  1. A “project” in other words. I didn’t have you down as a dewy eyed , blue and white spangled, happy clapping chaddy chum, 47er.
  2. This is 1966.-1967 all over again and another season defining match against Coventry. I think if we fail to win tonight the playoffs are gone. It’s as simple as that. The remaining games are too difficult and already fragile confidence will be shot Rovers 0 Coventry 1
  3. Shame he didn’t look after his body better - he would still be leading the Rovers forward line even at 37. Unlike his successors at Ewood he was a proper centre forward.
  4. In the old days we had a manager, a trainer, a scout and a secretary. Seemed to work quite well. These job creation schemes with high faluting titles are in large part a waste of money
  5. The bookies also had Rovers favourites for the 1960 Cup final. If you think we’re favourites to beat Coventry I wouldn’t bet the farm if I were you
  6. Home or away on form we are definitely not favourites
  7. If we finish 7th or 8th - a failure surely after our elevated position all season. - the apologists for the Ewood management will soon shrug it off as a “project”.
  8. I’m really teed off at Bournemouth’s revival. Nothing southern clubs like them and Brentford do not belong in the PL. There’s also too many London clubs in the PL Southampton and Leicester are down IMO. I thought Leicester were very poor when we beat them and they were around mid table at the time. The appointment of Dean Smith shows they’ve given up Forest look the most vulnerable for the last place. I’d rather they stayed up than the likes of West Ham etc but Cooper looks out of his depth at this level.
  9. The Coventry away match was one of the worst Rovers experiences in decades of supporting and there’s been a fair few of those this season. Their supporters didn’t expect to win and were surprised at how poor we were. Will it be any different this time ? Unlikely. This fixture also has echoes of 1966-67 when Coventry shaded a crunch match at Ewood late in the season that effectively ended our promotion hopes. Not a good omen
  10. Tomasson does not want it. This season has come too soon in the project.
  11. Big boost for Rovers this result …,, now watch us fail to take advantage tomorrow
  12. Good old Tone. Always looking for a problem that didn’t need solving
  13. Ryan Giles playing well for Boro - only the great Tony Mowbray will know why we didn’t sign him. Lenihan instrumental too.
  14. Come on Bonny Boro. The rain might win this match though
  15. S Wharton was a liability when he was last in the side. I don’t see any reason to bring him back
  16. No reason at all to recall Gallagher and Scott wharton doesn’t deserve to play ahead of Carter
  17. No from me We’re not quite good enough and too many difficult games - eg likely nul points from the Preston and Burnley matches It’s a project
  18. Wasn’t Bobby Bell the player who pulled out of a game because he cricked his neck washing his hair?
  19. Ken Knighton and Allan Hunter were signed that summer IIRC. Two superb players who would walk into the current team. How did we manage without a “director of football”?
  20. Tough end to the season and this on paper at least is one of the “easier” ones. So yes, this is a must win and no excuses or playing well but drawing as at Huddersfield. A scabby 1-0 win is fine
  21. Have to say I like the cut of his jib. We need "leaders" on the pitch and his competitive streak and demands for the others to do better marks him out as captain material - possibly better than Travis? Still not sure what his best position is though because he's certainly not a right back
  22. Another pleasant day in the Emerald Isle spoilt by this inept manager and team
  23. Keith Newton and Ronnie Clayton lived close to us in days gone by. Used to love seeing them pottering about doing the chores
  24. Really annoyed about that result. Don’t have any love for Leicester but I’d like Bournemouth and Boscombe Athletic to go down. Their presence along with the likes of Brentford, Brighton etc in the top flight is irksome
  25. It’s as good as any. From what I’ve read about yesterday though if the players aren’t motivated and in the wrong frame of mind if doesn’t matter how we line up
