  1. I think quite how good Wharton is can skew perception if he is the benchmark. That being said, I am not convinced that Phillips made a terrible choice even not factoring in the financial aspect which is obviously crucial, people say greedy as if they would turn down multiplying their wage. But he was down the pecking order behind some average Championship defenders, different story if he left as a regular but he likely wouldnt have played that much yet. Perhaps its better being at a bigger club where you arent really in first team contention as they would be committed to getting you good loans at least to play football whereas here, he was 4th/5th choice but we needed depth so couldnt afford to find him regular football.
  2. When you decided that Coyle, Mowbray and Bowyer needed to go. On Tomasson, you was fuming when he went but take the other 3.Why didnt the same argument apply, that the problems run far deeper than the manager under Venkys?
  3. We need experience, the primary focus of next season is next season. I dont buy all this play under 21s and let them make mistakes stuff. But Ruddy comes off a poor season and is particularly old. I dont see how it would be "positive for Eustace" because I dont think it would be a particularly good signing for the team hes managing. I suspect the link is just a lazy one with the Birmingham link.
  4. Its all well and good getting your tactics right against a better side in a cup final, kudos to Ten Hag as he got things spot on today. But the issue has been across a terrible league campaign, they cant sit in like they did today week in week out and he hasnt got a regular style to win enough of those games.
  5. Im guessing that would be the non positive story then.
  6. He was 5th choice the season that he left, and 3 of the 4 centre backs he was behind were here last season so im not sure he would have played much. He was a regular on loan at Plymouth so Spurs did well to get him a good loan at Championship level.
  7. Better than 8th, with no discernable style 2 years in, and having spent so much money predominantly on players hes managed before and wanted again?
  8. You could argue that he should be getting them promoted perhaps automatically in the last 2 seasons. Hes spent money and has good resources at that level. You look at the firepower they have, buying the League 1 player of last season in Jan, they bought Charles from Stanley, Adeboyejo from Burton, Bodvarsson from Reading, theyve got Cameron Jerome, Carlos Mendes Gomes from Luton and they signed Nlundulu too. Hopefully someone as bad as possible. I dont know all the potential managers across Europe so I dont know. I suspect that a manager who with vast resources has failed to get Bolton promoted from League 1 is probably not the man theyll go for.
  9. Evatt? I think Bolton fans want him out after failing to get promoted twice with big resources available to him.
  10. I dont think that was a serious suggestion but ask the oracle anyway.
  11. Probably that he is making something up very vague and cryptic that he can claim credit for whatever happens.
  12. I think weve seen how good of a coach he is.
  13. We are at the time of year where agents are desperate to get their players names out so I wouldnt read much into these rumours. Especially as our owners are notoriously particularly slow to tell anyone whats going on regarding budgets even before they lost interest totally and got embroiled in a legal case. And factor in that our director of football has just left. Mind you, I wouldnt expect a higher calibre of players.
  14. They dont tell anyone anything. But weve seen in the past them turn down requests to spend on things out of scope of FFP. Plus they havent continiously spent to the brink of FFP.
  15. It isnt down to P&S/FFP why they havent spent more.
  16. He was well down the pecking order here and probably played more in half a season at Plymouth than he would all season here, after half a season training with Tottenham. And on much more money.
  17. Hopefully will mean one less relegation spot for us to avoid next season.
  18. Im not convinced we are anywhere near signing anyone considering our DOF has just left and with the uncertainty and silence from the owners. Docherty has never stood out whenever I have seen him for Hull and fell down the pecking order there last season hence why they havent renewed his contract. He has sometimes been shunted wider during his time. Central midfielder is bottom of the priority list and he potentially could be a reasonable cheap pickup as a squad player if its not at the expense of Tronstad/Travis/JRC and/or if it allows JRC to go back to RB. But as I say, its probably just a busy agent generating interest.
  19. City won the FA cup.
  20. Venkys will get some money and keep it.
  21. ITK silly season is sadly warming up. Venkys are unfortunately going nowhere.
  22. Kompany seems a very strange appointment for a club the size of Bayern Munich. I suspect had he not had the playing career he had, maybe throw in the fact he presumably can speak German after playing for Hamburg as a bonus, that he would get anywhere near the job. They would be better off keeping Tuchel for another season. I wonder how it will affect Burnley. This season they have had a poor season even allowing for the chasm between the Premier League and Championship that the money inequalities have caused. Kompany did ease to the title in the Championship so they would have preferred to keep him. They still have (some coming back from loan) the majority of that title winning squad added to by some players who could be real assets in the Champipnship even if not all of them could handle the Premier League. The likes of Berge, O'Shea, Ramsey and Massengo were all very good at this level previously, add in Odobert, Koleosho and Amdouni and if they get their appointment right, the Kompany compensation might help them to be able to afford to keep more than they might have done prior. Unfortunately its hard not to see them as the favourites.
  23. Obviously there are other and bigger issues that need fixing but you dont keep Ten Hag simply because he isnt the biggest problem. He is still a problem for them because hes not shown any evidence that sticking with him would be wise. They did overpay for Antony in particular, hes shit, remind me again who wanted him having managed him at Ajax.
