divisions postponed at present
  20. Have to say I thoroughly enjoyed the England match last night - and I wouldn't have said that with the first XI and many of the games under Gareth Southgate. The team were up for it from the kickoff and apart from 20 minutes in the second half and one or two chances, were too good for a very decent Greece team. Hall looks a player
  21. Rock Your Baby - George McCrae
  22. I hope it can be binned. But there's the realism with this team of what it is more likely to happen. Promotion ain't one of them
  23. Ignore the league position, we're not pushing for promotion.... we're really not. This team is is not good enough to finish in the top 10 IMO. I look at today as a welcome 3 points in the season-long battle to stay in this division.
  24. After some horrible results that’s a welcome and unexpected 3 points. It sort of makes up for the Watford game, which we didn’t deserve to lose. The team still has significant weaknesses that need addressing but that’s a big confidence boost today
  25. There you go, goal made by Joe. After all the adverse comments
